We went to have iftar here and was extremely disappointed - wish I stayed at home and cooked instead. 1. Water and dates were put on our table without any communication- we initially thought this was complimentary to break our fast with as they didnt say anything. At the end, we see we were charged for the water. If this was the case, this should've been communicated which we then wouldn't have bought an additional drink. 2. Ordered a strawberry mojito - got a classic one instead. Sent it back and the waiter just added a huge amount of strawberry syrup on top which even after stirring just tasted like thick syrup mixed with water and undrinkable. 3. Ordered Bombay bombs as starters - received Bao Buns instead. As it was time to break fast, we let this be. The other starter we ordered was Tikka Sushi which was disgusting and just covered in an overwhelming amount of crispy onions. 4. Ordered the mixed grill - it didn't come yet they tried charging us for it. when we bought this to the waiters attention, there wasn't even any apology, just corrected it - shit service. 5. Ordered peshwari naan - received plain naan instead. 6. Mains we got sylheti lamb and butter chicken - by far the worst curries i've ever tasted. 7. The food was that bad that I heard a family sat beside us who were complaining of how 'disgusting' the food was. 8. After leaving this place, both me and my husband got a stomach ache from eating here. We didn't say anything at the time as it is ramadan and we wanted to just get out of there but as someone who was fasting all day, I didn't expect to go out for iftar and try filling myself up with water because the food was that bad. Don't believe the hype you see on social media - really not worth it. Staff were very friendly and received free popadoms and dips and they had a delicious mocktail menu which I was very happy about as I am pregnant. All our food was out within 20-25 minutes and honestly it was one of the best Indians I have had in a very long time. For 2 rounds of drinks, starter, 2 curries, 2 rice, naan bread and masala fries came to about £70 which is honestly so reasonable for how much you get and the taste. Already planning to come back for our next date night and cannot wait to try the cocktails with how good the mocktails were 🙂

They have eaten in restaurants up and down the country so wasn't going to book just anywhere. I read the great reviews of village Indiya and booked for 8 o clock Saturday. I was surprised how small the place was and how busy. Every table was occupied with a narrow gangway down the centre with waiters rushing back and forth. We were seated in a small waiting area along with several people collecting take away and were offered drinks. As we drank our Cobra's more and more people came through the door with bookings until the waiting area was packed with more waiting outside. After 35 minutes of this I was beginning the think I had made a mistake when a table of four donned their coats and departed. The table was quickly cleaned and set and we were seated. The service was fast and efficient with poppadoms and dip's arriving in minutes. The menu had a few additions to the usual offerings and the waiters were happy to answer our questions. We went straight to mains choosing Tandoori mixed grill, chicken Jalfrezi, lamb Madras, pilau rice, onion bhaji and peshwari naan. The food was excellent, portion size good and polished off enthusiastically by the three of us. We all agreed it was the best Indian meal we have had and has reset the bar for Indian food. The place itself was beautiful and it is set in a nice area. The food was also amazing, I had the prawn Kurma. My family all enjoyed their meals too and for most, it was their first time having Indian food! Highly recommend the food! However, the service was not so great, we were rushed to order food and couldn't really enjoy our drinks without someone wanting to take a glass every few minutes. Portion size was good , price was around £15 per person. For some reason the curry came in takeaway box even though we selected eat in? I got medium to be on the safe side and luckily I like spice as it was hot ( hotter than medium).
