Absolutely wonderful evening here this evening. My husband and I chose to come here to celebrate our anniversary. We chose this after researching restaurants on the island and it was highly recommended. It was such a cute and quaint place to enjoy an evening out. We always end up coming back to the Fisherman’s Cottage — the food is consistently great, and the location couldn’t be better.
This time we had a huge portion of mussels with ciabatta, some whitebait, and a proper fisherman’s pie — all really tasty and well prepared.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is ideal when the weather’s nice. Inside, it has a cosy, old-school feel that really fits the seaside setting.
You’re basically eating right on the beach — can’t beat it.

I wanted to like this pub so much, it's in a beautiful location, and in a lovely old building. The cost of the food is amazingly reasonable, but sadly we were let down by the quality of the meals. The chicken was dry, the vegetables both sparce and un edible. The carrots hard under cooked and the peas, they were rock hard. The lasagne was over cooked. On a plus side, the service was good, as was the staff. Such a pity. Maybe we caught the kitchen on a bad day?

Daily menus and specials sounded appetising. Tables, menus & cutlery all clean too. We will definitely return! When the weather starts getting chilly and the rain is pouring, there’s nothing quite like finding a cozy pub to escape to, and this place did not disappoint. I stopped in looking for some comfort food, and the menu here is pretty solid for a Green King pub. Everything I tried was delicious and hit the spot just right.
But what really made my visit memorable was the staff. They were fantastic! One of them even went out of their way to make a long straw just to see if I could drink tartar sauce through it, all because I joked about stealing my girlfriend's sauce! That playful attitude really brightened my day.
I’m already looking forward to my next visit to the Isle of Wight, and I’ll definitely be stopping by this pub again. It’s a perfect spot to warm up and enjoy some good food with even better service. Highly recommend it!

This has always been a favourite place of ours to eat Sunday lunch. We come 4/5 time a year. Previously we had always had a great experience. We had a couple of less than great meals and I reviewed based on that. The pub contacted me explaining they had a new chef and asked if we'd come back. So we did and I'm pleased to say the meal was fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous roast dinners for 6. We tried all the options and found it to be delicious. The meat was cooked very well, turkey especially was moist. The veg were excellent with great use of herbs. Meal was one of best roasts we have had and I'm delighted to review again with updated details. Cannot fault them for listening and acting on a previous review. Cant wait to return. The Yorkshire puddings are worth the visit alone! Well done! Recommended for all ages groups and demographics. Do make sure you book as we had a bit of a wait even though we reserved.

We visited The Steamer Inn on a Wednesday evening in October. Although we got there at 7.15pm, the place looked nearly full but we were still able to find a table for all of us.
We were a party of 7. Ranging in age from 18 months to 84 years.
The service was excellent and good humoured. It was a delight to bond with someone over eating a bowl of peas as a meal!
The food was reasonably priced, delicious and huge portions. With a good selection of main courses in the menu and on the board, mostly under £20. Even though the portions were so large, there was very little food left on our plates, our smallest family member loved his kids meal as well.
Desserts were a tempting choice of ice-cream sundaes with some warm options which had mostly sold out by the time we came to order. I assume the warm weather made them uncharacteristically busy for the time of year. Luckily the ice-creams were delicious.
All of us enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, the nautical decor, and the friendly service. We all said we'd love to go there again. 100% recommended 🌟

This is a review for food only as we didn't stay here. However, the food was so good, we ate here two nights in a row. I had the best fish and chips I've had in ages. The fish was light and really fresh and the batter was super crisp. On the second visit I had the fish pie which was also delicious. My husband had the fish and chips two nights in a row and said they were just as good the second night. I made a mistake on the order on the first night and the waitress sorted it out really quickly. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

We visited the restaurant out of season. It has a genuine local friendly feel. We didn't need to book and didn't need to wait for a table. Unfortunately they were out of the chowder so I had the Thai curry which was creamy and with plenty of seafood. My wife had the fish pie which was the best she has ever had. Service was great, very friendly and quick. Food was terrific, we both had the garlic butter chicken breast - not the biggest piece of chicken but still substantial meal by the time you add the fries and peas. Very tasty and soft juicy chicken, great fries.
Only reason it gets a 4 is the fairly bland atmosphere. Definitely recommend the food though!

