We stumbled across Shambles Bar Bistro and I’m so glad we did. The service is great and the staff are super friendly. The food is always excellent. The toilet is always very very clean. When the dog is ready we bring him in and he is always made very welcome in this dog friendly establishment. This is one of those places that excels at what they do and where you will never be disappointed that you walked in the door. Very highly recommend it.

Food was delicious, well cooked and presented also didn’t have to wait too long. Lovely large beer garden to the rear with benches and a large grassed area for the kids to play. On arrival to place looked tired and in need of a spruce up, but we decided to continue inside. The polite young man behind the bar asked us where we wanted to sit etc and signposted us into a side room. We ordered our food and drinks and sat patiently waiting for it to arrive. This gave us time to observe our rather tired surroundings. The interior looked in need of a deep clean and the football shirts framed on the wall were filthy. The male urinal was not connected to a fresh water flushing system and the trough vile! If we had gone to the loo prior to ordering we would have left. On a positive note the food arrived and was delicious. The young lad was pleasant and the drinks did the job too. However, the place felt unloved and in need of a dust, mop and lick of paint. In these times of economic crisis I understand that cash may be tight and businesses are watching every penny, but sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate. I am sure a clean and freshen up would generate more repeat business.

On both evenings I had a main course and desert. Both meals were delicious and for an almost 7 foot male with a good appetite, the portions were MAN SIZE. The second evening I had a tikka curry which was one of the nicest curries I've had anywhere and the young lady who cooked it was the stand in for the chef on the night. The staff were great and I must mention Leon, who did a sterling job looking after me. Made my local stay very special, thank you to all at The Cross Keys, Dilham. We sat in the restaurant, the bar was busy as they were showing 4 in a bed (they were featured in it ), at 6.30 there was a loud cheer as it was announced they had won. We stay in Norfolk regularly and like to try different places and thought we’d give The Kings Arms a go. Seating and tables were basic but adequate. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. I had the mixed grill and I have never seen so much meat on a plate, and it was all excellently cooked...my medium steak was actually cooked as medium too. We came here for an impromptu roast dinner a few weeks ago and it was excellent. Didn’t get to have Yorkshire puddings but I’m not fussed about that at all. The veg were really good which I always think is a key to a properly good roast dinner. We saw that they did afternoon teas but the website doesn’t have any food info on it yet. We emailed to check they could do GF and they were very accommodating. They emailed a full list of what would be included in advance. The first few pics are of my GF spread which had a cheese fondue, bread sticks and the most delicious thing that tasted a bit like stuffing in place of a sausage roll. I don’t know what it was but I could’ve eaten several! There were three sandwiches, a fruit scone with jam and clotted cream, a strawberry mousse pot and a selection of little cakes. The savoury sausage type thing with cheese fondue was my favourite part, followed by the scone. They also have the loveliest staff working for them. The young guy who served us today was extremely polite and friendly. The building has recently been refurbished and it’s really nice along with a great outdoor space. I saw that the main menu had many adaptable meals so loads of choice for coeliacs.
