But here’s the thing it was on the pricier side. Not outrageous, and to be fair, it was worth it. The quality’s there. But if you’re charging premium prices, I’d expect to be able to pay with an American Express card. I know, I know the usual excuse about fees. But come on. Outstanding, mind-blowing small plates food concept. It is very well priced with delicious food. It's probably the best food I've eaten outside of London. The service was also really good, kind, attentive, and responsive. This place is great for a quick bite and a glass of wine or a full sit-down meal with a variety of dishes, each bringing you on its own flavour journey. We ordered 6 dishes for 2 people plus dessert and non alcoholic Espresso martini, and we paid 74£, so it's very reasonable. If you are really hungry or want to taste it all, order the same amount. Otherwise, scale down to 4-5 dishes. The portions are decent. My absolute favourites were the blue cheese puffs, the chickpea puffs, and hasbrown with fish. However, it was really difficult to choose favourites as everything is just so tasty. This restaurant has just recently changed their food concept from 3 course to small sharing plates. Therefore, most of the pictures here are out of date. Check my photos to see the latest offering and looks of the food. This restaurant has both outside and inside sitting. If the weather is great, it is worth to sit outside.

Potatoes, simple but tasty. And I didn't taste it but the chestnut creme caramel(I think that's right) was apparently the best dessert ever had...which is saying something coming from the sweetest of sweet-toothed baker sisters. The service was very excellent as you would expect from a top-end establishment, perfect balance of friendly and attentive - also in places like this they need to know the menu - which wasn't the case on only one occasion but was promptly resolved with a quick trip to the kitchen. You know when you feel the 5 star review format should have an extra star for superstars, this is one of them, though I don't eat out as much as I used to, in the last year I've felt that for Fallow, Jin Kichi and Livingston - so the Blue Pelican is indeed a superstar and one I will hopefully return to many times.

As we had a friend visit from Norfolk, and as a treat I booked a table for 3 for Lunch (yesterday). I have to say I was most disappointed. The meals arrived and looked a little lost on the plates. I have to say on previous visits the plates have been full. I understand that food prices have risen, but so have the prices at Dunkerley's. My Wife had Salmon and vegetables, which were sparse on the plate. Our friend had Cod & chips, with the Cod at least a third smaller than previous visits, served with no more than 8 or 9 chips and some mushy peas. I had Plaice and new potato's with sugar snaps. Well the fish was ok, but I had 6 Jersey Royal size potato's cut in half, and a desert spoon of frozen peas with 4 sugar snaps poked in ?. The hotel faces the sea and is next to two very nice pubs. The staff are young locals and very professional and helpful. It's worth having dinner here. Again the mussels and scallops were just great, we can really recommend those starters. The hot smoked salmon and the whole plaice on the bone were good choices. Despite both being vegan and the day having a set menu (that had no vegan option for starter), the staff went out of their way to suggest delicious alternatives that catered to our requirements for the starter and made sure we were well taken care of. We ordered the roast beef and roast lamb Sunday lunches. Every one was great value - quality of the food was excellent, and the staff and the service was fantastic. We arrived late in the afternoon on a warm Sunday. The pub and the square outside was really busy and we did not know how it would all work out. But it did. The staff were super friendly and the sea view rooms were clean and really spacious. At dinner, the food was great, the steak we had was local and cooked just as we asked. Breakfast was just as good in the morning. The Kings Head team were all fun characters and just seemed to be enjoying doing what they do. Amazing...it made for a great weekend.

I saw on Google there is a restaurant which is named in tribute to Sir Norman Wisdom. I surprised my wife with a visit to have a lovely early morning breakfast in Deal as we are great fans and wanted to experience the tribute to him. We really enjoyed the breakfast with refillable coffee or tea and very polite and helpful staff who helped operate the drinks machine. There is an outside eating area also. There is plenty of options on parking nearby. The town centre is nearby including the beach which is just a bit further away. A great experience to be repeated.

Obviously food is the main thing and it's fantastic. Really interesting too. But I think the point to note is it's such a different experience from a standard restaurant. Like having a chef's taster menu, lots of small courses and you choose to go on a night where the menu is up your street. Really though, the fun is having dishes cooked and brought to you that you might not have chosen. It's so interesting trying new combinations . You feel exceptionally well looked after throughout. A bit like going to a really good chef's house for a dinner party I suppose. Very reasonable for what it is and the hard work that's gone in to every menu. Do yourself a favour, get a list of menus, choose a night that suits you, and have a wonderful treat of an evening.

Super polite staff who couldn't have done enough for you! They were so lovely, especially our waitress who was sweet and nice. Ordered poppadums first and they were, unfortunately, stale. As for the limited food we received the burgers were OK but smoothed in sauce. crab on potato totts was awful. Just a smigging of crab served on Icelands frozen potato totts. We ordered three different dishes, and every single one was bursting with beautiful, authentic flavours – just the right balance and the perfect portion sizes. Went in for an early dinner at 1715, the restaurant was quite but well staffed. The staff on site were fantastic, very attentive and had a great attitude. We were seated on one of the bigger tables, the seats were very comfortable and the table tops were clean and set out. Ordered the family platter, the bread and starter sauces were all fantastic, well spiced and freshly cooked. The grill came shortly after which was a great size and easily did us a family of four adults and two children. The meats were nicely flavoured and cooked well. All in all the food was a 5/5, the total stars would have also reflected this but lost one on the cleanliness of the floor under the table, it was covered in bits of rice and other foods from the previous customer, easily something missed by the cleaner but something that needs attention. We both had the traditional grilled lamb shish because: we’ve had had it before and it is always tender, tasty and cheaper than any we can buy locally and prepare ourselves at home these days. Why has lamb become so expensive when we can see thousands of them grazing all over the open fields of Kent? Too full at the end of our meal we skipped dessert but as always were treated to a packet or two of the most delicious Turkish Delight I have ever come across. Pomegranate and mint being 2 of my favourites are flown in from Turkey along with much of the other produce used in the restaurant and are none the worse for that. Special thanks to Ramo for the friendly and welcoming service and particularly for his cheerful help clearing up my partner’s mishap with a glass of red wine. Tip to first timers. We had a fantastic experience at this pub and I can honestly say it’s one of the best we’ve visited in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their friendly service and attention to detail. The food was excellent – freshly cooked, generous portions, and packed with flavour. There was a great choice on the menu to suit everyone, including options for the kids, which made things so much easier for us as a family. What really stood out was how kid-friendly the pub is. We paid by card and waited about 20 mins on the comfy sofa. Got the food home and it was all fresh and smelled amazing. The chicken korma was very good, and the poppadoms too. My bhuna was full of flavour and my garlic naan absolutely delicious. Saffron will be our go-to for Indian take away from now on. Highly recommend.
