The restaurant had a lovely relaxed ambience and was very clean and well presented. The menu was fantastic, it was difficult to choose what to order as it was all so tempting. We decided to go for the taster menu to get a great selection and it did not disappoint! We also added a couple of bao buns as we couldn’t resist. We enjoyed every dish - particular favourites were the prawn toast (such a delightful mouthful!) The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection, and the beef Rendang was the best I’ve ever had. The pork belly melted in your mouth and I’ve never had tofu as silky as this. Not to mention the custard bun - what a wonderfully rich, sweet vanilla custard! To top it off the service from Ming was wonderful, she really cared about our dining experience and made sure everything was to our liking. To top it all off, we had the pleasure of talking to Larkin which was lovely. He is such a talented, yet humble chef! We highly recommended it and would love to return.

No egg No peanuts No sauce No chilli No herbs Yes - I had a few burnt prawns , noodles, spring onions and bean sprouts. Bland and boring. When I asked for it to be recooked I was told it would be the same as that’s how they did it here 🤣 The atmosphere was quiet. However other diners (I presume hotel guests) clearly were not following the dress code and staff didn’t care. Gym clothing and even what would pass as pyjamas and flip flops. But we were so glad we went! Ming was so helpful from start to finish. We ordered lots of dishes to try and we weren’t sure of the sizes but she was very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. The food was delicious!! Fresh, well cooked, flavourful and the Katsu sauce was out of this world. It’s made fresh in their kitchen and you can tell. I wish I had the recipe!! The service is fantastic - particularly Ming who is always helpful and very knowledgeable on the cuisine and how to best enjoy, and the woman who I assume is the supervisor (I think her name was Leanne) who despite dealing with some horrendously rude guests was still friendly and kept our section of the restaurant a little quieter after hearing we had had a stressful week. The food is very high quality and tastes superb although potentially some people find it a little spicy compared to usual British cuisine. The reality is it is part of the Celtic Manor Resort - it isn’t going to be cheap - so if you’re looking for a cheap night out head somewhere else.

Very close to the city centre, this restaurant has a huge menu with plenty of options. They have a signature menu and drinks menu apart from the regular menu. We tried Veg Jalfrezi, Lahori Biriyani, Grill platter, Tikka starter, Paneer starter, Pappadam with chutney bowl and hot beverages. All the food we tried were amazing and worth the money. The only negative id think of is that there are no chai/ desi drinks on their menu, apparently because they don’t sell much in this British dominated area. The restaurant is immaculately presented, you would never think it was in the middle of Newport and the atmosphere was lovely. The service we experienced was also 10/10 with lots of friendly and attentive staff. Where do I start? The food was incredible from start to finish. The lamb chops were tender and flavoursome accompanied with a salad and yoghurt sauce packed with flavour. Then the main..a dish recommended by the host to suit my preference something that packs a punch but isn’t too hot…and oh lord did they deliver. We were staying local and decided to dine here, we are so glad we did. The staff were so welcoming, we even had a tour of the rest of the restaurant which has 250 covers all of which was beautifully decorated with ample space between tables. Both myself and husband had poppadoms and pickle tray whilst we viewed the extensive menu. We had starters of shami kebab and tandoori fry, both delicious. For mains I had the Bombay beef which was very well spiced and the beef very tender. My husband had lamb pathia which he said was one of the best he had tasted, all food was delivered hot. Ahmed and his team should be very proud of their restaurant, well done! If you want a delicious meal with plenty of parking and great service I definitely recommend dining here.

In that regard I was correct and the food was as expected. A bit bland. That said there was a decent range off curries to choose from including your usual sides. Staff were friendly and attentive. What really knocked the the stats down was cleanliness and hygiene. Upon taking a jelly from the fridge one I could see there was mold on top of the jelly. They clearly don't have any use by date system in place as this must have been I'm the fridge a good while. Secondly. Using the toilets I noticed a damaged seat with sharp plastic. Other reviews also mention this. Thirdly upon turning around in the toilet I noticed a lot of toilet roll had been thrown all over the wall above the door. Easy to notice and it had clearly been there for a long time. Any decent restaurants that values cleanliness would remove it. This may explain yhe 2 star council rating. Cleanliness and hygiene isn't hard.

It was just disgusted since the welcome. Wish I knew the name of that man who was super arrogant and greedily tried charging us £20pp when we arrived before 4pm since he confirmed it was £15 pp before 4pm. Paid car park nearby. Overall a fantastic experience, food was of a high standard and service was exceptional!. Took my mum for her birthday we all enjoyed our meals and felt it was great value for money. The waitress went out of her way to ensure we were ok and she even gave our little one some paper and pen to keep her entertained whilst waiting for food. They offer a £5 meal for kids with options, our daughter opted for egg fried rice with chicken balls and curry sauce. This was helpful as most young children don't eat much so the buffet would've been wasted on her. I Was almost put off by some negative reviews on TripAdvisor and other places but glad we went and took the chance. So glad we found this place looking for a restaurant open on a Monday night. Food was excellent especially king prawn starter and honey and duck dish. Also great for vegetarians as all the standard dishes could be served with choice of meats, tofu or vegetables. I call it a hidden gem as it is away from the food offerings of friars walk but if you want to enjoy a non chain restaurant you can find them in this area of Newport. We only had soft drinks and the bar choice did not look extensive however if you are looking for good food at the right price it is a good choice. We had a starter and main course plus rice each and one side dish for £14 per person. We'll be back!

I've been using the Railway for about 20 years and as a long established business, they have certainly perfected their food. Everything is made fresh to order and is consistent in flavour and quality. The staff are great too - you are always met with a friendly smile and cheerful attitude. They also do a loyalty discount where you collect tokens depending on spend and can exchange them for money off future orders. Food is all reasonably priced anyway. Plenty of on street parking outside when you collect your order. Highly recommended - it's good enough that I drive from Cardiff to collect from there.
