Food is good and well prepared with generous portions. We had a couple of classics (Bravas, calamares, croquettas) and also the kidneys (these were lovely). The mixed salad was pretty true to form. It’s good staple tapas. I wouldn’t compare it to the better places I’ve had tapas in Sevilla and Granada but for southern England (and touristy bits of Spain) it was really good I’ll definitely be retuning regularly.

First off - staff were great. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long to order which was great. Sadly that’s where the good ends. When we arrived it was quiet at 18:30 which was a perfect time, we had a good table and were comfortable, the noise levels were minimal and it had a number of diners in but not overcrowded. However, as the evening progressed it became louder and louder, to the point I couldn’t hear my partner across the table. I guess it also didn’t help having a party of 6 turn up next to us, but personal space and volume control wouldn’t have gone a-miss. In general, food presentation was great and it looked appetising. The steak had nice char lines on it and a little melted butter on it, plus a garnish. The starter was nice. We had a Camembert sharer which was tasty, loads of cheese and some bread sticks for it. The chilli jam was good too. I would recommend this. As soon as that was cleared from the table the steak arrived, literally within a minute. So fast. I ordered a Sirloin cooked medium rare and my girlfriend ordered a rump cooked medium. The rump was more red and rare than the sirloin. My sirloin was quite sinue-y, I have had sirloins before which melt in the mouth yet this one was quite hard to cut and a bit heavy going. My girlfriend’s rump steak looked okay, albeit very red for medium which she wasn’t too keen on, but she said similar that it was quite hard to get through with the sinuey bits of what she ate. My lettuce wedge was ok but after I had some with the sauce on it I had to leave the rest. It was supposed to be bacon and a honey dressing but it was almost pure vinaigrette on it - so overpowering, it was actually quite sore on the tongue and difficult to eat. The onion loaf is great though and the new potatoes were lovely. Once the food was done (as much as we could handle) coupled with the noise levels, we decided to get out quick. It was disappointing though as we came here before and it was amazing in all ways, the food was quality and delicious, melt in the mouth. Sadly not this time. To reiterate though, our waitress was great - as were the other staff - but the food sadly didn’t live up to our hopes and definitely doesn’t justify the high price tags (we spent about £90 between 2 of us) neither really did the atmosphere. The dining area visually looks nice and inviting but with all the noise and how compact it is, it wasn’t too pleasant. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

Upon arriving, they quickly noticed I was on crutches and managed to sort out a table for us in the dining area to save me from using the bar stools. We were served by Matt who was an absolute star, so attentive, friendly and perceptive. The first thing you notice is the atmosphere, its a really well lit and decorated restaurant. Everyone from the people already eating there to the staff were all smiling and happy. Service is brilliant as well, very nice people and very quick to help. Food is the absolute highlight here though. I had a King Prawn Rogan and it was easily in my top 5 of Indian food I've had in life. A large award to give out to a random spot in a random UK town. We did start with the classic poppadom with the mango sides, which was also perfect. Rice and naan was great, no complaints but the curry I had itself stopped me from really wanting anything else. In general, the combination of a great spot, great staff and superb food make this a really great sort of "hidden" gem that I highly recommend. Note: They don't have a license to serve alcohol. BUT, there is a cheap news agent across the street with a nice selection of cheap alcohol so I somewhat prefer the way its done and its a little charming. So, the restaurant is totally okay with you bringing in outside alcohol and encourage it, knowing British culture. The staff bring you glasses and a bottle opener at request.

