There is a decent size bar with a few TVs. We were getting our food to go and decided to eat it there. Glad we did. The bar tender was great and loved the atmosphere. Lots of people and great energy. The service was so attentive and friendly. My family ordered the greek salad with salmon, green chili burger, chicken salad croissant, and fish & chips. Everything was amazing! This is the second time eating here and both times have been a great experience. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted great. We ordered the lamb meatballs for an appetizer to share. Garnishes were an olive and a lime, plus dilly beans, which are not something that I'd put in Bloody Marys that I mixed myself, but I understand they're a generally accepted Bloody Mary ingredient. Our entrees: I had the omelette, which is vegetarian friendly (I'm not a vegetarian) containing red pepper, mushrooms, onion, spinach, and paired with bacon and home fries. Bacon could have been a bit more substantially cut and crispier - the place is called *Southern* Inn after all - and the home fries were adequate, but I've discovered that finding truly delicious and well seasoned home fries in a restaurant can be a challenge. My date ordered the Eggs Benedict, which I believe is traditionally served on an English muffin, but is prepared on Brioche toast here at the Southern Inn. Her dish also included country ham, which I sampled, and in my opinion could be a thicker cut and more "cured" - if that makes any sense. Country ham to me needs to be almost overly salty. Her only issue with the dish were that the eggs could have been a bit runnier, and just looking at them, I would agree. However, we recently ordered salads as we normally love to do (to-go) while taking our kids out for one of the recent summer events in town, and as I was eating (pregnant), I bit down into what was extremely hard, broken/shattered pieces of plastic. And we had just been chatting about how delicious & fresh the salad was right before this happened. It shocked me...I would never want to leave a poor review for one of our favorite local spots, hence the overall good rating still (though options in town are far too limited for higher-end meals and bars as it is); but this is something that can really cause illness or injury to a consumer so hoping they look into this issue and avoid it ever happening again. For right now, I am a bit turned off from my favorite salads and hoping to try again soon enough...but I am honest, I am going to be weary when biting now. Also to note, we would really love if at least one heavier steak or chicken dinner option was added to the menu, something more hearty for those of us who want good dinner bites to choose from, not just bar apps or salads. No one in this town has a good steak or chicken dinner option that is easy to access for the everyday. We dine with TAPS pretty often, so any expansion/update of the menu would be appreciated and so very welcome. Been here a couple years now from a large city, and the menu really has not changed at all since. We always want to support our local, small businesses well before any chains, so with more options, we will surely be a supporter of more high quality & affordable dining/drink options.

She took the time to call me back late in the evening, walk me through the options, and ensure my order could be prepared despite the short notice. After she got our drinks and we ordered, we waited at least 40 minutes for our food before the manager came up to us and appoligized since our waitress messed up the table numbers. We arrived at 11:30am, likely after the morning rush had left & we were happy to find it wasn't packed. We must have had the same waitress because no matter how friendly I was, the only returned friendliness from her came when she handed us the check. The chipped beef gravy was very salty and not very flavorful. On the plus side, it is a very quaint old school style diner. All in all, giving this place a 3 star is being generous.
