We ordered four meals two roast trio and two normal roasts with extra pigs and blankets . Very disappointed that paying an extra £7.40 for extra meat but receiving the thinest piece of beef and a fatty lump of pork as the extra meat , even the pigs were so pale and under cooked. Even after advising the staff of our plates felt like a waste of complaining as they just brushed it off. Definitely will not be returning from receiving poor service and long waiting times for each of our family members to receive their meals and missing drinks. Feel very disappointed from wanting it to be a special day for our parents but spending a lot of money to get poor value and service.

My first was a glowing but unbiased review of a local restaurant. However, I hate to even write this one. I came today for a Sunday dinner and saw pie on the menu, I got told steak and cheddar for today’s pie - sounds like heaven. But, the steak was the fattiest cut and burnt on the sides, my lovely server game me a steak knife as I requested but it was little left once I cut the fat off so essentially was just pastry. The steak itself was so dry. Again the lovely server (very profesh btw) told me she will exchange it and that she did but she mentioned the chef said ‘they’re all like this so I’ll make her a dinner’ I found myself pondering the meaning of this the rest of the meal (I elected for a new pie as I was excited for pie) was it no confidence in his cooking, a sarcastic comment? I’ll never know. So I read these reviews. The general consensus seems to be that Sunday lunch is something needed to be improved upon. Moreover, my daughter had a bag tummy this day so I ordered her chicken nuggets and chips - which were banging actually. Upon reflection I think the flavours are there with the food as we discussed at the table but temperature wise and meat needs to be reevaluated. I think this restaurant has real potential, I would definitely come back and try the lunch again.

The inside of the restaurant is beautiful old english interior which makes it feel really cosy so we were expecting the food to match. We ordered one of each sharing platter to start, The camembert which is the main part of the platter was overcooked and hard as if it had been sat under a heat lamp for a while as well as not having any truffle or honey on, aswell the rosemary had congealed to the cheese so only a small portion was actually edible therefor a lot of the dipping bread went to waste too which is a shame for near £18. The chicken sharer was cooked nicely but did not seem fresh for the price of it being more expensive then “truffle and honey camembert”. We finished what we could actually eat from those and waited for the mains, which we did not mind as we enjoy a break in between meals, However the mains came and we were not impressed. We ordered 2x Beef Shins 1x Chicken Parmagina and a Fish finger sandwich. The two beef shins we sent back as they were cold which is understandable as mistakes do happen so we politely sent them back and said we don’t mind just heating them up a bit more but the waiter told us they would have to be made fresh again which we didn’t mind at all. The chicken parm was dry as sticks with hardly any tomato base on so we asked for more of that which was provided. The fish finger sandwhich was dry with hardly any tar tar and the goujons had basically no fish in it was all batter, it seemed to be just the tails of the fish £12.50 for a batter sandwhich!! As the Beef shin was getting made fresh we obviously expected it to be another 40 minutes which is how long we waited for the mains to originally come so when the new “fresh” Beef Shins came out 10 minutes later we were skeptical. It was not remade it had been pinged in a microwave and transferred to a new plate. One came back with no broccoli on it anymore and the beef dripping had dried up completely as well as the mash. We would not have minded them being microwaved as stated previously but we were now expecting them fresh so we had ordered more drinks when we sent the beef shins back to enjoy while we waited still having hope but the drinks came after they had finished the Beef shins so the effect was lost completely. We had little to no apology and for the total price of it all it did not seem worth it which is a shame as it was amazing years ago, I will attach a copy of the receipt but overall for that price even cheaper we could have gone elsewhere and had a warm meal with friendly service, there did not seem to be many staff on they were running back and forth it was clearly very disorganised. Overall it is a shame but we won’t be coming back as it was a really disappointing experience.

The food was really good and the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a little wait for the food but that was to be expected as it was really busy. Pasta was nice but of average quality you'd expect in a place like this. The food is on the overpriced side based on quality and quantity. The mid-week special menu offers a good deal but is not applicable to takeout customers...l didn't learn this until I was asked to pay - an extra few quid makes no real difference but I felt it was poor form and deceitful. It also wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu itself - this was an unpleasant surprise when the bill arrived. I definitely wouldn't return - l'd rather pay more for better quality elsewhere.

Everyone was impressed with the decor and ambiance however we all thought that the acoustics were really bad as general conversations were annoyingly noisy. The use of sound absorbing ceiling and wall solutions and porous tablecloths, curtains, rugs should reduce the noise levels. The welcome and service was excellent, we ordered drinks poppadoms and pickle trays and a range of main courses and naan breads. Everyone really enjoyed all the food, the portions were generous and the prices were very competitive. We have recently become regular visitors to this Frankie and Benny's and have always been happy with the food, service and atmosphere, but unfortunately this morning we were very disappointed. The menu is small, but there is a decent choice with additional specials most days. I opted for the Clayton Cheeseburger, which was very good; Juicy, tasty and with lovely onions. It was paired with skinny fires and onion rings both of which were really good too. To drink I had the Pubs only draft ale - Burrows Blond from Black sheep, it was ok. More choice would have been nice. My other half had a fish finger sandwich, which was also nice, with a nice homemade tartare sauce too, this was accompanied by a side of truffle and parmesan fries and some onions rings, which were superbly crunchy. We both had the sticky toffee pudding for desert, which was excellent. Hot caramel custard, the pudding itself and a scoop of very nice vanilla ice-cream. Top notch. In summary an excellent little pub with staff that are very friendly and welcoming and a very decent feed; having a single ale was a tad disappointing, but we'll definitely be back. 07/12/23 - Attended here for a post funeral do, it's been many years since I was last here but it seems to be a great little pub now. The buffet laid on by the pub was excellent, by far the best buffet i've had in a while, especially the corned beef pie and sandwich selection. The draft real ale selection was limited, but at least they had some. I stuck to the Black Sheep Session IPA. The pub got busier as the evening drew on with many coming for food, the menu is small, but seems worthy of a try. The food we saw coming out of the kitchen all looked good. We shall be back in the near future to try the food for ourselves.
