We specified no red onions. They came to us to double check and ask if we didn't want red onions and the server slammed his towel in anger. They brought the burger full of onions anyway. Really not great, it tries to be traditional but it just feels off. Fish and chips was also horrible, felt like reheated food. While eating the starter, they were asking if they could take it away even though we were clearly still eating and had plenty left on the plate. Horrible service. They have that nice nasty attitude and the meaness is more obvious than the nice. Do not recommend.

Today, was a different story. We ordered the chicken wings , half a rotisserie chicken and the burger.. unfortunately the wings were mediocre, Luke warm and not much flavour. The actual burger was tough and rubbery, and the rotisserie chicken was the driest thing I've ever eaten. Very disappointed, feels like it's going down hill. Service was excellent and all staff are lovely, but the food really let us down today! Such a shame. Will need to consider whether we come back for food in future or try somewhere else in Lyndhurst.

Had dinner at this quaint 17th-century New Forest hostelry. The thatched roof and period features give it real character. Obviously overall pretty good, but going to opt for the 4 star overall. It is a very tucked away and cute pub, oozing with character inside and out. Staff are super friendly and accommodating and have sat in the more bar sort of area rather than the restaurant. Sort of lent a more relaxed and ambient atmosphere, especially because we were sporting a newborn. The drink selection is really solid. The Malbec was very agreeable, and Timothy Taylor is always a welcome sight! The menu is equally really solid. Loads of choice with a smattering of specials on the wall with a pizza menu. If I had to describe the food, I would certainly say it was more of a homemade feel. Not ever going to get the pulse racing, but really satisfying. My partner opted for the vegetarian pizza both visits, receiving a different sort of veggie pizza each time (first one was epic, piled up with raw crunchy veg, with the second a more disappointing damp version). I went for the gammon, egg and chips first time and sampled the burger the second time. The gammon and chips was absolutely bang on, super crispy chips and delicious gammon. The burger did sadly disappoint a bit - although the bacon and cheese was good, it was piled with iceberg lettuce and tomato which was a bit 1990s burger topping. I will however say that it is VERY rare you see trifle on a dessert menu, so credit there for sure (and yes it was absolutely lovely!). We are definitely going to return because I'm keen to sample more of the menu and the price of the menu is really reasonable. Secretly looking forward to more home made magic!

I had the garlic mushrooms as a starter (fantastic) , the wife had a prawn cocktail ( tipical sixtys ) she really enjoyed it. Main course wife had a smaller portion of fish & cips with peas, I had the larger beef lasagne it was fantastic would recomend this pub as aplace to eat which I will be doing next year at the autojumble. We are SO glad those kitchens were closed!! The New Forest Inn is a true gem, beautiful setting in lush greenery but not too far from the main road. The kitchen is open every day all day, and the selection of dishes as well as the quality were simply outstanding. My hubby had the venison pie, I had the fish & chips. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, I've had the best chips I've ever had, they literally melted in my mouth, all the veggies were exactly as we like them, still with a bit if crunch. Service was attentive, friendly and quick. There was a tiny wait for the food due to the fact that everything was made from scratch, I think even the sauce tartare was homemade! I've said to my husband that, if he ever feels like I deserve a date night where he doesn't have to come up with anything but just book a totally safe option, I'd LOVE to stay a night here! We'll be back regardless this winter, as the Christmas menu also looked very appealing.

We decided to get a takeaway on the way through in Lyndhurst. We ordered it online on the way there and went in to collect it and took it onto our accommodation which was 10 minutes away. I don't like to complain but this was the worst food looking Indian food I have ever had and tasted. We had a chicken korma and a chicken passanda. It was watery, and tasteless and the chicken was definitely not fresh. It was discoloured, brown, crusty and chewy. The sauce was tasteless liquid. We also had a peshwari naan bread that had very little coconut in it and tasteless and part of it was still doughy. The pilau rice was also tasteless. None of the food had any taste at all and it was so disappointing. The food was inedible and I hadn't eaten that day either! My husband just ate his because he was so hungry. He's not one to complain as he will eat anything but he said it was awful. We don't get away very much and could have chosen to eat anywhere in Lyndhurst. We wish we had got a pizza from the forage. The only positive thing was the poppadoms... That was tasty and fresh and ironically it was free as we didn't order it! I did email the restaurant the next day asking for them to get back to me and requesting a refund but so far have had no response. I can't believe anyone can give this place a good rating and how it has 4.5 stars out of 5. I want my money back as we spent £25 on inedible food. I was worried my husband was going to be really unwell the next day from the chicken. Do not recommend at all. Please get in touch with me to resolve this. The food was delicious, we went for the Sunday roast. The portion sizes were great and everything was spot on. The staff were lovely! Our waitress and waiter were really chatty, friendly and helpful. The choice was perfect. It was easy to book online and on arrival we were greeted swiftly and shown to our table and introduced to Dan who took care of us for the evening. The location is well appointed with plenty space between tables. There is plenty choice on the menu with various specials also available. The courses arrived promptly with adequate timing between. At no point did we feel either hurried or left behind. The food was excellent and fantastic value as well. I would thoroughly recommend and if we find ourselves back in the area we would definitely visit again.

