Greeted by a friendly waiter food was ordered. Poppadoms with accompanying dips were okay although salty. The meat somosas were nothing to shout about, shop brought mass produced, not home/ restaurant made and quite bland. Chicken Pathia Madras hot had nice flavours but unfortunately the chicken was tough texture and obviously been pre cooked and reheated in the sauce/ gravy. Keema naan bread with Garlic and Coriander was tasty and freshly made but again salty. Not sure if there's a underlying reason to get you to drink more? It's not the worst but I have had a lot better. Shame about the overzealous use of salt but good to see there wasn't floods of ghee on the surface of the dish. Just as a footnote, the restaurant has NOT renewed it's licence due to Covid 19 so only soft drinks are available.

Unfortunately, both visits were marred by serious issues with undercooked food. On our first visit, I ordered the chicken thigh skewers, only to find the meat raw in the middle. The dish was sent back and it took 25 minutes for a replacement to arrive. By which time my grandfather had finished his meal and we had to leave. A week later, I tried the duo of pork and again, both the pork ball and fillet were undercooked, with the ball visibly bloody. (Side note: I do enjoy rare steak but raw pork is a health hazard!) Both times, the waitressing team were fab —they were attentive, apologetic and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn’t match their standard.. Waiting another 20–25 minutes for a corrected dish, twice in a row, is unacceptable. To add to the frustration, parking can be a pain, especially at lunch time. There are very few spaces available and it’s a stressful start to the visit before you’ve even walked through the door. Pricing is also on the higher side, which would be fine if the food were consistently well-executed but given the amateur mistakes we encountered, it felt unjustified. The menu itself is creative and full of promise and the front of house team is lovely. But until the kitchen can reliably cook meat to a safe standard and the overall experience matches the price point, it’s really hard to recommend. We won't be going back there, at least for a long while.

Tucked away, behind buildings, this place is a hidden gem. An unassuming building that is much nicer inside than expected. The food was fantastic; reasonably priced, brilliant portions (I think I'm still full) and tasted amazing. My only criticism is that the mac and cheese didn't seem to have any sauce at all, but it was a side and everything else was so, so, good. The service was great, checked in on but not too much, and left to enjoy our meals. It's definitely a place to revisit.

The first time we've had food from here. How delicious it was! Really tasty and the chilli chicken was obviously chicken thigh and not breast but honestly I now prefer thigh! We sat outside in a very pleasant seating area . Lots of flowers looking in great condition. The staff were Owen josh and Michelle they were all very efficient and made our visit very enjoyable. We are proper foodies and are always the first to complain if food or service is not up to standard, however The Black Rabbit is absolutely amazing. Generally a very nice compact hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff. It is dog friendly which is fine by me, but may put some people off. Rooms were on the small size but nice and clean. No air con which again is ok with me but may put some people off. Bathroom was compact with only a standing shower cubicle. Compared to the bedroom the en suite could have done with modernising and there was mould stains in shower. Not a big thing to sort so I'm surprised it wasn't done. The staff could not do enough for us, free bottle of bubbly and offer of taxi to a restaurant as evening meals not yet available. On arrival the staff at the bar were very welcoming, warm and friendly. We asked if a table was available and we were In luck. We were given the menus and couldn't believe the choice available. A very very good selection. Our food arrived quickly and the portions were very good. There were 4 of us and each meal was extremely good value and delicious. Next we had the chicken and prosciutto salad - delicious, juicy succulent chicken breast torn into shreds, with fruity cherry tomatoes and a variety of green salad leaves, crispy prosciutto, parmesan shavings and delicious caesar dressing.. and finally finished with lemon ricotta gelato.. fruity, creamy and light, the taste of summer on a spoon.. We had tre formaggi croquettes and a mushroom Brindisi which was out of this world delicious.for main sicillian salmon, casareccia pork and garlic meatballs, beef brisket and venison stufato which was again stunning tasteful. Desert was choc melts and a raspberry collins cheescake (started eating before i could take a photo) all with a panna cotta and wild strawberry ice cream. Not a huge fan of the desert was just ok
