Ate with three others, all enjoyed their ample servings. The prawn puree starter is very large and tasty. I had part of a lamb dhansak and lamb madras. Excellent dhansak, sweet, sour and pretty spicy for the dumbed down curry of 21st century. The meat itself is very well cooked, little fat, no gristle, lovely. Madras could be hotter but see previous general complaint. Had a slight order mix up which the manager sorted quickly and effectively. The prices are exceptionally fair, the portion sizes beyond generous and the food unquestionably delicious and tasty. The service staff are kind, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating and dinner service was reasonably prompt (I've never been left waiting too long and everyones food always comes out together which is appreciated). The atmosphere is professional and fancy without feeling rigid and uptight. The restaurant is also very large (but clean!) so you're rarely wedged up beside someone else which is appreciated, especially as a larger group. I honestly have nothing bad to say other than that the salad served with the lasagne is a little silly and could use extra care and attention or withdrawn all together. I'd also like to see calorie and nutritional information on the menu so that people who require it can make an informed decision about what they're eating. Other than that though, do keep up the excellent work.

The renovations are impressive, and the open fire was a lovely welcome on a wet, miserable day. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. The carpark is still large given the huge marquee that's been put up behind the pub. We booked a table in advance and when we arrived we were greeted with a warm smile and were taken to our table. The tables are really well spaced and there is additional seating outside in the garden. The menus were single use and all of the staff wore face masks. We ordered drinks while we perused the menu and they arrived quickly. The Doom Bar was at a nice, cool temperature and very refreshing. The menu has some classic pub-grub favourites (fish'n'chips, burgers and steaks) alongside some interesting vegan options. We placed our order and our meals arrived quite quickly, well presented and our server brought additional sauces at our request. The meals were really good, tasty and well prepared. My main course fish platter was excellent with crab meat, prawns, salmon and hot mackerel fillets and flat bread. The spicy chicken salad was equally good and the cajun and fries we had as a shared side will be difficult to resist on future visits. Service was excellent and our glasses didn't sit empty. There was a local band playing throughout the evening (Roxton Press) and although their drummer was absent (Covid!) they were very entertaining playing a laid back mix of familiar covers. They certainly made a dinner at the pub feel a little bit special. We will keep an eye open for the next time that they're appearing so we can come and enjoy another dinner with music here. I never got this so had to ring up to check we did have a table. We ordered the set meal for 4 as it was a Birthday 'treat'. After we had eaten the duck pancakes, we waited for the main dishes. By 45 minutes of waiting and several trips to ask what was going on, it transpired that the staff knew they were over booked for that night, had not enough staff and by then, our food had not even began to be cooked. According to the waiting staff, when they pushed the owner/cook, he said he "did not care" that people were waiting. After waiting an hour for the main dishes to come, we gave up and left. So much for a celebratory Birthday Meal. It was a disaster. The place was chaotic, fraught, so unwelcoming and not at all pleasant. If the Owner is so uncaring and not bothered by giving customers a pleasant evening, we will in future take our money elsewhere. It was all very well getting what we did eat and drink for no charge, but it ruined the evening, and left me upset.

We ended up staying at a hotel a few minutes walk away. The attached pub/restaurant was very noisy, not a very relaxed atmosphere and the food that we saw being served looked disappointing so we thought we'd go for a walk and see what was around. We saw this place and walked in. What a lovely place! The service was so incredibly friendly, the food menu delicious and varied and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. The great sign of a restaurant is repeat customers and many of the other people there were greeted by name as old friends by the staff. Having never l been to St Neots, let alone here before, we were still made to feel so at home and really enjoyed the lovely food (we were a group of 4 people aged between 12 and 80 and we all loved all the different dishes we chose... we had to share them so we could all try everything!). We tried some new dishes & stuck to some old favourites. Sadly, we were left thoroughly disappointed. You can't go wrong with Sweet & sour chicken balls can you. Well, apparently you can. The balls were soggy & flat. The Chow means were ok, and the spring rolls lovely. Chinese chicken ok but bit tasteless, whilst the Sezchuan chicken was sloppy, had hardly any flavour & looked unappealing. Photos included. The Special rice was repulsive looking & everyone gave it a miss. The spare ribs looked horrible & chips completely over cooked. We won't be using again & will go back to our usual! We were greeted with such warmth and asked where we would like to sit. We sat by the window so we could look out over the square. The restaurant is spotless and beautifully decorated, very Italian feel to the decor and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We decided on trying a couple of Spritz drinks as a treat, I had the Pink Spritz and Simon had a Rossini Spritz, both were beautifully refreshing. Now onto the food, for starters I ordered the Frittura Calamari and Gamberi, which was divine! Freshly cooked to perfection and could have eaten another plate! My husband had the Mozzarella Pizza Bread with Caramelised Red Onion, I tried a slice and we both agreed that the pizza base was spot on and we were both very happy with everything so far. For the mains, I ordered the Tagliatelle Sapori D'Italia, which was prawns and squid with black garlic, onion, courgette and white wine with Pecorino...... It was without a doubt, the best pasta dish I've eaten outside of Italy in years, the flavours were perfectly balanced and it was to die for, especially the black garlic, I had to stop myself from licking the plate. Simon had the Ravioli alla Caprese, being a fussy vegetarian, he is hard to please but he absolutely loved the Ravioli, we both agree that portion size is plentiful and was well presented and the quality was first class. We opted for the traditional Tiramisu for dessert, this was lovely and creamy but our only criticism was that it needed more coffee and Tia Maria flavour. We complimented the chef and staff on an amazing meal and will definitely be going back to try more off the varied menu. They could do with a few more options on the Pasta menu for Vegetarians, however, I get the feeling that if you ask then the chef will happily oblige to try and adjust a recipe to your tastes. Thank you for a wonderful anniversary meal and the Limoncello shots on the house were a nice touch to finish our meal. See you again soon.

The waiter was very welcoming, offered us a choice of seating areas. When we ordered our food (their steak), he said it was one of their delicacies.
