Stopped here for a quick lunch while traveling through. The service was prompt and friendly, but we did have a 20 minute wait (probably due to this being Labor Day). The country fried steak was a good size piece of meat and fried well, but nothing the breading was nothing special. The mashed potatoes were instant and the green beans were canned (but seasoned well with ham). They had good white gravy. The cornbread was good and better than the typical restaurant. I would definitely recommend this over the fast food places around the exit. Reasonable prices as well , lunch with tip and all was under $13. The buffet didn’t appear to be open at lunch.

Growing up in Columbia, SC my family ate at Pofolks a lot, was our favorite family restaurant. Made me so sad when they closed, so when I found this one me and my hubby had to try it. The staff was super friendly, great prices , and the food was better than I remembered. Starts by off I got a small salad. You’re gonna get your run of the mill iceberg lettuce salad mix and a few toppings. The ranch dressing was homemade which is always good. Then I got the chicken fried steak with white gravy, collard greens, and pinto beans. The gravy was watery and tasted like raw flour, the greens and pintos had no seasoning, just pinto beans cooked and greens boiled. There was no seasoning meat in anything. Then I sampled the fried chicken, cabbage, and Mac n cheese. The chicken was ok. The cabbage was cut up, put in water and steamed. Just plain as day. The Mac n cheese, well that was some unsalted elbow noodles cooked and some cheese sauce mixed in. I also tried the yeast rolls, cornbread and banana pudding. The yeast rolls were the best part, the cornbread was a little dry but it’ll do. The banana pudding was vanilla pudding with condensed milk mixed in and some vanilla wafers and green bananas with whipped cream. The sweet tea was good. My meal cost me $17 and some change. I’m still not something I’d come back for.

Obviously not super fresh out of the smoker at 4pm but very tender. The green beans were the star to me, very flavorful! Two sauces were worth eating and they only available by request: the Carolina and Nashville Hot. The three out on the counter all tasted like ketchup. Another thought is that it seemed to lack good leadership. Nobody seemed to be in charge of the kitchen. That is par for the course for fast food restaurants.
