I decided to place an order for a gluten free cake (even though they’re pricey) as I wanted to ensure it would be good. (Moisture is typically the issue) I had no issues picking it up and the cake tasted great. However while enjoying it there was a slight issue with the combining of ingredients it seemed. I reached out and was surprised to receive a very generous discount towards my next order, along with sincere apologies. A few weeks later I placed another order for a cake using the discount, this time for a regular chocolate cake. Upon picking it up there was a mix up with the writing, which was promptly corrected however not to the nicest level of presentation. Evidently frustrated by my on going troubles, one of the owners who happened to be there that day came and spoke with me to explain some of what had happened and offer his apologies. I was yet again surprised by a gift of 6 of the most beautiful spring donuts, which were delicious too. So even after all of this, I will definitely be going back in the future. The way the owner and other employees responded shows they care about what they are doing and only want to improve. They went above and beyond to make sure I left with a smile. Bagels are really chewy and dense — which I actually really like, but might not be everyone’s thing. They are definitely fresh, they were still warm when I purchased them. I preferred the everything to the sundries tomato bagel, as I found the sun dried tomato bagel didn’t have much flavor. We picked up a pack of hamburger buns, which were also pretty good. The main purposed of my visit was for the hot crossed buns, and they were just okay. I found them to have a very strong nutmeg taste. Almost like someone accidentally put too much. I am not sure if this is normal — as I have never had a hot crossed bun where you could taste the nutmeg so distinctly. I felt this really took away from the overall flavor as it was all you tasted. Otherwise, they were fresh, well baked, and had lots of fruit in them. I would be interested to try them again to see if it was a mistake?!