I have to say, I'm sorry I didn't know about this hidden gem before. The restraunt is beautiful but on a sunny bank holiday we sat in the garden. Lots of places to sit and the tables are well spaced out. Very different to the packed in feeling of most pub gardens. Very relaxed feeling. There is a lovely children's play area with smaller section for tots and a bouncy castle too. I think my 6 year old would have stayed all day given the choice. The menu is varied enough to cater to most people and the addition of the Barrel and Stone pizzas is fantastic. From an allergy view point, many items are available with gluten and vegan options and the rarity of gluten and dairy free. The kids meals are of a decent size and the starter soup of the day was huge. Food tasted great and was a reasonable price especially given the location. It dog (and wellies) friendly here too which is great when coming in from a forest walk. Staff were really polite and knowledgeable and the service was great. Free WiFi throughout The place is wheelchair accessible and has decent accessible toilets too but there are some gravel areas to the outside. Unfortunately the outdoor tables wouldn't be easily accessed by a wheelchair as the benches aren't removable. We didn't have the wheelchair with us so didnt pursue further and they may have a solution Looking forward to coming back soon to try sunday lunch.

Booked Drift Inn for 2pm. We asked if the whole menu was available and we're assured it was. On arrival, the table was not ready, it was not busy, and there was only a limited Sunday menu. We gave one of the staff the birthday cake and we had balloons on the table brought in by us. The food was okay, and was able to accommodate dietary requirements. What let the lunch down was the customer service and general awareness of our needs. Once the mains were done no dessert menu or coffees were offered and the cake, well, we never bothered as there was no indication of, would you like us to bring out the cake. We even provided candles and matches. Very disappointing and we were never even asked if everything was okay. It felt like staff were just going through the motions. When the food arrived there was no sharing plate. Apparently they hadn't put it on the order, when we asked why we had still been charged approximately what we expected, they told us they had added on a service charge. It does say this on the menu but it's in text so small that you could very easily miss it in a dimly lit pub. It's worth noting that for this service charge, we had to get up and walk over to somebody to order. We had to find someone to request cutlery after the food arrived since they had forgotten and we had to get up to order drinks at the bar. The food itself was not great, it was the sort of food I'd expect from Wetherspoons, only twice as expensive and half the size. It was way too expensive for what we actually received. The biggest issue, however, was following the meal when we ordered some coffees. It's worth mentioning that there was only one other table in the restaurant at this point in the evening. Somehow, after 30 minutes of waiting, the coffees hadn't arrived so we asked to cancel them and have a refund instead. We were told that the only way to get a refund is to fill out a form, give them all sorts of details (Name, address, bank card details, etc) and they would put those details into some system later to give us a refund. They said there was no possible way to simply refund the payment to the card, like every other shop/restaurant can. Anyway, this all took place a week and a half ago and there's still been no refund. When I chased it up, I was told that it takes them 5-7 days for them to initiate the refund AND THEN 5-7 days for the bank to actually send the money back. This place used to be quite nice about 5 years ago but now it just feels like I'm being scammed. They shouldn't need me to fill out an invasive form to receive a refund for some coffees I'd paid for 30 minutes earlier. Come here if you're somebody who doesn't care if you receive your order, if you don't care if you have any cutlery to eat it with, if you don't care about the quality if it actually does arrive, and if you're not bothered about getting a refund after your order fails to show up.

We had people travelling from as far away as Bristol and Wokingham; not too far but far enough for a Sunday lunchtime. Everyone agreed that the food, drinks, ambience and service were all great. All our orders, including dairy and/or gluten free requirements, were supplied accurately. In short, it was a wonderful experience and we can’t thanks the management and staff enough.

