Eating in the courtyard of a medieval palazzo is always gonna be a fun experience but this one was uniquely beautiful and cozy. Great music selection too. The rabbit was delicious. The Gbejna was some of the best I had in Malta. 11/10 if you're gonna eat in Rabat you have to go here. The surrounding environs were really pretty too.

We spent some time looking at the various menus in the area and Castelletti’s felt more appealing. And whilst it was cheaper than neighbouring restaurants, the quality was excellent. We’d seen that other venues charged extra for fries, which would mean they would have been around €3 a €5 more expensive per meal (we based this on a typical chicken burger) The chicken burger was a fresh, juicy, breast which was seasoned with a bbq glaze and perfectly cooked. Served on a delicious fresh and griddle toasted brioche. The fries were cooked fresh too (no reheated or re-dunked in oil like lots of venues do) so they were fresh and fluffy and seasoned well. The venue itself was immaculately clean throughout. The decoration was gorgeous too, it had a very high end feel. One thing to mention was the stack of dirty glasses waiting to be washed on the end of the bar. I would also mention, in the gents toilets, the light in the cubicle was very dim and needs replacing, but the toilet was clean and well stocked with paper, soap and towels.

Look in my photos I can’t believe you can buy anything for €0.60 we brought two pasitizzi and one ricotta pie a toasty ham and cheese and a milky coffee for just under €5. The food here is undeniably delectable and great value also. I went for the Timpani but if I had more space I would have eaten a lot more! With drinks, I ordered a melon cocktail, while partner ordered a mango spicy margarita. The price was the dishes as euro is expensive but reasonable in GBP. Though I don't know if they even serve tap water here, as it seems you need to order cocktails or wine. Before your meal, you are served a appetitzer bread+condiments, which is nice. And the main meals are served with either chips or garlic and onions potatoes. Bother actually tasted good. I just wonder how many grilled octopus are served as a starter, because as a main, you get 3 in quality. We stumbled across Roman's Den when out exploring Rabat. When we googled the reviews and saw the delicious menu we decided we could not miss having dinner here. We arrived just after they opened at 7 so it was quiet (only 3 other couples) and were met by the lovely Lynn who was our host for the evening. She was absolutely brilliant and super helpful exactly what you need in a host. We had some garlic bread brought before our mains which was INCREDIBLE! I had the Rib Eye steak and my partner had Roman's Den steak special both of which were exceptional. We then had a visit from the chef himself, Daniel! What a character! He quiet obviously takes major pride in his craft. He was also full of smiles and offered us some freshly made profiteroles as the bill arrived. I've also read some of the negative reviews and couldn't disagree more. The atmosphere was wonderful and cozy with mood lighting, definitely not dark and cramped like other reviews I've read. My partner and I had already decided to return to Roman's Den before we had paid the bill. Very much looking forward to our next visit before the end of our trip.

And some of the tastiest, I've ever tried. The restaurant, a small, rustic place run by people who have been there most of their lives. Honestly, don't go there if you are looking for fancy service or déco, go there if you want typical Maltese food. The service was very friendly full of smiles. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Maltese food.