When we lived in Haywards Heath, it was our local and we loved it so much. We emigrated to Australia and when we came back to visit, we took a day trip down to Haywards Heath from London specifically to go to China Brasserie. The previous owners were so friendly! When the newer owners took over, they were polite but didn't have that same warmth. Arrived early, and our table was clean and ready for us to have a drink before we ordered our food. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. So memorable I remembered it all that time and took my family here for a Sunday lunch. Unfortunately, the meal we had was very underwhelming and not a great experience. The starters took an hour to arrive. My pork starter was a bit cold and bland. The £23 roast beef dinner was one of those ones where everything is piled on top of everything else. Two thin slices of what I'm pretty sure was topside atop a couple of roasties, a few very "al dente" green beans and some cabbage, accompanied by a leathery Yorkshire pudding. The sort of thing you'd expect in a chain pub for about a tenner. The atmosphere was quite challenging, as another (drunk) guest kept shrieking and cackling in a highly intrusive way throughout, to the point it was difficult to relax or communicate. Lovely setting with a great selection of drinks and really excellent food! The local cider (Black Pig) became a firm favourite with my husband. A little pricey for two people for what it is. The room itself was spacious, the en-suite bathroom was very small but the shower fixture/pressure and consistent flow and water made up for it. The en-suite needs a good revamp, the room needs the same too, or at least the ceiling, door frames and walls all need a fresh lick of paint white and magnolia to brighten the place up and compensate for a desperate revamp, curtains need changing or at least fixing. The mattress of the double bed was surprisingly comfortable and the pillows. Towels were not bad either. Had a good night sleep and everything was quiet, and the breakfast in the morning was a big surprise. We were greeted with Howard from Ireland, a very nice chap. This is an excellent traditional pub. It has a lovely old-fashioned feel to it. The food is of a very high standard. Most of us had the Sunday roast, which was absolutely huge, with a choice of chicken, pork, lamb, or beef. All were fantastic. The chips on at least four plates were clearly double cooked to keep them hotter as they were rock hard… one meal got forgotten completely so we were told it would be made up but take a few minutes to come… meanwhile my new chicken arrived with no glaze on… it was hot on the outside.. fridge cold in the centre…. Then the missing meal arrived at 7.50pm. This meal was cooked well and was made free of charge. All in all just pretty below par, we won’t return in a hurry. Staff were polite throughout.

Each course of the tasting menu was delicious and plentiful, as were the snacks and bread courses served alongside. We ordered an additional course of slow-cooked short-rib of beef, and the restaurant manager happily swapped out a dessert course for a generously-sized cheeseboard to meet my wife's dietary requirements. We opted to select our own wines to go with each course, as the wine flight was a bit too focused on whites and our preference is for red. Its a slight detour from the route, but we'll worth it. We sat outside with the good weather, service was busy and they have a small bar area. The pie was absolutely fabulous, good pastry and a lovely filling, a proper pie cut and not a single individual one. Food is to me somewhat subjective, what appeals to me may not be to you so this is a very general review. We just had breakfasts both the large and ordinary plus an 'allergy free' one for our celiac family member. Our breakfasts were ordered and paid for using the phone app at the table however the allergy free one has to be ordered at the bar and paid for there so be aware. The quality of the food and quantity were good in all cases. My large breakfast was 2 eggs, 3 back bacon, grilled Tomato, black pudding, 3 hash browns, mushrooms, beans (I declined these as they are the food of the devil), two sausages and 2 toast. Tea etc was taken at a separate cost. My only slight annoyance was the sausage it was a very fine cut and I prefer a more coarse cut traditional style . Otherwise all was good the hash browns were crispy and the food was warm. Service was wonderful, polite, friendly and helpful and a real credit to the place! Perfect for a working breakfast meet up, early meet after the school run or just a morning social. I will return but try a later visit and sample the beer !

Taste is subjective so bear this in mind when considering reviews. Lees fish and chip shop is under new ownership and this was my first visit for a long time. Normal range of fish offered, I noticed cod in two sizes, huss in one. Chips in sml, med and lge. No mushy peas....pea fritters though. Sausages and pies available. I had huss and chips, 7.60 for the huss plus the cost of the chips, as I said not cheap anymore! Well to be fair the fish did look huge. However when I got home I was able to see that the fish had been heavily dipped in batter, too much for my preference. Chips were fine not too greasy if a little bland. The new people, two nice friendly lads on duty were giving great service, polite , masked and clean looking. Staff hygiene certification was wall displayed behind them. I ordered the king prawn fried rice and Szechuan chicken. The rice was nicely cooked and the eggs had a soft, fluffy texture. The prawns were cooked perfectly. But the dish could have been seasoned a bit more as it was slightly bland. The chicken was tender and the Szechuan sauce had a nice kick to it. Followed by Singapore noodles and curry sauce. 14quid in total. And all cooked fresh. Noodles were spot on and the curry sauce was of good rice thick flavoursum quality.