The venue is beautiful, the bar is splendid it. Food: The starter - the sauce was over powering and salty for my taste. It took just over 40mins to get here, navigating through the village of Lyndhurst and numerous wild ponies. The hotel and surroundings are magnificent with views of the New Forest as far as the eye can see. But as impressive it all is,we are not here for that. We are here for the food of Hartnett Holder & Co. Angela Hartnett & Luke Holder are in charge of the kitchen here,serving Italian influenced dishes. As we were early we managed to get seated on the terrace in the glorious sunshine with our doggies. While admiring the surroundings a member of staff brought out a bowl of olives and nuts. We ordered a couple of zero alcohol Erdinger beers £11.(driving). Menu wise,there was a choice between the bar, a set lunch and an A la Carte. We chose from the bar menu. Risotto Milanese £16 Saffron infused, aged parmesan & butter. Spaghetti Bolognese £15 Somerset Saxon Chicken Milanese £20 Lemon,parmesan & rocket. Cornish Fish £30 Tenderstem broccoli, lemon & green leaves. Chips Skinnies £7 Although we were full,we could not leave until we tried the Tiramisu £15. Everything we had was just as expected. Simple dishes, beautifully executed and full of flavour. With lots of parmesan to add. We didn't get to see much of the inside of the house as doggies are not allowed in. Hence that's the reason we dined outside. But we did get first class service and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Thank goodness the weather was on our side.

My friend and I are huge Great British Menu fans, and we were very excited to visit. We started our visit in the bar where we had a gorgeous signature fizz, Rock Story. It was fresh and dry but still had a gentle fruit note. For entree, we shared a gorgeous heritage tomato salad that was fresh and sweet. For mains, I had an amazing veal dish, and my friend had the hake. Every mouthful was flavoursome and tantalising. We end our meal with a cheese board and espressos. One piece of advice is to give yourself a whole afternoon. Our reservation was 12:30pm and we finished up around 3:00pm. Perfection cannot be rushed. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Food is varied and pretty delicious - the whole dover sole is 10/10 as is the plum tart (somehow). Excellent drinks too! Prices on par with the quality you get, which is becoming rare. Only downside was the wait times - we had to remind them we needed to be sat at our table 20 mins after we got there and we waited nearly an hour for mains. When we pointed this out it seemed to hurry things up a bit thankfully. Management then went above and beyond with our request for a goodwill gesture, which is very very rare - we were very grateful for it but still would have preferred a more timely service (eg a wait of maybe 20-30mins for our mains at max). A table of 4. We were warmly welcomed having asked if they had a table with no reservation. While the side we were sat at was empty, it was soon full with every table taken. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and the food was incredible. We went for my birthday recently and they made it so special! If you go on your birthday, the birthday boy/girl gets a main and a side for free (must book in advance & show them an ID). The food was great - I'd suggest to try things beyond the safe options (like the classic Tikka masala) because all their options are really good. The paneer dishes are very underrated and the naan is a must! If you want to try something new and you're unsure, try the starter version because a lot of the main dishes come as starters too and it's a great way to try new things without committing too much. A nice selection of cakes available in the cabinet. Lyndhurst is served by a large main car park just down the road, in easy walking reach of this Tea House.

We’ve been coming to the Tea House for over 10 years. Today was our last visit. On arrival the manager brushed a few crumbs off our table. Didn’t wipe it properly. But did clean the vacant table next to us. We ordered & half the hot food came with a 10 minute wait for the rest. Every piece of crockery was chipped. We asked for water 3 times and they eventually brought out two glasses to share between 4 of us. The table next to us had to ask 4 times for cutlery whilst they were sat looking at their hot food getting cold. The floor was filthy as were the toilets. It felt so unloved compared with how it used to be, like the owner and staff don’t care. Plenty of other cafes in Lyndhurst to try next time.