Went there tonight for a midweek treat meal. It was very busy at first and we had a small table around the corner. A little later on we were asked if we wanted to move tables as there was more room for us. This was very good customer service.
We decided to order food from the specials board, which was Oktoberfest themed. The German ploughman’s we had was just sublime. A proper German feast of sauerkraut, bratwurst sausage, ham, smoked cheese, pickles, curried ketchup and a salad with a warm pretzel and wholewheat baguette. All of the dish complimented itself and was very, very tasty.

I visited here on the recommendation of a friend and I wasn't disappointed.
The staff were very friendly, chatty and the service was quick. The location is beautiful, right next to the sea.
The food was plentiful and came out hot, I ordered the Scampi and it was delicious, different to what I've eaten before. We stayed for a while just looking out to sea and enjoying the view.

We didn’t stay here but came for the restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly, even getting us a takeaway box when we couldn’t finish all our food. The pizza was great and they accommodated our topping changes well. The bbq wings weren’t for our taste but were still nice. We ate at The Waterfront Inn during our stay on the Isle of Wight and enjoyed it so much we went back the very next evening!
We tried the fried fish platter, calamari, paella, Cajun creamy pasta, and king prawn and chorizo linguine—everything was delicious with generous portions. We shared a lovely cheesecake for dessert and enjoyed some great cocktails too.
Both times we sat outside with beautiful sea views. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was a little slower on our second visit, but nothing major.
A fantastic spot with tasty food, reasonable prices, and stunning views—highly recommend!

Great location, but unfortunately would not recommend at all for food. As mentioned in another review, service non existent. At best slow, waiter threw our sides all over the table and didn't care. Came here for a drink and enjoy the view. Found only table free outside that had a few dirty dishes on, as we got to it an older man had gone to clean it (his picture is on another review). When asked if we were waiting to sit there he rolled his eyes and flung his arms down. What's the difference between us just arriving and wanting sit there when he was going to clean it himself anyway which needed to be done....
Both me and my partner commented how rude he was and no need for the attitude.
When the table was cleaned he bought menus ect back out to us said be with us in a few minutes to take our order.
15 minutes later we were still waiting.
Chose to go to bar next door "steamer inn" and got served straight the way with no attitude and enjoyed the view.
Was made to feel very unwelcome, do not recommend this venue at all. If your not a people person then don't work in hospitality.

Wow! What a gem of a place! Me & my partner were here last night for our 10 year anniversary meal. Staff - Outstanding service, from the minute we walked through the door, we were greeted with warmth. The staff carried on with fantastic service throughout our whole visit. Accommodating, polite, friendly & fun! I had the happy hour delicious mojitos with the Chilli Chicken - Quantity and Quality in1! Plate was filled with a fresh, delicious combo salad, topped with 2 x large fillets of scrumptious chilli chicken & plenty of chips too. My partner had the Gorgeous fresh Sea Bass - again, Great quantity & quality with plenty salad & chips. For this price, which is so reasonable & maybe could charge more ! I would pay more for sure. Compliments to the friendly chef too! On holiday here with my family. Lovely location for this place but thats as good as it gets. We had our tea here during our stay and I have to say the food was awful. Our children had pasta and it was stone cold when it came out. Myself and my husband had dishes including fish and they were horrendous as well as cold. We were driving back to our hotel, and fancied a late lunch. We didn't know very much about the pub and were absolutely stunned at how good it was.
It has a decent sized car park, all on the flat, making it suitable for those with mobility issues.
A lot of people were outside on the many tables, enjoying the sunshine; but we had been outside all day and wanted a cooler position inside.
The staff were very friendly and helpful; and I loved the call bells positioned on the tables, which really does seem to make it easier to serve customers.
The menu is really good and there were numerous specials to select from. In the end, I chose the Ploughman's Lunch with the option to have ham, Stilton and Cheddar. The platter was seriously loaded up, with pickles, salad, fruit to add to the ham and cheese. Check the picture; it really was a substantial meal. From what I could see, other meals were easily as great a value.
There was an impressive range of drinks, and I'm sure that everyone could find something to their liking.
I have to say, it's a pity that the pub is not a bit closer to where I live; I would be going there on a very regular basis. If you are passing by there, please drop by; you will not regret it.

