In a country filled with fried fish, the Captain’s Table is a welcome oasis serving a creative variety of non fried ( and one or two fried options) exquisite seafood and shellfish. Appetizers include stunning Shetland steamed mussels and local scallops as well as several no seafood offerings. An intriguing fish pie( halibut, salmon and sole) was a special today along with lobster gnocchi. Make sure to ask about the catch of the day! An extensive alcoholic beverage menu is available, including cocktails and whiskeys along with a wide variety of beers and wines. The staff are quite friendly, helpful and very professional. Great pride is reflected in the spotless interior of the small restaurant and clean restroom. Had langoustine (for the first time) and the scallops as appetizers, both excellent. Mussels for the main course were amazing. As was said during dinner, you could taste the saltiness of the sea. It’s budget hotel and the price was good. The staff are all brilliant and I’d have given them all 5 stars. Also the pizzas deserve 5 stars and the breakfast. We suffered 2 nights of no sleep and we couldn’t have coped with more. It’s such a shame because an easy thing to fix (yet I see other reviews mention it so we’re not the first) and we wouldn’t risk staying again unless it was.

It's a hidden gemstone. The food was amazing. We don’t need to talk about the fish & chips but the homemade curry sauce & the sticky toffee pudding - sooo good. They have their own homemade lemonade in lovely bottles with their own label. But what really made the visit a special experience was the history behind this family owned restaurant. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which came not only from the people working there, but also from all the other guests who were dining in the restaurant at the same time as us. We met lots of new and wonderful people. It was the perfect experience, which made our anniversary even more special. Thank you so much. We will definitely come back again.

Had dinner both nights in the hotel, with a large group on Saturday and the carvery on Sunday. Both meals excellent with some quirky touches. Service friendly and efficient from army of young ladies. The room was everything a solo traveller needs, a bed and a toilet! Service was terrific, from the young lass at the reception desk to the bar lady who were chatty and made me feel welcome. I shared a veg and chicken pakora with my Wife. When cutting one of the pakora the oil oozed out. Not very appetising. The main meal was chicken patia with a plain nan and pilau rice. The chicken patia was not what I recognise as Patia however I appreciate that is subjective. After two mouthfuls of the meal it was inedible due to the takeaway plague of too much salt. This vendor is not alone, this is a very widespread common problem. It was so salty most went in the bin. Not sure if the rice was salty as mixed with the salt in the patia so in fairness to the takeaway I can’t comment on the rice. The nan was OK. So after an encouraging start, very disappointing. Had it been edible the price was OK Gauging by previous responses in other reviews I may get a smart retort. I believe in being factual, honest and give credit where credit is due which I have done. Whilst I appreciate some feedback responses are nefarious and rude which is just wrong, there may be a small element of truth to address in some. Whilst difficult, I appreciate, maybe some humility and taking feedback for what it is minus the smart responses to obvious baits might just project a better image and help avoid negative feedback that is not welcome going forward, just an observation not a criticism.
