The chicken was a strange texture, certainly not fresh and some of it looked off. Veg was fresh, but there wasn’t a huge amount of flavour to the meal and quite dry. Gammon and chicken were fine, but on cutting the steak a flood of blood oozed out, not what I had ordered, this was medium rare and ok if you sleep through the day and sink your teeth into someone's neck at night, but fortunately I don't do that. We often visit the lounges for the cosy, relaxed atmosphere and wide selection of food available. Rather than coming to greet us at the sign that said "please wait here to be seated" the server shouted across from clearing a table just sit anywhere no questions of alternative menus or allergies as they normally do. We ordered using the app and the drinks were served fairly quickly although the milk stout was provided with a hi ball glass, when asked for a larger glass the server picked up the glasses walked of and retuned with 2 taller hi ball glasses slammed them on the table and walked away. When going to the bar to ask for a glass that would take the bottle as it is a stout and should be poured all together the server argued that is the right glass and it is not Guinness. The standard of the cooking of the food was far bellow par, the squid was so over cooked it was hard, burnt and some inedible. The panini was so hard and burnt that we could do nothing but remove the filling. All chicken dishes were dry as if sat for far too long. We had no check back and when the table was cleared not even a how was everything. Im pretty sure they knew it was poor hence not asking and not mentioning the uneaten food. Both male and female toilets had not been checked all day and the team on seemed like they had far better things to be doing than working. Very disappointing especially as it was the first time for my parents to visit the lounges.

We ask this to take away because the starters were more than enough. What truly elevated the evening was the service. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and happy to offer recommendations. They made us feel genuinely well-looked-after throughout our meal. While it feels like a premium dining experience, the portion sizes are generous and the prices are very fair for the outstanding quality you receive. Without a doubt, the Grand Village Imperial is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will most certainly be returning very soon

I will start off my review positively. I bought a set meal for 2 as a takeaway. I needed some tweaking on a couple of the dishes and the server accommodated this for me even though it was not the norm. A great start. When I picked up the food he was very friendly and introduced himself to me and the food smelt good. When I opened it up it also looked lovely and cooked to perfection. The prawns were delicious and the rice was great too. Sadly the chicken in the Sweet and Sour chicken Cantonese style was so dry! Chewy dry! I hoped that it would be better in the Chicken balls but again so dry! The batter was greasy too. This leads me to believe it was cooked a few hours before or the chicken was from the day before. I was so disappointed as I consider this a high end restaurant and have never had chicken from any takeaway dry like this before. I will give them another go on other dishes again as the chef did a great job with the other dishes but I will never order chicken because at these prices it was not value for money. I really wanted to give this restaurant a 5 star rating.

My wife and I were offered a booth which seats 4 which is a nice change as this is not the norm in our experience. The drinks are not cheap £13 for two pints of Thai Singha. The food was all very nice and the service was very efficient and quick even though the place was busy, it was Saturday night. My only criticism, and I have a real issue with this, as we eat out a lot and it's becoming the norm, is the service charge. In what other industry is a charge implemented without choice. I know it can be rejected and we often do, but it is just not correct in my opinion. The staff wages should be covered as is each overhead by the profit from the food and drink, if this is not the case then adjust your pricing structure. A tip is left, in my opinion, when staff go over and above to add to your enjoyable experience. The first thing that struck me was how extensive the V & VG menu was. I’ve never seen so many wonderful dishes on a Chinese takeaway menu. Normally I have to scour Chinese restaurants/takeaways to see if they’ve got any tofu on the menu, as some places can be very boring for V & VGs. This menu was amazing and I cannot wait to try lots of lovely dishes in the future. Three of us ordered, 2 meat eaters and myself. I phoned the order through quite early and was told it would be ready in 10/15mins. I was surprised by the speed, as we only just had enough time to drive and pick it up. When the food arrived it was piping hot, really fresh and very tasty. My only criticism and it’s not really a criticism, because they’re trying to improve their sustainability with new packaging, but what they’re using leaked quite badly in the bottom of the carrier bag and left quite a greasy mess. The containers were deceiving because the portions didn’t look very big, but once on the plate you realise there is plenty. This was a really lovely meal and we were very happy with the cost.

For a change we thought we'd use them this time and have some serious regret. Order was placed at 6.43pm and advised a collection roughly 15 minutes later. I arrived just after 7pm, paid and waited. Order arrived in good time, approx 35 mins order to knocking on the door which was really good. However the portion sizes were small for the price (especially the £10.50 for the mixed kebab) and were a small polystyrene which wasn't exactly rammed full. Also the donner kebab was cold throughout. Always a risk with delivered food but other outlets have been better. It does make it difficult to judge the food as it doesnt taste right. Could be bad luck but with the speed of delivery I'd have thought it would have been warm by default. The main issue was the portion size, there isn't an excuse when other places (Barberry Fish Bar) do larger sizes for less money (and warmer!). Probably won't use again.

If talking about fish and chips we always going to Golden Kitchen since they are reopened as it is the best in town ,but last two occasions was a huge disappointment. Purchased a large chicken kebab meat and chips for £8.50 which was already pricey. As soon as I got in the car it didn't smell great. The chicken was smothered in sauce yet was completely bland and tasted a few days old. The chips seemed re-fried with no taste whatsoever. Had to throw it all away. Also, they only accept cash. If you don't have cash there is a cash point across the street. This is my first time trying the Market Square Fish Bar, I ordered the Haddock & Chips, Cod & Chips and 2 x fried sausage. The food came wrapped in paper which is good because the food packaging is recyclable. The chips were a bit soggy and it was a bit obvious that the oil was used a few times before. Aside from that I did like the flavour of the fish. I would try this again and give another review.