No trip to the island, is complete with out stopping here at least once. Over the years we have been coming here, when the owner or other long term members of staff are working. They always come and say hello, ask us about our trip. Even the new faces to us are very polite. Had a lovely meal in the Griffin pub in Godshill. Delicious food, we had the fish and chips but chose skinny fries and sweet potato fries which was a nice change and the fish was lovely. I can honestly say without a doubt this place is perfect and I cannot find fault.
We came in from the reviews alone and they weren't wrong. We all had the trio roast, it was amazing. Not a foot out of line. Then the wild card, unlimited extra roast potatoes, Yorkshire's and gravy. Local beverages on top. The staff are all friendly and top notch. It has a well presented décor, the toilets were fresh and refurbished.
Can't wait to come to The Isle of White and come back to the griffin.

Staff were lovely, young lad who served our food was very polite.
We had sandwiches that were amazing, lots of filling and plates were full . Delicious. We also had the cream tea, the scone was out of this world. Yummy!
The reason for 4* was only due to no dogs allowed inside. I respect that but I like to sit indoors to eat.
I thought maybe in future the back end of the restaurant maybe could allow dogs as it’s away from the main area ..

It looked like a nice place for lunch and yes it was. The garden was lovely to sit in. Loads of tables and umbrellas to keep the sun off. Lots of cosy seating under the trees. The only criticism is the garden is on a slight slope but im just splitting hairs. Staff were friendly and I would recommend going inside to look at the drinks available on draught. We ordered jacket potato with cheese and beans and a bacon and cheese baguette. A pint of moretti and a j2o. £30.80 all in. The food arrived within 10 minutes and tasted lovely. There was seating indoors if the weather turns nasty but its a lovely tea room. It got busy as we ate and looks very popular.

Absolutely delicious. We love this beautiful restaurant/tearoom, the garden is set with little secret places to sit and is so charming. Finally after visiting previously we decided to order their Shanklin pie. Oh its good, so meaty. The prawn salad is incredible and the Isle of Wight scone so fresh. I think their sticky toffee pudding is possibly the best I've tasted. The owner is delightful and staff so friendly. 10/10

Visited here twice while on holiday here once Saturday and once tonight. I would like to give it ten stars. Very busy each visit, the two young ladies serving were working extremely hard, were very polite and friendly. Short wait for food but that's because it's freshly cooked which is far better than serving food that's been kept warm. First visit I had fish cake that was very tasty, well cooked, hot and nice and crispy. Tonight we had the seniors regular cod a chips. Excellent value, served lovely and hot. The fish was tasty and moist, batter lovely and crispy and really nice chips. Really good place and well worth a visit. We will definitely return next time we are on the island.

Popped in as my daughter was taking part in Shanklin Carnival.
Was super busy, as to be expected on a carnival eve. I just want to say how amazing I thought the staff all were! They worked fast and efficiently, but also looked as though they were all having fun! It's rare to see young staff being so engaging and confident, and this team are smashing it, while delivering excellent service...made my day! I was also lucky enough to get the window seat to watch the carnival, while eating a delicious dinner in the fun atmosphere. Great portion size and very tasty! Love the Irish curry sauce that staff recommended too!

