Even before we parked, we spotted the line of people waiting outside and knew right away that our 50-minute drive would be worth it. The pastries did not disappoint—everything we tried was absolutely delicious. While there’s no indoor seating, you can enjoy your fresh-baked treats on a bench right outside, which adds to the charm. It was also surprising to learn that most of the customers were locals who stop by almost every week—always a good sign! We were on our way back to Logan airport and I found this deli online. When I looked at the reviews I thought this would be a great place to stop to grab a bite to eat and purchase bagels and cream cheese to take home with us. We ordered a large bowl of matzoh ball soup for two and paid almost $17 for a bowl of tasteless water(far from a chicken broth)that I needed to add so much salt and pepper to be able to eat it. There were two matzo balls in the bowl, It was a lot of tasteless liquid which was definitely not seasoned chicken broth maybe six little scraps of chicken and a very few vegetables pieces at the bottom of the bowl. A server never came to the table to see if we needed anything or how the food was. I definitely would have mentioned it. I don’t understand why we were charged so much when a bowl of soup for one cost $6.75. We purchased a dozen bagels and a vegetable cream cheese to go as well. There are almost no vegetables in the cream cheese they might as well call it plain… vegetable cream cheese from the grocery store actually has way more vegetables than theirs. For $7 they could have put some vegetables in the cream cheese. Their prices are exorbitant and the food is not worth the price at all! We have eaten at Jewish delis all over the country much less in other countries and never had tasteless food like this restaurant served. I should’ve sent it back because it was awful. Obviously all of these reviews cannot be legitimate unless people just don’t know what a real Jewish deli serves and offers! If the food was good… I wouldn’t even mind paying the price but it was subpar to say the least! At least the bagels were not bad… but that is probably their claim to fame. I would definitely look for a different deli in the area if you want good food that is worth the money! Totally disappointing. From start to finish, it was great working with the team, Chris & Amanda! We emailed countless questions leading up to the day and they were always great in getting things answered and problem solving as needed. They have worked on many weddings and it shows why people continue to choose them. We had a wedding of about 60 guests and the space had more than enough room. We were able to utilize the patio space as well to get air when needed and so it was great to be able to spread out so comfortably. They could easily handle a larger wedding though as we originally were looking at higher numbers when we started. While your wedding day is overwhelming and you don't often get time to eat, the team made sure to bring us food on their upstairs balcony where we could hide out after our ceremony to eat and get a little quiet time away from guests. They also made sure to package anything we didn't eat (and the many leftover desserts that I overordered on from an outside source) for us to pick up the next day. We were so grateful for this and the food was still great as leftovers--truly! Their service is truly unmatched and they also are great in handling food restrictions/allergies--guests specifically noted this! They brought out smaller portions for those guests when needed so they still had enough options. We are still getting compliments on the food and drinks as well as atmosphere. We can't wait to celebrate many anniversaries eating dinner here too as the food is what absolutely sold us. We especially enjoyed getting to make our own cocktails which guests also raved about. An ingredient in something that isn’t cooked very hot. There’s zero regular olive oils for cooking. I mean that’s just ridiculous. Who is ordering this stuff? Do they know how to cook? Honestly. The nut selection is whack too. They had a decent variety of almonds and cashews taking up the whole space. For peanuts there was flavored-honey peanuts, and the option to grind your own peanuts. No unsalted peanuts is crazy. Especially when it’s a granola-vibe store. I’d expect to be able to get the ingredients to make my own granola here at least. Especially cause theirs is expensive and could only feed about one marsupial. It’s also bad. I didn’t really feel like talking to the deli people, so I couldn’t get slices of cheese…not everyone is able to talk to the staff confidently about that stuff. Again, I really don’t think these are high standards. It’s such an irregular inconsistent store. No plain Greek yogurt either. Allergy restricted items are great, but that’s not for everybody. They had flavors too, but they weren’t consistent. Am I the only one who would want/expect to see their aisle stocked with a few different brands, offering their own variety of flavors and size options. It’s just illogical how they do it. Also, the sales often don’t apply correctly at self checkout, but I’m already pissed at the store experience, so I just deal with it as to not harass the employee. The egg prices are also buck wild. Come on you guys, it’s not the time for having exclusively-picky, organic eggs. It was $10 for 12 eggs here. $7.49 for 18 eggs at Wegman’s in Chestnut Hill. I 100% recommend that store if you can get there instead. I would be willing to Uber there from this Whole Foods and bite that cost, just to have access to a selection of foods that can replenish my whole kitchen. Brookline has a lot of ethnic bakeries and Athan’s is among the local’s favorites. With its classic wooden interior and relatively large seating area, it offers a comforting atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful morning treat. During my recent visit, I was immediately greeted by the attentive staff, who guided me through their variety of Baklava. I got one of each and these bite-sized Baklava pieces were amazing – achieving the ideal balance of density and flakiness, with nutty fillings that were simply sublime. Among these, my favorites were the chocolate walnut and almond varieties. Their cake selection didn't disappoint either. The Napoleon puff pastry was delightful – light, airy, and spongy – while the Amendoa's delicate vanilla sponge and almond flavor was a pleasure. An unexpected highlight was the ham and cheese croissant, served warm from the oven, with enticing cheese crisps at its edges. Overall, a great bakery that serves amazing traditional pastries.
