Freezing cold and forgot about for quite some time. The temperature of the room became unbearable for my partner and myself, to the point i had to ask to turn some sort of heating on. Once we had ordered, the “ask’s favourite starter” sharing bored, it was absolutely dowhill from there. Cold to the touch, to say the least. My partner’s main, Carbonara, was cold also cold and accompanied by congealed cheese. By the time they had taken it back for a reheat, the garlic bread and my main were too, cold! No consideration for this. Half way through the meal, we were not asked if the meal was okay, or satisfactory, we were actually asked the opposite , which was, “would you like to pay the bill” - no Thankyou, but we would like some of these glasses removed from our table, and preferably the salt and pepper shaker and the olive oil too. Then come the dessert, with the limited options they had left, which did not include some prime ‘Italian’ deserts such as Tiramisu, on a prime high service evening, like Saturday night, one of the options left was the ‘Chocolate falls’ which did not have any brownie in it, although the menu stated it did. I had fish cakes with a sauce and plentiful extra vegetables as I didn't want chips or more potato. Fish cakes were delcious- crispy on the outside and there was plenty of the yummy sauce. We arrived and was greeted promptly and shown and seated at our table straight away. The staff were the kindest and most nicest people and gave the best customer service. My son doesn’t like spicy food so we asked if they could do a meal for him that was plain and it was not a problem for them at all and it was delicious! The meat is delicious and was cooked perfectly, the paneer was very tasty and so were our veg dishes. It was a forty minute drive for us, but the food looked excellent so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. My partner had a lovely prawn cocktail and I had the soup. Our table was half an hour late with zero apology or explanation, which set the tone for what ended up being a very poor experience. I am an unabashed foodie and have experienced 5 star dining across the world and have a soft spot for more casual and straightforward fare. This place absolutely hits the spot. You don’t get white table cloths and silverware, but the fish is unmatched. The food was lovely with a shout out to the hot butter calamari and the lobster curry, both super tasty! It was a surprise dinner for my boyfriend and they were so nice and kind to put up a birthday celebration song and serve him with a beautiful brownie with a candle. We were both very impressed!