We ran a little “survey” (me and the kids asking locals where the real best seaside chips were). Most told us to skip the tourist “top three” and head for Old Shanklin Village instead – about a 15-minute walk along the seafront.
That walk was more than worth it. Shanklin Village is absolutely stunning, with its thatched cottages, cosy pubs, and picture-perfect charm. And right there, next to a traditional Isle of Wight sweet shop and fudge shop, sits The Happy Haddock.
The chips are cooked in beef dripping – golden, crispy, never soggy – and you can even have them served in a cone. The fish and chicken are cooked fresh to order, and while we were waiting, at least ten people came in, were served, and left again – a clear sign of how popular this place is. Portion sizes are generous, batter is light, and they even offer two types of curry sauce (traditional and Irish). We tried both (for “research purposes”) and they were spot on.
Absolutely beautiful food in a stunning setting. A proper local gem that combines great flavour with real charm. If you’re in Shanklin, this is a must-visit.

We decided to visit this fish and chip shop on for a takeaway. On our way through Old Shanklin. It nearing closing time, they fried the fish fresh with the chips and we also had pie's. Everything was very tasty, but on top of that, the service was excellent. The young lady that served my wife. Having given us additional boxes to eat out of, condiments, tarta sauces, tomatoe ketchup sauces, disposable knifes and forks and serviettes. Nothing was to much trouble. Visited twice whilst holidaying in Shanklin, both times we had to wait for about 25 minutes for the food after ordering at the counter, the first visit was for a fish cake and chips and the second visit was just for 2 bags of chips, hardly things that should be cooked to order in a busy fish and chip shop. Whilst we were waiting I don't recall seeing a single customer place their order and be given it straight away, it looked like everyone has to place their order and then wait for ages until they decide to bag up the food, I have never seen service like this before in any other chip shops, if this was in my home town it would soon be out of business.

There is seating outside as well, on the February night we visited, it was too cold, but it must be lovely on a warm evening. Absolutely top notch, proper homemade Italian food at Pavarotti’s in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
Firstly, despite being fully booked this evening, the wonderful lady hosting squeezed us in as early diners. I definitely recommend booking in advance if you can as we were lucky to be seated. It was already quite busy inside even though they’d only be open for 10 minutes.
The menu is full of delicious Italian meals we’ve come to know and love - I could have chosen pretty much anything and would have been happy! In the end, I ordered the tagliatelle ragu, husband had the prosciutto calzone and kiddo ordered the pepperoni pizza and we had garlic flatbread to share. The lovely staff were very attentive and served us quickly (we were starving).
All our food was absolutely delicious. My ragu was properly authentic with a soffrito base and fresh pasta. I tried to eat slowly, but my appetite wasn’t having any of it and I polished the plate clean within a few minutes. When we saw the dessert menu I had to have the tiramisu and the boys shared profiteroles. Just all gorgeous. What a treat to find this place! If you want authentic, family friendly Italian food on the Isle of Wight, then Pavarotti’s is for you.

Wanted dinner on Sunday, but a lot of places close early in Sandown. Found Caulkheads on Google as reviews were good & gave them a call to ask if there was availability & there was, so table booked for 6pm, but carvery finishes at 6pm we were advised. No problem, we were on holiday & it didn't matter to us.
Lovely staff for finding us availability at short notice. Food is really nice & there is a varied choice on the menu as well as the option of a smaller portion or a normal portion on most things you order. Order is taken at the bar along with your drinks order.
Plenty of things to entertain the kids & there is a ball play area as well as an outside seating area. In all we came here three times during our stay & never disappointed with anything at all.
Lively place & popular with locals as well as tourists, can highly recommend.