Have never experienced rude staff at this Prezzo, they are usually great but it ruined our anniversary meal out. We booked a table very last minute and received a warm welcome as they were opening up. As we hadn't been to a Renoufs before, the waiter explained the menu to us and gave some recommendations based on our likes/dislikes. We chose the ultimate sharing board for 2 people and a flight of red wine each. We can honestly say that everything was perfection with the food/wine. Took about half an hour to get drinks and an hour to finally get our meal. We were shoehorned into the middle bar stool window table where I was sharing space with a pillar and my daughter was sat inbetween the two people behind to fit in whilst my husband was off the end of the table, we had to keep passing him food as he couldn't reach. There were 14 people sat on three tables our side and just 4 people sat on two tables on the other window. Food came out and we were given no explanation of which cheeses and meats were which even though we asked. Apparently the waitress was new and hadn't a clue. Where was the supervision? My husband had to ask three times for his drink and we definitely didn't get asked if we wanted any more drinks and if everything was okay. Room is too small for the number of tables/guests in there and place was way too hot and very noisy. Not a pleasant atmosphere to be in. I waited outside in the rain whilst my husband chased down the bill at the end. We escaped to the pub across the road along with many of the other diners in there. Concept is great but logistics need improvement.

I’d booked ahead as I’d wanted to make sure we were OK to take our dog with us, and on arrival to the restaurant had been reserved a lovely table by the window with plenty of space for him. They even asked if he’d like some water, which was a nice touch. The menu has plenty of choice, at very reasonable prices for the portion size and quality of ingredients used. Everything we ordered was delicious, and after three courses, a bottle of the house red (a very pleasant Italian Nero D’Avola), and a couple of Limoncello aperitifs, we left feeling full, very happy and content. There was a mistake in the kitchen with my pizza order, but it was swiftly handled without any fuss, and a replacement in front of me within just 4 minutes. Bravo! We’d very happily eat here again next time we’re in the area. Would definitely recommend booking ahead though - we went on a Tuesday evening (admittedly in the peak summer season) and every table was occupied at 7.30pm - popular little place, and understandably so!

Hotel and facilities were all very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Esp Deborah who was always so cheerful on reception. We enjoyed our stay in the New Forest-good to have things on the doorstep from the hotel as well. The swimming pool was a lovely extra to have. Breakfast was a great choice and service provided by the lovely host was excellent. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Just a suggestion to make the swimming pool adult only swimming between 7am-9am and then 7pm-10pm. Lovely if the sauna was open and working as well. The room perhaps just needs a little freshen up. Shower pressure needed more power. Refills for shampoo/shower gel could be refills rather than disposables. All we can say is if the offer was at full price we would have left and asked for a refund. We were given a grim room. The lightshades were broken, the carpet was dirty and worn and had no underlay - it was like walking directly on a concrete floor. The toilet seat was askew, toilet roll holder kept tipping and the vinyl bathroom floor was lifting and badly rumpled. The toilet required 2 flushes at least, as it the flush was so ineffectual. There was black mould around the bath tiles and dirt around the bath tap fitment. The bedroom was very dated with damaged furniture. The doors had to be slammed shut which was a nightmare at night. The tea and coffee facility was basic, 4 breakfast teabags and 4 Earl Grey, and 8 Nescafe sachets. Ok, you may think but, you have to go and ask reception for anything more or replacements as they do not service the room while you are there. We ended up with rubbish, teabags, sour milk jugs accumulating. We were so disappointed that we were given such a basic room when the offer suggests a twice the price room!! The hotel wasn't remotely full so why lose a repeat booking over penny pinching and allocating a room which was genuinely substandard. We understand cost cutting but there were no extras like shower caps, dressing gown, and things to make your stay comfortable. A single standard pump bottle for all your soap requirements, shower, shave, hair wash, and conditioner. Our meal was served in the bar. Simple choice. However, very poor value however, if we had been paying separately. On the plus side. The bed was large and quite comfortable, although a tiny room. The towels were white and good quality. The very few staff were super. Professional polite and friendly. Kelly, the breakfast room supervisor (?) on both our days, was exemplary. The breakfasts were excellent and served in a lovely bright dining room. The pool was adequate and usually available, except when being used by local schools/ baby clubs. Location was good to access Lyndhurst town and for direct walking into the New Forest. The point of an offer is NOT to give sub standard provision or facilities because you have an offer. The point of an offer is you should receive the exact same as if the offer was not on!

The location is excellent and the pool is a nice feature, but we didn’t feel the hotel was particularly child-friendly, which was surprising given its recommendation for Paultons Park visitors. The home made Yorkshires certainly finished it off. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful and spoiled our dog through out the duration of our stay. The food was excellent, everthing we had was well cooked and clearly effort was made to raise the quality of each dish above average. Affordable wine and well kept beer. Our room was comfy and spacious. Parking was a bit tight, but we got a space each evening, so no complaints. On the Friday night we were treated to a live singer/guitarist who was great. The hotel/pub/restaurant is also surrounded by independent coffee shops, other pubs, restaurants, a Ferrari dealer ! and an excellent local butcher, so lots of options.

