We visited on a Sunday evening and walked into what felt like Lottie and Miles' living room! Really cosy and inviting, with an eclectic display of artworks and fairy lights hanging all around. All the staff were friendly and helpful and busily preparing for that night's gig. And we were kept amused by the two dogs, Fernando and Margo, who completed the homely throng! It's a fab place for a gig, of which they host many. The acoustics are really clear and the sound engineer really knows her stuff. Check out their program for the next couple of months. They have a great selection of real ales and beers, (of which sadly I couldn't partake because we'd driven down from Birmingham), but the low/non alcohol offering was varied so there was no trouble choosing an alternative. Food comes in the shape of burgers and pizzas. The menu may be small but it is perfectly formed! We went for the Spanish pizza which was loaded with delicious toppings on a thin crust base. The burgers looked mouth watering, but we'll have to try those next time. Do yourselves a favour and pay them a visit if you're near Stroud. You won't be disappointed!!

I am a fan of craft beer and cider and this place will not disappoint! They have a main tab room bar. Bench style Bavarian seating with some booths and an open kitchen (serving hundreds of wood fire pizzas which looked amazing) It has welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and a range of non beer drinks from those who aren’t beer lovers. What I liked is that there was a range of strengths in the beers served. On tap were a 0.5 and 2.5 beer to offer less boozy options. The beers made on site are great. The wheat beer special was a real highlight for me, on par with the European wheat beers in Germany / Belgium. The 2.5 season citrus beer was also very quaffable. What makes this place is community. There are postered everywhere for local clubs, bands, associations and events. My friend tells me they hosted Stroud Pride and I saw yoga, gigs, reading clubs all advertised. The outside area on the canal is well thought out and will be amazing in the summer and there is a balcony bar upstairs. We were welcomed by very friendly, happy and professional staff as well as a beautiful open log fire right next to our table. Food was without a doubt 10/10 and we will definitely be returning to try other options on their menu and recommending to our friends and family. We got chatting to a lady in a small shop in Painswick who recommended the Woolpack for lunch. This quaint stone pub turned out to be the most amazing find. The staff really knew their product and also produced some of it on an allotment nearby. The menu was so different and was the most interesting I have seen in years. The food and the service were superb with the staff loving the interest and the questions we were asking. Inside this little unassuming stone pub is a powerhouse of culinary diversity and excellence. We ordered - Classic Falafel in a pitta - which was six falafel balls, hummus, salads and tahini - also you get a choice of spicy sauce. And a Falafel Salad box which consisted of the same with more salad and no pitta. Falafels were perfect - right amount of outside crunch and a good soft texture inside. We felt the portion size represented good value for money, with many places now charging over £10 for similar lunch fare. Our total came to £17.70. We sat outside, though there was plenty of seats inside (upstairs). Service was quick and only a few minutes after ordering we were tucking in to tasty falafel. There was also a great range of other menu items which were reasonably priced too. If we hadn't had pata de nata from the market earlier we'd have definitely shared some Fries. It was perfectly adequate for us, and I was very reasonably priced.