I came here with my family for our wedding anniversary a couple of days ago. The food was really tasty so we were really pleased. Unfortunately the atmosphere wasn't great as there was a large group of kids with their families being quite loud and disruptive, and one was riding around indoors on his scooter.. If you are looking for a fab breakfast, served by a friendly team of staff this is the place to go. The guy who runs this place always has a smile on his face and is really nice.
We had the bacon bap and a coffee, then went back the next day for the full English breakfast which was lovely and great value.
The cakes (which are made by his wife) look amazing. Unfortunately, we didn’t try any as we’re too full from breakfast! 🤣

My family and I visited this amazing cafe twice when we were on the island a fortnight ago. We went for breakfast on the first day that we arrived. Not only was the food super good, the views were incredible too.
We also went the day before we were due to leave and it did not dissapoint. The owner actually recognised us from our first visit and made us very welcome. Again the food was stunning and this time we got to sample the carrot cake which was out of this world. Haven't ever had a carrot cake like it and I have eaten plenty. Only wished we lived closer so that we could frequent this fine establishment more often. All the staff were lovely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Quick heads up, we were told by the lovely owner that if you message them with a request for a particular cake a few weeks before you are due to visit they will do their best to make it for you......how amazing is that 😀

A hidden gem of a place. We stopped by because we just wanted a hot drink and a bite to eat knowing nothing about the place. Well, we will definitely be back when we are next in Shanklin. It is what cafes used to be like. Simple food cooked fast and fresh and very good value for money. The service was excellent. We’re from London and came to explore the Isle of Wight — found this lovely cafe and we’re so glad we did!
We had 2 hot chocolates, a mocha, and the chicken special with peri peri. The drink sizes were surprisingly amazing for the price, and the latte art was absolutely adorable. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, the staff were very friendly. Nicola was our server, she was amazing. The starters arrived quickly and this was the beginning of what can only be described as a journey, a journey that you didn’t want to end.
The food was amazing, I had the black pepper squid and my partner had BBQ wings starter. Followed by the hunters chicken, fish and chips, finished off by a chocolate brownie and apple & pear crumble.
A feast for the eyes and the mouth, if you haven’t been here then you’ve got to go.

Came here around 1.30pm and it was totally dead which was surprising considering how busy the villiage was, now I see why.
We ordered a simple panini, chicken fajitas and cheesy chips.
After 45 minutes of waiting (remember the place is empty) the waitress finally comes out to announce there has been electrical issues in the kitchen, another 10 minutes or so we were served with probably one of the most disgusting meals I've been presented since living on the island.
The panini was stale and horrid, the chips look like they had just been left in the cooker during the 'issues'
The fajitas were ok or at least the chicken was, the bread part was more like a hard taco shell.
For £50 this was absolutely less than impressive and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone

Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this pub for food. There was only one server for everything on a Saturday (orders, drinks, running the food, and clearing up) and the food was poor quality. I ordered the ‘sausage, mash, peas and caramelised gravy’ - it was the cheapest possible sausages with zero taste and Bisto gravy at best. No one came to check on our meals. It felt like they were just cutting costs. There are plenty of high quality Island pubs where I would rather spend my money!

First of all , what a fab tea rooms , the best I have seen on the island so far including pubs as well.
This little tea rooms has great parking just up the road from the public car park and is situated next to a Christmas shop and next to the Shaklin Chine waterfalls entrance.
I and my family were greeted by one of the owners Pat , such a friendly and welcoming greeting , we had a pushchair and due to the nature of the old building it’s not possible at the minute to have a disabled access , but it was only a few steps down and easy with a pushchair .
We decided to eat in the wonderful fairy garden that was packet with fairy’s and little cottages.
We were seated comfortable with space for the pushchair and the dog .
Our menus were brought out quickly and the ladies serving were great with all our children especially our 2 year old son who she was so sweet to.
A great selection of afternoon teas, kids menu , jacket potato’s , sandwiches , pancake stacks, toasted tea cakes , coffees , ploughman’s , soup , cakes and Quiches .
All looked delicious and almost everything is hand made.
We choose prawn salad , I had a jacket with cheese and beans and was please it came hot ( a lot places I eat it is luke warm). Tina mayo sandwiches , cappuccino and j had a massive frothy milkshake with cream and fairy sprinkles .
The atmosphere in the garden is magical and we felt well looked after, the food came quickly and was delicious , I took our 2 year old son around the garden and found some trees with memorial hearts on them with messages of missing lives ones that had passed .
I checked with one of the owners about whether I could do a memorial myself as it was our sons anniversary of this and she said we could and it was £4 donation to a children’s charity in memorial of a little girls who had died from cancer , I thought was fitting and she reassured me that the memorials would always be there even if the weather damaged them they would fix them and put them back up , this was so nice of her .
This place has such a nice feeling and the staff are so friendly , child and dog friendly , I would defiantly recommend booking here , it was so friendly and love owners who love there work and do over and beyond to make sure you have a great meal/ afternoon tea.

