The disappointment was the fact that the toilets are not for the old, frail or in wheelchairs as these are up a long flight of stairs. Then the obvious need of more staff as the empty trays were building up on the bench above the bins. Would have loved more grilled meats on the menu. Upon the quick reply from the owner which is impressive as that is what good feedback is all about. TOP points there then. So there IS a bathroom DOWNSTAIRS and it would be handy to have a sign for those who are in wheelchairs or unable to get up stairs. This is something that I now make sure we find at any new place we go to as I have friends who have kids in wheelchairs, or my friends are wheelchair bound. So at times I will email the cafe/restaurant before to find out these things. But most have toilets downstairs, plus I saw how BIG your establishment was and thought you certainly would have a bathroom downstairs. But all is good and next time we will ask for the bathroom which is downstairs. Thankyou. But YES more signage needed so we can find that bathroom and am sure some with frail parents or even with kids, would find it easier to go to a downstairs toilet. Well next time I will ask for new things on the menu that I normally don't order so we can enjoy our day out even more.

Offering all types of flavours of Bagels & fillings. I had the Roasted Vegetable & Herb Fetta with Rocket filling in a ‘Salt & Rosemary Bagel’ which was $14.50. The roasted Vegetables were great- especially the warm Pumpkin & Red Capsicum. I personally would prefer sliced marinated Fetta with a stronger taste- like Bulgarian or Greek Fetta. The pastries are nice overall with some standouts, but when you pay a premium price and get something that I believe should've been taken off the shelf, it just ruins the whole experience. The standouts: - hazelnut croissant: the frangipane is chewy with some caramelised flavour. - pistachio croissant Not bad but wouldn't buy again given the standout options: - brownie croissant - Ham n cheese croissant - white sourdough The horrible: chocolate babka I don't understand, did they not have someone to taste this? It's like the recipe is completely wrong. Firstly I expected Babka to be soft, but okay, I'm open to other styles of bread. The crust was crispy and dry (not in a pleasant way). The bottom of the loaf was gross, when you bite into it, it gushes with grease. Then the bread itself has some acceptable parts where the dough actually had risen, but it's mixed with layers that seemed like it didn't rise and tastes uncooked. I've attached photos and you can see there are layers of thick dough that didn't fluff up. Who wants to eat pressed together layers of dough that's hard, tough, chewy and flavourless? As I mentioned, this would've been a much better review if I didn't get the babka. I would still recommend the pistachio and hazelnut croissant. But after spending $60+ on bread, if I'm given a really bad item, I just can't help but feel ripped off.

It took around 20 minutes to receive the burgers, so we were already pressed for time. Combine that with a runny yolk and… you can see why I’m a little iffy about a beef patty being served pink. With only 2 days mid week to head out, we made our way up and missed both windows on both days, they were sold out! Thankfully I pre-ordered for the Friday and finally got a chance to try these acclaimed Croissants. I'm sad to say that after so many years documenting my quest for Australia's best Almond Croissants, Zelda left me incredibly disappointed. It was very deflated, almost somewhat moist and the 2 halves didn't even hold together from the limited frangipani filling, alongside not having the airiness and flakiness you'd want in the perfect bake, each bite was somewhat one dimensional and lacked depth and layers. Artisan, Baker Bleu, Monforte, Cheri, Lune etc On the positive, the choc babka, fruit palette and the cheese danish were delicious and worth a visit. I got that viral matcha Pain suisse, Chilli & cheese pastry & the Kouign Amann. The pain suisse was definitely a standout. Very crispy pastry, the filling was so generous with a pretty strong matcha flavour. Little pockets of yuzu jam added nice tangy citrusy twists. Will come back for this and highly recommend it to all matcha lovers. If you haven’t tried this, you should. The chilli twist was tasty, packed a kick and quite garlicky. Yum! The Kouign Amann I was anticipating the most but turned out a bit underwhelming. I could taste the orange, but kinda wish the pastry was a touch more caramelised with the sugar coating and with more flavours laminated inside. Still enjoyed it though.

We had coffees (soy lattes and flat whites), birches muesli and avocado on toast with ricotta and side of spinach. $59. Alas avocado came with poached eggs so husband had these. Quite generous serving and I couldn't finish so I'd made mistake adding spinach. District Brewer is really light and airy and has lots of seating outside as well (front and back). Very kid friendly as evidenced by kids menu and a whole shelving unit set up with books, colouring materials etc etc. They are obviously popular as inside a couple of large tables had reserved signs on them. They also have a selection of sweet and savoury items to takeaway.
