By far the best fish and chips in Bedford. Been a regular here for about half a year now. I’ve tried many fish and chips shops in Bedford but this one never disappoints. The owner is a lovely chap. Every single order is made fresh in front of your eyes, other places have fish just sitting there getting soggy. The fish is just crispy all the time. An absolute shame they closed the previous google page down, due to ‘suspicious’ behaviour. If you ask me, it’s because they had 99% fantastic reviews which were all genuine?! This was a treat for the lads at work and it felt more like a punishment, really poor food quality and chicken was well overcooked and dry compared to the other establishments in the Bedford area this is by far the worst and deserves less than the 2 star rating I gave it but I do have to give them a chance, maybe an off day, I think it's placed in the perfect place for me as it's the furthest away from me a I rarely come to this side of town.
Friendly advice avoid this place unless there really is no other option. There are far better places to eat on this road or just off it.

But when I order off the main course menue for £17.50 that is suppose to be mixed shish kebab, on a bed of rice, with a separate salad and turkish bread, accompanied by 2 pots of sauce..... and they fob you off with your meat in a pitta bread with some salad on the side...... it is not acceptable. Please serve what is stated on your menu and be consistent with this.

Such a shame writing this. As a family we used to be huge fans of Andreas Pizza and most birthdays would buy a tray of pizza. Having been years since i'd ordered from here I thought i'd give it a go and what a mistake that was. First of all the lady taking orders was absolute clueless, had poor customer service and had an attitude when she couldn't understand the question which was being asked. Second, the quality of the food was horrific! Quality of the dough was tough and was super salty but that wasn't the worst of it; they have a policy of ONE pepperoni per slice of pizza which is insane. What's with the rationing? Even Dominos, as mainstream as it is, gives more for your money and at better quality. Was such a mistake ordering from here and in future will be ordering from either Flying Pizza, Santaniello or Naughty Pizza. Andreas really has lost its reputation.

I’ve visited the McDonald’s on High Street in Bedford a few times and overall, I have mixed feelings. The location is very convenient – right in the city center, so it’s easy to pop in while shopping or running errands. The restaurant itself is fairly spacious, although it can get really crowded during peak hours.
The staff were friendly but sometimes a bit slow – during busy times, the wait for food was longer than I expected. The food was standard for McDonald's: tasty, fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary. Big plus for the burger being well put together and the fries being hot and crispy.
One downside is definitely the cleanliness – tables were sometimes left messy, and the bins filled up quickly. You can tell the staff are trying to keep up, but it’s a challenge when the place gets busy.

EDIT/UPDATE: I tried this place again recently. It was close to closing time but they said they were open for another half hour and still serving. I think they may have finished cooking.
Food. A decent sized medium cod, but it had been sitting in a warmer for a while and was barely warm. The batter was very greasy. The chip portion was huge, but a lot of the chips were very small and stuck together. Again, not very warm.

Found ourselves in need of a new chip shop after our local went considerably downhill so we got a takeaway from here last night and it was very tasty and not bad value at all! I was a bit sceptical due to a few reviews saying the cod was “more batter than fish” but the cod I had couldn’t have been further from that. It was perfectly crispy with tasty, fluffy cod in the middle. My husband had a battered sausage and saveloy and my son had a doner kebab wrap. They also loved theirs! The large chips was a huge portion which fed the 3 of us with plenty left over. We ordered and then went to wait outside as it started to get busy. There wasn’t a long wait for food and the guy even bought it outside to us which was really appreciated. £5.60 for a medium cod which was a very decent size. Wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Disappointing Experience Despite Tasty Pizza
Ordered via Just Eat. We’ve had a few pizzas recently round at friends’ houses and decided to try Papa Gigi’s again, having had one last week that was lovely. The pizza this time was also very good — no complaints there.
However, the portion size of the chips was ridiculous — barely enough for one person. My wife called to ask about it and was told, “Yeah, I can explain, we’re running out.” No apology, no explanation up front — just a shrug of the shoulders.
Customer service was pretty much non-existent. Ideally, they should’ve contacted us before the order went out, or offered an alternative. Instead, they just told us to deal with it via Just Eat. Thankfully, Just Eat refunded the chips.
I used to love Papa Gigi’s back in the late ’80s and ’90s and didn’t even realise it was still open — but sadly, after this experience, I won’t be returning.

