We had a great time at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable right away. The view from our table was absolutely beautiful — it really added something special to the whole experience.
The food was fantastic. Every dish we ordered was full of flavor and really well prepared. You can tell they use quality ingredients and put care into their cooking.
Overall, everything came together perfectly: great service, amazing view, and delicious food.

Ci hanno consigliato questo ristorante abitanti del posto. In effetti c'è tanta clientela e bisogna prenotare con almeno 24h di anticipo. Il ristorante ha una vista spettacolare sulla vallata fino al mare. Però se prenotate all'esterno tenete in conto del possibile vento, intenso lì a Monchique. Servizio attento, veloce. Fantastic restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was fresh and full of flavor. Don’t miss the grill platter, or anything off the grill. The staff were so kind and thoughtful, really making sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Reservations are definitely a must since it gets busy, and if you can, ask for outdoor seating in the back patio — it’s a beautiful and relaxing spot to enjoy your meal. Highly recommend!

While highly recommended, the place is a bit of hit and miss. The service levels are good but the ambience is quite clustered with seats very close to each other and the overall ambience not the best. The food as I can describe is rustic as the prawns and ox tail we ordered had pieces which were perfectly cooked and pieces which were under done. We still enjoyed the food and would say it's worth visiting if you are taking a trip to monchique.

We decided to visit this restaurant on our first night in Portugal and wow, we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable, the owner gave us a full run down of the dishes available and why he loved them. I'd never expect to order a 'cabbage stew' in a restaurant but he had recommended it so fervently I thought I had to try it... And wow, this was not just cabbage stew but an absolute assault on the senses. The flavours, seasoning and all of the other things in the stew... Sweet potato, sausage and some other bits I have no idea what they were but it was top notch!!
There were 4 of us, we all ate very well including a platter of starters, a main and 3 desserts plus drinks and we spent €25 euros each 😲
Excellent value, great homely authentic Portuguese food and some brilliant friendly and helpful service to go with it. Not to be missed!
The pictures really don't do the food justice, it may not look like much but.... Well just try it!!

We ordered some grilled prawns that took 45 minutes to arrive and a cod and a meat stew that took an hour and a half to arrive. When they brought us the food, the cod was cold and undercooked. We realized that the diners behind us (who had arrived half an hour later) had ordered the same dishes, and our order had been served to them instead of us. We understand that mistakes happen, but it would have been better to acknowledge the error instead of treating us like crazy people after waiting for an hour and a half.

This is a popular restaurant in a traditional setting, offering good value. We opted for traditional meals, cod and the lamb stew. More mainstream choices looked good too. There was a small choice for my vegetarian travel companion so she ordered a starter salad and the main course to be served together. She wasn't informed that her main was freshly cooked and would take quite some time. Her salad was actually served when my main course arrived, and her main course didn't arrive for another 30 minutes after I'dfinished eating, so the whole meal was a bit disjointed.

Das Paradaiso do Montanha macht seinem Namen alle Ehre: Ein kleines Stück Paradiesisch mitten in den Bergen der Algarve! Abseits vom Trubel, ruhig und ursprünglich gelegen, wird das Restaurant liebevoll als Familienbetrieb geführt – genau die Art von Ort, die wir im Urlaub suchen.
Die Preis-Leistung ist absolut top. Wir hatten ein Menü mit Vorspeise (Brot, Oliven und Aufstrich), Hauptgang (Piri Piri mit Salat und Pommes) und Dessert (Mousse au Chocolat) – dazu Wein und Bier. Alles war hervorragend zubereitet, einfach, aber mit viel Geschmack und Herz. Das Piri Piri war wunderbar würzig, das Fleisch zart, und die Beilagen passten perfekt zur bodenständigen, traditionellen Art des Hauses.
Das Essen wird schlicht auf einem Silbertablett serviert – keine überflüssige Deko, sondern ehrliche Küche, die satt und glücklich macht. Genau diese Einfachheit und Authentizität liebe ich an Portugal!
Fazit: Ein echter Geheimtipp – paradiesisch, familiär, köstlich und mit einem unschlagbaren Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Sollten wir wieder an der Algarve Urlaub machen, kommen wir ganz sicher wieder! 🌿🍷🐓

We had a lovely dinner at Rampa last night. The French hostess was very welcoming and attended to all of our choices and questions.
I had the steak with fries and pepper sauce and my partner had the Cod with finely sliced potatoes. My steak was very good. The overall taste of both dishes was very good.
There was a good atmosphere and on a mister, cool evening it reminded us of a cosy ski lodge.
We thanked the chef through the hatch as we left and enjoyed the whole experience.

