Allan and I and our two doggies CJ a 23 month retriever and Sadie aged 5 a cavachon came across this hotel b&b online and thought we would give it a go. The £160 for 3 nights including breakfast was the temptation and dogs go free and in the town centre just off of the square. Well we werent disappointed we learnt that it was recently under new management with Chris and Allan is Manager and what a happy welcoming guy he is nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in room 7 it was bright and airy very comfortable beds and overlooked town just perfect there was even a fan in the room which I love. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower with lots of lovely hot water was what you need and lovely white towels. Theres plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits complimentary as well which is a nice touch. A complete surprise was on Mondays which was the day we arrived certain beers were half price including Wainwrights Smooth and Bomberdier so what a plus that was £2.80 per pint. Theres plenty of car parking in towon but you can park behind the hotel for 45 mins for off loading and loading luggage which was a huge help. We are booking in every month now for a few nights as it was just perfect. In the past we have regularly stayed at Inn on the Square and Mary Mount Hotel but the prices are now completely ridiculous. Thanks again Chris and Allan for a great stay we will be back 💃🕺🐶🐶

The unsalted chips were freshly fried when served. However, the sausage and chips was a bit out of our expectation because of the obvious imbalance between sausage and chips. We quickly nipped in almost by accident because we missed the bus and couldn’t face an hour in the freezing cold. I went in first to see if it was okay to bring the dog in. The sofas are big, comfortable chesterfields and everyone seems to know each other even if it’s their first time there. The whole place has the feeling of a living room filled with love. It’s hard to explain but it’s what I imagine the living room from the Burrows (Ron’s house in Harry Potter) feels like. This is a real testament to Simone who is one of the loveliest, warmest, most interesting and authentic people I’ve met. As soon as she starts talking to you, it’s likes you’ve known her forever. She has a natural gift for bringing people together in a really wonderful way. I only had a hot drink because it was the end of the day but the hot chocolate was wonderful! Full of marshmallows and cream (all the good stuff). If I could sum this place up in one word it would be SOUL. From the people, to the food, the decor and even the tea cups - everything about this place has so much character which is getting rarer and rarer to find these days. No offer of sitting down with the menu whilst waiting so 7 of us waited outside, the lady then opened the door to a dozen other people that came after us and made no attempt at any courtesy for us at all. We walked off to the lakeside restaurant down the road, had superb service with cooked breakfast and drinks and happily handed over £125 to someone that appreciated it. However we stumbled upon this comfortable looking place in the centre and thought yes. Family friendly it said on their advertising board. There was quite a long queue outside so we had to wait for a table, but the staff were clearly doing everything possible to seat people as soon as possible. Very nice big light space and the menu was good with varied dishes to suit everyone. I had the Venison burger which was really nice. Big and juicy with a lovely flavour and a fresh bun. My sister & I were mooching our way around Keswick on Saturday night and we popped in for a drink. We could see they were setting up for some live music so thought we would stay for a just a song or two before continuing our pub crawl around Keswick. We never left! The band were epic. The place was buzzing. Only 2 bar staff on - but my goodness they deserve a pay rise. Great service. Great atmosphere. Next time to come over to Keswick for a weekend we will definitely be back. We only found out thos place had changed to Greene king as we got the menus, as we had to not eat at the Dog and gun as it was a Greene King. Tbf the food was okay nothing special, unfortunately we had an hour wait for it, one of our meals was cold but with the wait we decided to just get on with it. I will say they where very short staffed. The manager who had just taken over was superb when he found out our meals had been so long. My stars perhaps should of been a 3.

Ordered and paid for two starters and two mains, one main being a mixed grill. Sat waiting for 20 minutes for starters to be told there was no gammon steak for the mixed grill. Rather than apologising the staff member stood staring at the table like it was my problem they had no gammon. I asked if I could have an extra chicken breast as a replacement. We waited another 5 minutes for an answer to be told there was no steak either. Having looked at the menu again I didn’t want anything else so therefore had no choice but to leave. I then asked for a refund for the entire meal except the drinks. After a refund there still wasn’t any kind of apology for the inconvenience. Now I wouldn’t mind but this was a birthday meal and it’s dampened a good day.

If you’re going to employ one chef only, make sure he arrives on time!!
