New Castle is a well preserved colonial town so worth a visit as well. The Tavern did not disappoint! Sarah, our server, was so kind and patient with us. My husband got the Federalist Ale. We learned that the owners had research done in the Library of Congress for their brews which is next level authenticity! We ate the yummy warm crab dip in a bread bowl which also comes with some celery and carrot dippers and a few sticks of toasted bread. They have local ice cream with some “colonial” flavors. By the time she came back I noticed the fries I had , had HAIR in it! I informed her as she was bringing hot fries and I guess she informed the manager because she still took awhile To even Check on us and by the time she did she let me know. The manager comes over and apologizes and said a fresh plate is being made and he was going to bring it to me personally. He was a kind man but at that point I was over the whole experience. When he brought out my plate my dad asked for a round of the endless shrimp. That ordered was placed by the manager (the actual waitress still never came back to check on us at all). Finally the waitress brings the plate but just shrimp and not the fries. The shrimp was nice and hot but it’s unlimited shrimp and fries. I just asked my dad if we can wrap it up because it was the worst experience I’ve had in a long time. I also said we should have left when nobody even came to us and the restaurant wasn’t even crowded. Needless to say I will not be back to this location . To be a waitress and knowing your tips are based off of service and to have bad customer service is interesting.
