Each of us had an Amaretto Sour before choosing a Chilean red and Camden pale ale. The cocktail was fantastic. I’m normally dubious about cocktails in pubs but this was delicious. We shared the Guinea Fowl pastry to start, and had the steak and ale pie and Pheasant for mains. Presentation was great, unfortunately all the dishes were missing flavour. Maybe the chef was having an off day as family had raved about the food. We finished with a few Negronis, which were also excellent. We were still peckish so enjoyed a few packs of pork scratchings. It’s a lovely pub and I would definitely come back to enjoy the ambiance and drinks.

However, the cherry on the top of this particular visit experience was the service. It was a French gentleman running front of house on the day I visited with my wife and daughter where quite simply he demonstrated a master class on how to do it expertly. With a warm smile, a cheery word and particularly rapid foot work he was greeting new guests and getting them settled, checking in on existing drinkers and diners, taking orders, handing out food and drinks, cleaning and setting up tables and slicing up and serving fresh bread and butter. In the excellent weather we enjoyed, I'd have been happy sitting at my table in the extremely pleasant garden surroundings for the remainder of the afternoon admiring the sheer skill in how this guy worked. Anyway... we found the menu to be extensive with choices for everyone. There was also a specials board where I chose the hot lobster dish which was particularly special. My wife and daughter also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Decent sized portions, (my daughter took half of hers as a takeaway), and top marks for visual presentation. We were in the area as our daughter was starting Uni locally. While it was a slightly tense day having built up to her departure from home, after getting her settled in her Uni accommodation that terrific pub lunch trip really helped reduce the stress levels and add an extra positive boost for us all. When we visit her, we'll definitely return to the Fox & Hounds as after just the one visit we already have a fond and lasting memory.

My friend showed me the pub one day when we were looking for a nice lunch. I was so impressed with the courgette fritters and the goat cheese salad. The main dish was the special of the day - a beef stew, that was cooked perfectly from the meat, the veg to the delicious mash and gravy. I came back recently with another friend and tried the Chicken Shnitzel while he had a Steak. His Steak was perfectly cooked throughout and all the garnish was amazin, but the winner was the chicken i ordered. We went to celebrate a birthday tonight and the staff really made it a special night for us. The food is fresh and tasty. The mocktails were divine. The portions were just right. We booked The Bailiwick for a Monday night meal with friends and I cannot recommend it enough. The service was personal, friendly and down to earth - we had great conversations with all of the staff that served us and really enjoyed learning about the food we were eating. I imagine parking is a challenge at the weekend, but we came on a Monday night and there was plenty available. It doesn't look like a lot from the look of the plates, but it felt like I'd never eat again by the time I left - you won't be hungry afterwards. I had the soup and rarebit for starter - what a brilliant idea to serve it with rarebit! Divine. Plus the knickerbocker glory for dessert - a proper treat, the ice cream was delicious. I cannot recommend The Bailiwick enough if you're looking for something exciting and different. Yes, it was a little more expensive than what I'd normally go for, but considering the quality of the food and the service I think it's well worth the price we paid. Another plus - we were getting a little nervous about how eagerly our sparkling water was being replaced as we thought we'd need to pay for it — not the case! You pay one price (£2 per person) and get unlimited sparkling water with your meal. We’ve visited the Bailiwick quite a few times now but this visit will definitely stand out. On saturday evening enjoyed a fantastic Game Tasting Menu of 7 courses which priced at only £80 was amazing value for money. We started the evening with a cocktail at the bar where we enjoyed a nice chat with owners Steven and Ami before taking our seats at the table. We chose a bottle of Lalande de Pomerol La Menotte 2022 that paired perfectly with every course. The menu started with a fabulous selection of Charcuterie and Snacks including Rabbit Chorizo , Pigeon Salami , Rabbit Rilette with Cheese Sable and a heavenly Pigeon Sausage Roll along with a game consommé. This was followed by the Parker House Roll with a Game Bird Liver Parfait , sage and onion butter. Next to come was an excellent Game Terrine , Stuffed Pheasant Leg and Woodcock which was accompanied by an Offal Cottage Pie. Each dish was cooked to absolute perfection and the flavour was stunning. This led us to dessert where first we enjoyed a Rhubarb and Custard pre dessert before the main desserts of an absolutely delicious Tiramisu and a Coconut Rice Pudding Tartlet. We finished with a coffee and sticky toffee doughnuts before being joined for another chat with Steven and Ami. This gave us a chance to personally thank them and the team for an amazing evening from not only the team in the kitchen but the front of house which was led superbly by Lewis. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bailiwick which is set on one of entrances to the Windsor Great Park. The food is amazing and you will be well looked after by the team. We arrived after having a spa treatment, there were 2 other people having food but they were towards then end of their meal and ready to pay. We were seated, and given the tea options but there was no real description of what the teas were on offer as no one explained and very few had labels on. After waiting for a bit someone came over and asked what tea we wanted, the teas arrived quite swiftly but they neglected to bring over the tea strainer so we had to wait a little bit longer for someone to come back into the room so we could ask for one. Service was a bit slow, I had to go out to the reception area to ask if I could pay the bill as no one else was around. It's a nice place just very slow service and very quiet. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the staff friendly. The pub is a quintessential English pub with lots of character. This didn’t include rice/bread which was extra as well as the drinks. They couldn’t guarantee the Gobi Manchurian was dairy free so I had Onion Bhaji which was excellent. This couldn’t be guaranteed gluten free so my wife had the chilli paneer which was nice but slightly hard on the edge. The keema (gluten free) was apparently excellent though I had to play spot the lentil in my veggie Dhansak which was distinctly average, seemed like mixed frozen veg. The Mango Sorbet was nice and my wife enjoyed the carrot pudding. Pleasant interior though rather cold and somewhat haphazard if generally friendly service. Some parking outside.

The décor was tasteful with a darker, more intimate vibe, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained throughout our visit.