We decided not to order food and just finish the drinks to which I didn’t even proceed to finish the coffee only having had 2 sips. We got up and said we wanted to just pay for the orange juice as didn’t have the flat white. He said he could do us another but by this time we just wanted to leave. He then proceeded to charge us £7 despite saying we only wanted to pay for the orange juice. Ended up going 2 doors down to Peggy Mays, who were more than accommodating and the food was lovely. Everyone enjoyed their meals, not just the traditional roasts but a range of other fare too. The place was unfortunately dead. Am glad we weren't eating in! The food was good. The crispy lettuce start (sorry used to be the crispy lettuce starter) was good but bring back the lettuce!! Duck for pancakes, lamb for lettuce!! All in all, the food was good. I do struggle to justify Restaurant prices for a takeaway but living where we do, it's our closest and I appreciate they are operating out of a restaurant so there are additional overheads. Hopefully the next review will see a better hygiene rating and a busier restaurant.

Menu is in Chinese and English, a great result and immediately filled my wife with confidence as to the food we might expect. She was not let down. We went for a relatively light takeaway lunch, she went for the Plain Chow Mien and I went for a Yung Chow Fried Rice. The chow mien had thin noodles but was tasty and met her expectations. The fried rice was fantastic and one of the best fried rice I've had in the uk. Definitely recommend this place. On arrival, the hotel blew us away. Car park entrance was easy to find and is obviously old. Car park is split on 2 levels and can fill up quickly. The front entrance into the reception area is beautiful with a library to one side. Booking in was quick, polite, and friendly. The bedroom was clean and functional although a little small ( but then it is called the snug) clean bath/shower with complimentary soaps/shampoo, etc, and a soft bed. The decor is tastefully done and keeps with the age and character of the building and is in good clean repair. After an afternoon in Lyndhurst (which is only a short walk from the hotel although there are some steep steps to navigate) we took advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktail deal in the bar which again were served by friendly and polite staff. We decided to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and on first impression was a warm welcoming area. We were seated swiftly, and it's from then on the night became problematic. Seated quickly, check. menu given, check. water offered, check. water delivered and order taken quick and efficiently, check and then.....forgot about. Bottle of wine ordered and eventually arrived halfway through my starters. The service was ok during our sitting but nothing special I feel for the price. My main meal was overcooked and was mentioned as our plates were collected by the manager who made no comment as he walked away examining the meat left on the plate. Towards the end of the evening, the room lighting can be a problem to read the menu (a couple resorted to using their phone light to be able to read it). On the whole, the restaurant experience was a letdown and over priced. I’ve eaten at millions of Thai restaurants in the U.K., US and Australia. We ordered the squid entree, Penang curry and Pad Kee Mao. The Penang curry was to die for, a 9/10 I’d say. The Pad Kee Mao was very nice but a bit oily and the vegetables were a bit undercooked - so a 7/10. Squid a 7 out of 10. Overall I’m pretty sure this is the best Thai restaurant in the Southampton area. My only complaint is that the serving sizes are very small, not fit for a hungry man. Staff are kind. Wow. We were very pleased. The service was friendly and fast despite being really busy. The atmosphere was cozy and calming. Every dish was great- even the prawn crackers were nice, coming with a little spicy dip. Duck wrap starters: delicious, full of duck flavour, crispy and surprisingly big. Pineapple fried rice was out of this world scrumptious! Red prawn curry was the right level of spiciness and great flavour. I booked our 3 course meal and wine using £90 of Buyagift vouchers, which seemed a reasonable deal. I reserved our table 10 days ahead of time. When we turned up, we were disappointed by the ambience which was more school canteen rather than cozy restaurant. It's a small authentic restaurant inside the complex just off the street, and the staff were all very friendly. The homemade Thai sausages were fantastic, as was the Tom Yum. This time the food was so much better, wish there would bring mac n cheese back tho and it would be nice to get a bit more meat with your carvery. I was served by a gentleman who was very pleasant and had great service, the carver didnt look to happy but I put that down to the heat behind the meat. Also on fridays kids eat for £1 but only with every adult meal, personally I don't think it should be with an adult meal as this evening I had my 2 boys and only me as an adult but thats just my opinion.