Received phone order on time but when opened pizza it was on the verge of burnt so tasted crispy! Also we ordered two portions of chips which turned out to be frozen crinkle cut chips from a supermarket and one portion had a lot less in it than the other! When we opened the order, the portion of chips was extremely disappointing — served in a foil container that was less than half full and cold. Unfortunately, the pizza and the complimentary garlic cheese mushrooms were also cold.
I called the restaurant to raise my concerns about the chips, and was told by the staff member that they were aware of the issue, as they were running out of chips. While I understand that mistakes happen, it would have been much more helpful — and respectful — to let us know at the time of ordering that chips weren’t available. We could have made other arrangements instead of receiving an incomplete, cold meal.
In the end, we had to cook frozen chips ourselves and eat them after finishing the now-cold pizza. It’s frustrating that the restaurant knowingly sent out substandard portions without any communication. Although cold, the pizza was flavoursome.
I hope Papa Gigi takes this feedback seriously and improves both their food quality control and communication with customers going forward.

Our first time trying their vegan pizza and I've got to say, it didn't disappoint! The staff are really friendly, and it seems like it's a place that genuinely wants to cater to vegans, which is always nice to find! The food here is brilliant - absolutely delicious! However, the service definitely needs improvement, especially regarding the behavior of some staff members. Please remind them to treat customers with kindness and respect; after all, without customers, there wouldn’t be a business or jobs for them. I recently visited Pepe's Piri Piri in Bedford and overall had a great experience. The flame-grilled chicken was full of flavour and cooked just right—tender, juicy, and with that nice bit of spice that hits without being too much. I went for the chicken wrap with fries and a drink, and everything was fresh and tasty.
The place was clean, and service was fairly quick during my visit. Staff were polite and kept things moving.
That said, I have seen (and once experienced) some inconsistency in food quality—like slightly dry chicken or food not being as hot as it should be. Another server bought the fresh burger over to us, (the only reason we didn't leave the store immediately was because my friend was in the middle of her meal) he said he didn't eat pork, I asked what he would do if he was given a burger with pork in when he specifically asked for no pork - he said he would walk out after receiving his refund and not return to the store: good advice mate 👍🏽 your manager couldn't even offer a refund....

Came here tonight for the first time with my partner. Initially, the queue was long and we figured we’d be there for a good while. However, they were adequately staffed meaning the queue moved quickly. we ordered large chips, two jumbo sausage and curry sauce. It was superb! Credit to the site team as it was one of the cleaner restaurants that we had visited.
Only slight negative which I would have deducted only half a star for is that the Big Mac burger was warm and not hot, but it does have cold salad and gurkin placed on it so I guess they are fighting a loosing battle.

This restaurant is an absolute disgrace! Last time I picked up my order and discovered at home that one burger was missing. I couldn’t return that day. The next day, I came back asking for my missing burger or a refund, and they rudely refused, saying I should have come back the day before. Is this even acceptable? Where’s the accountability? The service is nonexistent!
I tried calling the restaurant on the day of the incident — of course, no one answered the phone. Yesterday, I decided to give them another chance and ordered takeout again. I checked the order on the spot — and guess what? One burger was missing again! Is this some kind of joke? Only after expressing my frustration did they finally give me the missing burger, but by then, my mood was already ruined.
When I got home, the burger looked like it had been thrown together for livestock — crooked, sloppy, and falling apart. It looked like it had been tossed around the kitchen before being packed. The fries were cold and completely unsalted. The wait time was ridiculous, even though my order was marked “ready” on the screen. But when I approached, no one bothered to hand it over.

Food arrived freezing cold for starters and you can imagine my surprise when I find my £12 kebab was basically 2 strands of Donner meat and 3 small bits of chewy lamb shish. There was no flavour and it smelt awful.