This charming ramshackle cottage is on the side of the road, a couple of kilometres from the top of Foia mountain summit. First impressions and you'd think it's closed, but walking up the ramp to the entrance will see you greeted by your host. His dry sense of humour and his masterful use of English is both welcoming and entertaining. I ordered Piri Piri (obviously) and my partner ordered Carbonara and it was delivered promptly and efficiently. It was a huge portion for both of us, probably one would have done us both. The piri piri was divine, and although I didn't realise it, the whole chicken was already marinated in the infamous sauce, so the addition of a small bowl made me dip into it thinking that was the only sauce. I love the heat of the birds eye chillies, but almost immediately I had a running nose and was sweating! Sheer heaven. The view was sublime whilst we ate, looking over the foothills towards Monchique and our host was more than a little disappointed neither of us could finish our dishes. It must be a bit of a golden find because even locals were stopping in for their lunch, and all in all it was very reasonably priced. The only downside was some English tourists who were expecting the Ritz dining room, complaining about this and that.

Found this spot on a rainy Sunday morning looking for some lunch, and weirdly it was deserted (probably because we are in the low season).
The smell of frying oil when you walk in the place is incredibly strong, and not in a good way unfortunately.
The food was nice, a man was making everything himself, taking our orders, preparing our meal, serving us. He was nice but also a bit weird being looked at for the duration of the whole lunch because we were the only people there.

The place was empty, I was there with just the owner (and cook at the same time; he was preparing food in kitchen next room but I didnt smell any unwanted scents, like oil or something) and I ordered francesinha as I had heard about this food before. Tendo trabalhado na restauração durante os últimos 5 anos, sendo que os últimos três foi em restauração de luxo, dá-me sempre prazer visitar locais assim, tradicionais, pequenos e familiares.
E aconselho sempre aos turistas com quem trabalho, que tentem imergir na cultura algarvia e portuguesa, dessa forma evitando assim as tourist traps e descubrindo estes tesouros escondidos, que fazem do Algarve, o melhor segredo da Europa, mas que nos dá vontade de partilhar com todo o mundo.

I visited O Zé based on the hosts' recommendation, otherwise I wouldn't have recognized it. The appearance of the restaurant from the street may be misleading, but inside you can find delicious food and a great selection of house wine. The staff is incredibly welcoming and I highly recommend O Zé! It was the only place open on a cold, foggy, rainy night and I'm glad I found it. They offer numerous options with generous portions at affordable prices, along with friendly service.

I have lived in monchique on and off for 17 years and I've been in this restaurant countless times over the years. I would have given it a 5 star review before it recently changed hands.
I brought a group of friends there for dinner, all visiting from Scotland and we loved it so much we went back the day after. The lovely people who have taken over have brought a whole new energy to the place. They clearly love what they do. We were treated simultaneously like royalty and family. The food was cooked with love and local tradition as well as high quality, local ingredients. Whenever I bring friends over to monchique, this is the restaurant they will be taken to so that they can experience the friendly and warm nature that is Monchique.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und man saß wirklich sehr schön. Ansonsten gibt es aber leider nichts positives zu erwähnen. Die Pizza kam bereits 5 Minuten nach Bestellung und sah aus wie eine Tiefkühl-Pizza. Schmeckte allerdings noch schlechter als eine TK Pizza. Wahnsinnig viel nach nichts schmeckender Käse und Dosenpilze… das war wirklich mit Abstand die schlechteste Pizza die wir je im Restaurant erhalten haben, wir sind hungrig zurück ins Hotel… und noch dazu war diese unverschämte Pizza wahnsinnig teuer. 17€! absolut keine Empfehlung.