Amazing cream tea with the most delicious buttery scones. Service was amazing, everyone was so lovely and kind and they had the cutest little chihuahua. The staff were very accommodating as we arrived only 10 minutes before close but they were very friendly and let us stay half an hour after close so we had enough time to eat and look around at the stunning interiors, including a beautiful wall of paper butterflies to show how much money they had raised for charity. They also had a lovely fairy garden with amazing fairy statues and fountain. Overall 11/10 experience I wish I could give it more than 5 stars because it really deserves it.

The restaurant is packed during lunch. Unfortunately we didn't make a booking so we ended up just having some scones, cheese board and ice cream after lunch time. The lunch menu looks really nice though!

A lovely stop! The shop is nicely kept – clean, well presented, and everything is laid out in a way that’s really appealing. There’s a great range of garlic-themed goodies, perfect for gifts or personal treats.
I also bought a bottle of Cold Garlic Beer to try – an interesting one! To me, it tasted a bit like a watery Guinness. Not really to my taste, but I can see how some people might enjoy it for the novelty.

Came here after finding this place on Google and oh my it didn't disappoint. There is soo much to do here with the family and has a wide variety of products that are just soo tasty. We also went for breakfast here and it was lovely, wonderfully presented and came rather fast after we ordered, and was served with their own 2 kinds of ketchup (the black garlic ketchup was amazing but the garlic ketchup was too vinegary in my opinion) it was a good breakfast however my criticism of this is that it would be better with chargrilled bacon rather than having hot held bacon (could definitely tell it was hot held bacon as it was starting to turn a bit leathery) also maybe having the addition of a hash brown or black/white pudding. The servers were lovely and helpful people and the coffees that we got were amazing quality. If your in the IOW then definitely take a detour here as it will be worth your time.

I read all the reviews before visiting and it was a pleasure! The restaurant was fantastic! We pre booked and had the nicest garlicky lunch! Too bad for people who don't like garlic! The shop was lovely with so many garlic products. We bought different varieties of garlic and vampire slayer sauce which is v hot and garlicky. The farm walk wasn't good enough, it would be better to take a guided tour as v could not appreciate much walking by ourselves. We did not see any crops as well. Wonderful! Gorgeous setting, fabulous food, and so much delicious garlic. We stayed at the Garlic Farm for a short escape to the island in September. The cottage was perfect. Lovingly decorated and perfect for a family of 4.
A big highlight of the weekend was the Farm Tour. Our tour guide (and one of the farm owners) Colin is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. He clearly deeply cares for the farm and for the farm guests. Colin took so much time and patiently answered all our questions.

We booked well in advance, believing it would be truly busy. Clocks having gone forward, lighter evenings, and it's Shanklin Town Centre location, making it an easy find for locals and visitors alike.
For a restaurant, full the last time we visited, we were shocked to find we were the only booked table on a Thursday evening. Rather than cancelling us and remaining closed, saving on all their staffing costs and utilities they opened to provide for us and we weren't disappointed.

Loved it here. Great, polite and quick service with great food. The dough itself was some of the best I’ve ever had as it was a perfect mix of hints of salt and garlic. Food came in around 25 minutes on a Tuesday and we got to pick our own table.

