My initial impression was it's a really warm and welcoming pub, nice atmosphere and decor. There were just four of us and we had a booking. I had halloumi fries as a starter instead of a side dish, they were absolutely delicious! Three of us ordered seabass and the one of our other friends ordered the vegetarian cottage pie. Our food arrived swiftly, served by a very pleasant lady, Sheridene and the Chef was Ellen. (I only know these details as I was given a 'we value your opinion' slip when we paid our bill). When we were asked by our waitress if everything was OK with our food, I spoke up, that mine was just luke warm. I had tried the seabass and broccoli at this point. Immediately Sheriadene offered to replace my meal. I said I would be ok to continue with it, (I didn't want to wait and my friends be eating without me, even for a short time) before leaving she made sure I was completely ok with that. I, personally, found my meal a bit underwhelming overall, bland even, and that's very unusual for me. My other friends said theirs were ok. Three of us had mini puddings and coffee afterwards. This is a brilliant concept, as we all agreed, that many other restaurants don't offer this, and quite often we always like a coffee, but say no to a pudding, simply because it's usually too much after a full meal and nobody wants to embarrass ourselves by asking for two coffees and a pudding to share! This is a great compromise. The fact that my meal, to me, wasn't quite up to the mark was addressed swiftly and professionally. I would not want this review to reflect badly on this establishment, but I feel it is important that as an avid Google reviewer, not everything is perfect, all of the time, and it's important for me to be honest about every experience I have. The place has a lovely atmosphere, really friendly, helpful staff, many other 5* reviews, plenty of parking, so don't be put off by this one-off experience.

There looked to be 2 Indian restaurants to choose from within walking distance of each other. I must say we choose right (by chance). We received a warm welcome, the decor is modern and crisp. As for desserts I would skip the chocolate tart as it wasn’t as well rounded as the rest of the meal and go for the crumble, caramel sauce with the apples, yummy crumble and excellent custard. Our server was so lovely, she mentioned she had only been there for 3ish weeks but was delightful and thoughtful. Only thing is it is quite pricey, £120 for two not including tip, food and expenses are quite expensive now so I sort of understand but there are other places further afield that will be more experimental and better value but we definitely weren’t dissapointed with our meal!

The service was absolutely brilliant- staff are young but professional and attentive. The food came promptly and at just the right pace. It’s more about executing classic dishes well. The vibe is friendly and lively - it’s essentially a converted basement so very compact and gets pretty noisy once full. Decor is modern brasserie style with dashes of pop art. I felt we paid a lot for the meal- about £200 (including well deserved tip) for dinner for two and only one glass of wine each, which would have been fairly pricey in London. The pub is dog friendly and traditional inside. We had a walm welcome and were greated by the manager Julie, who brought over a towel to dry of our Leo, as he had been for a dip in the sea. A nice selection of ales on offer and lovely menu of homemade meals on offer. There is also a specials board on offer. I went for the homemade steak & mushroom ale pie. It was full of flavour and came with the most creamy of mashed potato, veg and a small jug if gravy. For dessert I had the lemon cheese cake which was also homemade. Very reasonably priced lunch for two. Large white wine, pint of ale, 2 mains and a dessert for £42. My compliments to the chef and a massive thank you to Julie for her hospitality. The Camembert is standard, but by far one of the best roasts I’ve tried in Eastbourne out of many. Around £16 which I find to now be on the lower side appallingly! During my time there I’ve spoken to the staff quite frequently and they claim they have a manger that also works there but I have never seen them and neither have any of the people I’ve spoken to (including people that are there most days ). And to top it off the chef is always swearing in what I believe to be polish very loudly and shouting at staff because they didn’t attend to the bell which was only rung 15 seconds prior to them getting into the kitchen. We visited right before Halloween so it was kinda busy but still quiet. There were lots of Halloween decorations up which was great theming, it's very cosy and spacious. The food is great, the location is superb and the facilities are top tier. Very nice pub to visit for a bit if you're visiting Pevensey.
