Its the size of a regular at most places. Broth is on the sweeter side. The tendon and tripe was not present, couple pueces of meat. I dont get the upcharge if you dont include enough of it. Ordered a banh mi. $13 for what would be considered a single bahn mi at most places. The bread was not a french baguette. It was soft like a roll with meat inside. The chicken was seasoned well, but the pate was lacking. Self serve drinks and silverware. Seats are not comfy. Tables were small and cramp. Tables werent clean when we arrived, had to push the trays to the other end of the bench so we can eat on one half. And it just sat there the whole time. Wouldnt return. Would make the drive to other pho locations next time.

Given that it was late. About an hour before closing. it was not very good. The waitress took forever to come to our table and ask about drinks. Thai and Vietnamese are plentiful and as well as sub-par Chinese buffets. Asian Fusion has been missing with the possible exception of Saiwok, thou it was kind of a thing a few years back nationally. Komodo fills that gap taking over the space once held by Mellow Mushroom Pizza. It’s a large completely remodeled space done very clean, very modern. We were impressed with the decor and atmosphere when we came in for lunch. Our server was terrific offering information and suggestions on the menu. We started with the Lemongrass BBQ Ribs. They were a hit being perfectly cooked tender with a nice sauce that wasn’t too sweet thou there was too much of it. Strangely missing from the ribs was the taste of Lemongrass but they were quite good. The Shaking Beef (Bo Luc Lac) was served a bit deconstructed with the watercress off to the side but all the other ingredients mixed. The filet was cooked nicely and the slices of jalapeño were a bit of a surprise, glad I like spice. The Shrimp Fried Rice was decent but could have used more shrimp. All the dishes were good, but just good. Flavors didn’t burst and were very one dimensional with no basil, ginger, etc undertones. Several reviews have been critical of price for quality. I believe the atmosphere and service and good food probably justifies the prices however there are just too many good Asian restaurants for me to choose Komodo on a regular basis without significant improvement in the food. My guess is that they have wrongly gaged the local patrons unwilling to accept true Asian flavors so they’ve adjusted their recipes accordingly. I’d suggest some research since Pho Thanh, Saiwok and others are packed. Unless Komodo upgrades offerings like their Spring Rolls with unique ingredients there’s just no reason to pay more than twice what others are charging, same with the Bahn Mi, Pho and other usually inexpensive dishes.

My wife eats a plant based diet, so finding good dining spots can be a challenge. We enjoyed the food and the experience, but there were some issues. The dining area itself is...loud. The drink and dining experience was very good. Entrees were very good, and the cocktail I ordered was top-notch. The wait staff uses a team approach, meaning we that any of the staff might bring a drink, take your order, etc. That is fine except I ordered a beer when my entree arrived and that order was lost. For our appetizer, we ordered the House Sampler. We ended up bringing some home because there was plenty to share with extras left over. The Mini Bahn Xeo was my favorite, and I crushed the mint leaf to rub on top. When dipped into the sauce, all of the flavors just complemented one another so well. The Bo Xiem Tam also was excellent with tasty seasoning and perfectly prepared. My husband enjoyed the Cha Gio, too. If looking to try multiple options, you won't go wrong with this sampler. Our entrees chosen were: Bun Thit Nuong (husband) and Pra Sam Rod (me). He enjoyed his meal and shared that it all tasted good. My sea bass dish was outstanding. Loving sea bass, I thought the preparation sounded unique, and it didn't disappoint. We also enjoyed sharing the pineapple fried rice. Stopped here for lunch with my partner and really wanted to try it out simply because of the photos of the place and it lived up to the energy. Definitely a great place to turn a frown upside down.