Can’t fault the food. It was presented very nicely and tasted great. It was a fair while waiting for the main but it was well worth it. I would rather wait for great food that’s freshly cooked than be served average food quickly. The table service was very good and friendly. We found out at the end of the evening that the young lady who served us was her first night. She did an excellent job. We were a party of four on holiday and dined on a Thursday evening. IF you fancy Italian then I would all highly recommend Amici.

The chef was very helpful when I asked for a particular dish, and when I later asked for no coriander, he made a fresh batch of egg fried rice for me. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful too. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. It claims to serve Indian food, but what was served was far from authentic — bland, poorly cooked, and absolutely not representative of Indian cuisine. If you’re expecting the rich flavors and quality Indian food is known for, you will be utterly let down.
What made things worse was the staff’s behavior. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, and displayed an unacceptable level of arrogance and disrespect. I also experienced what felt like racist behavior, which is completely shocking and unacceptable in any hospitality setting.
The attitude of the staff made the entire visit uncomfortable and unpleasant. It’s one thing to serve bad food, but to treat customers with such disregard is inexcusable.

Unhappy by the service. Not a place for Asian people. Was not busy at all. There was a family in one table and a person waiting for a take away. But the waiter was quick and prompt and very respectful with the white customers that was present before us and that came after us. We went here twice during our stay in Sandown. The ambience looks good but the staff have absolutely no idea about the food. What they recommend as spicy turns out to be mild and rather sweet. They have no idea on the taste of the wine available. The naan bread and the fried rice were rather nice on day one of our visit.
Day 2 - we reached at 9 pm and we were told that they will do only takeaway now, no dine in. We placed our orders and returned after 20 mins. We saw new customers come in and offered a seat to be served. Seemed like a rather discriminatory act.
We ordered for takeaway 2 garlic coriander naan and one paneer naan and the paneer naan turned into plain naan. The naan becomes rather hard, chewy, bready for takeaway.
Mind the misinformation on the gmaps and their front door. It says restaurant closes at 10 pm in google maps and in their front door it says 11 pm. They stop serving for dine in before 9 pm, or atleast to some people of their choice.
Sandown is such a lovely place. I wish this restaurant was run by better staff.

I’ve gone for a 4 star rating to be fair .. but I think really on my visit I would go 3 .. maybe 2 ☹️ .. but I’ve gone 4 because i think they meant well.
So I attended on a fairly hot day, you can’t pre order online and the phone never gets answered from what I saw whilst I was there .
So walked in and there was about 5/6 people waiting before me .. put an order in for 4 people , basically 3 cod , nuggets , 2 chips mushy peas and onion rings .. so not a massive amount. We then waited no joke 40 mins for our food. 3 or 4 people came in after us and got served ?.. there was no real order to how the food given out. I would think you’d do one at a time in the order they got served. But anyway to top it off .. we got home and mushy peas had been forgotten 🤦🏼♂️ our 1 and half year old was fuming :( .
I did feel sorry for them , there was only 3 members of staff working and clearly overrun. Someone did complain as well when we were there asking for a refund as the food had been sat out for 20 mins . So I think this didn’t help.
But the guy taking orders was friendly and the prices are good. Just a pretty unfortunate the time we attended I feel

We visited Isle of Wight and thought of having some authentic Indian food and found this place very local.
Wonderful service. I asked for medium desi hot Lamb Masala Handi Gosht. The sauce wasn’t sweet at all and tasted delicious.
We will be going there again tmrw evening.
Indians do try this restaurant but make sure ask for authentic taste and they will prepare it for you.

My African friend got food poisoning, intestinal problems and infections and huge non liquid diarrhea from her 4 stacks pancakes, I never had such a bad meal like that. A very nice Thai restaurant on the high street in centre of Shanklin. The menu here is extensive with all the Thai favourites. Food is served up piping hot and very quickly ( as all Thai food should be ) by the very polite staff. Prices here are also very reasonable.
It can get quite busy at peak times so I would recommend booking although the staff will always do their best to get you in if you haven't.
There is a nice relaxed atmosphere here and I would highly recommend giving it a visit.