The Lamb doner meat at Flames Grill is deliciously thick and meaty. The quality of the doner meat has noticeably improved since a previous visit about 18 months ago. Pleasantly surprised, everything was packed with flavor. I'm accustomed to American Chinese cuisine so this is quite different but still delicious in its own way. Chicken balls had lovely breading and juicy chicken, curry sauce had nice depth. Vermicelli noodles had good kick and flavor (and tastes even better the next day 😋). Ordered via uber eats at 5pm, said delivery was supposed to be at 5.30pm. At 5.31pm my ordered got cancelled via uber by the merchant (the Chinese shop). I called the restaurant as uber wouldnt help me as order cancelled and the first person I spoke to was slightly confused but said they accidentally cancelled it, they were supposed to cancel a different order. Food arrived luke warm so it was clearly the first orders food and not a fresh batch. Really upset by how I was spoken to after they made a mistake. I've lived in Kempston for 5 years and have been ordering from these guys for the same amount of time, and not once have I ever had an issue with them. The pizzas, wings and cookies always arrive piping hot, I've never had a mixed up order from them and even the delivery drivers always appear chipper. As a family we have used Kempston Kebab for years now and have never been disappointed. The quality of the food is normally excellent and staff great. I don’t know what happened today but I can honestly say we will never use them again. I ordered a doner kebab with extra salad and a portion of chips extra salt and vinegar through their website. I don’t really complain about much but I was pretty annoyed by now. I phoned them to request another meal I was told I requested chilli sauce check my receipt funnily enough I didn’t have a receipt wasn’t given one by the delivery driver. I don’t like chilli sauce so it’s not something I would have asked for but they argued this fact practically calling me a liar. What about the burnt black and hard meat I ask I’m trying to stay friendly and I hear them having a discussion about me as if I’m not able to hear. It was really unpleasant and totally unnecessary. I’m trying to figure out why they can’t just say no problem of course we will send you another meal. You are a good customer and have been for years. Instead I heard one of them bark tell her we will replace kebab not chips and we want the original kebab back!!!! Wow really well ok then. What would it cost just to have been polite. My new kebab arrives in minutes. Tiny bit of salad and I kid you not burnt hard meat and then I find a hair. How sad is that. This must be a joke. If I had been treated in a polite courteous manner I probably wouldn’t have bothered with this review but the terrible food and such poor service together just did it for me today. All I wanted was what I had payed for nothing more and now they have lost 3 families custom. What a shame!!!

Although my order was missing the chicken balls, when I called up the staff were incredibly understanding. To be fair, it was partly my fault as I didn’t check the food right away—I usually eat later because I need to get my baby bathed and to bed first. About two hours later, I went to plate it up and realized the item was missing.
Even though they could have thought I’d just eaten them and reported it as forgotten, they were amazing and arranged delivery with the next available driver. They even included two extra fortune cookies as an apology!
I was really impressed and will definitely recommend them. I’ll make sure to check my orders in the future, but I couldn’t be happier with the service I received.

The crispy chilli beef was horrible, chewy thick and soggy. And I had some sort of mucus plug in my food which is just vile. Really disappointed as I’ve always come here but recently the food gets worse and worse, more bland each time. We have used this place for over 2 years as a Chinese takeaway in Bedford as others we have tried have been terrible. Just Eat no longer say they deliver out to us (despite being awarded a loyalty discount last time as we use it so often) call them and they say they do deliver but now only want cash or bank transfer as payment, cannot pay with a card. Use somebody else as the people we spoke to tonight seem uninterested in retaining our business and lied when they said they would call us back but when we phone 20 minutes later they said they hadn’t said so! Average ish as a Chinese, even though we have stuck with them as the others tried so far shouldn’t even be serving Chinese food. Will not bother with these people anymore as there must be a better place and somewhere more willing out there to buy your food from!

I don't live in Bedford but when I visit I order from here because I love Chinese food and because of specific dietary requirements that this place caters for. I have been going tiger lily for a while now. Have tried many Chinese in bedford/kempston but tiger lily is by far my favourite. Main reason I like going here is that the chicken curry has a hot option. I usually find Chinese chicken curry too bland but the hot option makes it taste so dam good. I don’t usually complain about restaurants, but I couldn’t leave this unmentioned.
I went to order a taco beef sub and was told about the included salad. I said I’d like to swap the tomato and onion for olives and jalapeños. I was then told you couldn’t swap the salad but you could swap the sauce.
I then politely said that this was the first subway that I had been to in the many years of visiting where you couldn’t swap the salad. This friendly young assistant then mentioned it to Paulina who reiterated what she said, so I politely replied with my point about the salad swap.
I’d have been more gracious if she hadn’t condescended and insulted me by saying “aww bless you….” At which point I just stormed o out of the store!
I then went to the one at Riverfield drive, ordered exactly the same thing and guess what… I could change the salad!
Please teach your staff some customer service otherwise the next time this happens it probably wont be as diplomatic!

I went here for lunch today and the food was great. I walked in and the place seemed clean, tidy and welcoming. I really enjoyed my tex Mex 6in sub however it could have been better. I asked the male staff member 3 times NOT to put peppers on my sandwich as I don't like them. His response was "but it comes with it" on the 3rd time of asking him not to he just shoved them in anyway. Other subways in the area have asked what salad stuff you want with the sandwich but this one seems no room for amendments. I felt ignored when I asked for some salad which would have made it better and I asked for this a few times too and felt that I wasn't allowed to. Our waffle fries nearly got forgotten but it was worth it in the end, staff need to do better.

I have ordered from here numerous times. The food here is delicious. I have tried all the Burgers and I can say that they are made very well. I always get them to put in extra Sauce in the burgers, as I enjoy the extra flavour.