Had a great experience today at the Salix cafe being served by Mark. Very chatty and polite , warmed up my meal I bought from home (I have dietary needs) as well as provided me extra sauce and seasonings for the food we ordered from him. Very relaxing environment in the lovely weather and beachfront view , really made me smile with his level of service and kindness. I’ve just come back from a long weekend with my 11-year-old and it was so nice to see The Salix open every day that we were there even though it’s out of season.
I’ve reviewed this place before after a visit in summer when there’s live music and a real beach vibe and it was excellent then. Very unimpressed and the prices are extortionate now. The cod seemed like it had been sliced in half, making a really thin piece. It was also overcooked for both of us, very dry. Been going here for years during our visits to the island - £13 for a portion of cod and chips is too much. Comparable places in similar settings across the island are much more reasonable. Despite the busy atmosphere, their lovely terrace provided a charming setting, although it was slightly affected by the chilly and windy weather. Visited on a beautiful sunny day in July, managed to bag a table out on the terrace. What a stunning location!! You could be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere in the Mediterranean. The atmosphere was great with a guy on an acoustic guitar keeping the guests entertained. On our visit the place was extremely busy and the staff handled the pressure so well. We were looked after brilliantly and nothing was too much trouble. My main had crunchy raw onion, uncooked clumps of garlic purée and hard baked bits of pasta. My wife's chips were undercooked, the steak was lovely, cooked exactly as she wanted it. Collected a Chinese from here this evening, unfortunately did not enjoy it. The chow mien was the worst we’ve had from a takeaway, it had absolutely no flavour to it at all and was SO greasy as if the noodles were just coated in oil. I stopped by Rios Burgers while staying nearby for work. It seems that the person behind the counter is likely the owner as they were very attentive. The customer service was excellent. Incredible burgers at really fair pricing, chips are always spot on and the blue cheese sauce is chunky and tasty 😍🤤. Staff are friendly, have been happy for me to make changes to burgers and the delivery driver was prompt and polite.

Caesars Restaurant is an outstanding establishment where Jamie warmly welcomed everyone, including the youngest and most spirited children. The customer service was exceptional as nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff. The quality of food was remarkable, offering great value and delectable cocktails. Both Jamie and the chef were extremely friendly, despite being understaffed due to illness. Despite this setback, they managed to serve all dishes promptly and with absolute deliciousness.

Great value restaurant if you want to enjoy sea views whilst eating of an evening. Really well presented dishes and the young man serving us was brilliant and seemed to be serving everyone at once, meeting and greeting and making the drinks too. Family friendly and good for those of us on a budget. Something for everyone on this menu. Some parts of the venue are a little shabby (toilets), but to be honest, that just adds to its rustic charm.

I'll start by saying that the staff are friendly and welcoming, I really wanted to be able to leave a good review because they got my phone out from behind the radiator when my son dropped it, unfortunately we waited 45 minutes with a sub par cocktail and a Pepsi, to be told that our order hadn't been sent to the kitchen because the ticket didn't print properly, the owners daughter then 'clarified' my order and had the wrong thing so went running back to the kitchen to let them know. We were offered drinks which I thought were complimentary because of the wait... they were not. When the order came my son was handed an adult pizza, again I thought they had just done that because of their mistake as I had asked for kids size when I initially ordered, I was charged for this too. When the food came, 1 hour and 25 minutes after we first got there, my steak was overcooked and tough; I ate the first bit I cut and left the rest - I had asked for medium well. The chips were nice and my son ate a couple of slices of the pizza, we took the rest with us. The owners daughter gave lots of apologies but no compensation was offered. I paid my bill and left very disappointed.
I was surprised they had so many good reviews, maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Needless to say it is not somewhere I would recommend.
