Food was lovely with a few choices for dessert too. I had the tandoori mixed grill (delious), and it comes with salad. Take your own alcohol 🍸, soft drinks available.
The only negative (sorry) was the reminder that they close at 10 pm from a staff member, which I think thought unnecessary at 2 mins to 10pm, might as well have said leave now....lotherwise a lovely experience, hence 5 stars 🌟

Yet again I am visiting another Indian restaurant while I'm away.
The Viceroy is a small welcoming restaurant that has won awards in 2024. I do believe they should win them again.
The staff are pleasant and helpful which made the exceptional food even better.
I had popadoms with chutneys and couldn't believe it when 7 different chutneys came out.
I had the stuffed pepper which was very nice and perfectly cooked. For my main I had nilgiri chicken narungi. Wow if you like naga chilli flavour but without the extreme heat, this s the one for you.
If I were staying longer I would definitely be back to try something else.
Great service and great food.
Well done the viceroy, not a lot in this town but this curry house shined.

The best restaurant in Newhaven by a country mile. The decor and atmosphere are a little understated and the acoustics are quite "bright" but the quality of the food and the welcoming friendliness of the staff would be outstanding in somewhere like Brighton...in Newhaven they are truly exceptional!!! Always a real treat to eat here but, if it's cold and wet or there's something compelling on the telly, a takeaway or home delivery is prompt and almost as good...

I have been using this restaurant for years but recently the food has not been to a high standard for the price . The curry I have been eating for a very long time has been tasteless and watery . Also the photos show how a takeaway arrived to me . Then the restaurant accused me of doing it deliberately to get a free meal however , I had already played for it. They actually expected us to eat it out of the bag . The manager did send us another meal in the end and said it was a gesture of good will . Then told us not to bother ordering from them in the future .

It was very reassuring to eat here for vegan options. They have a printed vegan menu available upon request. This takes the hassle out of trying to request custom dishes as is the norm elsewhere. One of the few restaurants that offer a vegan onion bhaji which was very appreciated. I can also recommend the Madras. This restaurant is a model example of how to cater for those with dietary requirements - I will be returning!

Stopped for breakfast at 08:45 Wednesday morning 4th Dec it's an all you can eat buffet style with both continental and full English options.
Clean tidy with plenty of choice, although coffee machine was a tad slow, and they had run out of hash browns...
Only one staff member to be seen but she was pleasant and did well to keep tables clear and was very helpful to a couple who had had an accident with their food.
Easy to access with plenty of parking.
Bathroom clean and tidy.

Sadly this is the worst Brewers Fayre I've ever visited.
Very messy, food all over the floor ( even though it wasn't busy, counted 3 other tables with guests only ).
Meat had run out ( turkey ) on carvery at 2.30pm.
Toilets were worst I've been in.

Been a while since we've been as a family to this Brewers as we normally go to the Hastings. But last visit wasn't great so came back to The Drove , for my wife's birthday lunch .Fantastic warm and friendly in environment . Clean and tidy and decorated Fantastic for Xmas.
Food was fantastic went for the festive 3 course meal and our kids had similar.
Was a great afternoon only negative we had was thought the time between courses was abit long.

It’s a very busy restaurant! Very short staffed, there one poor lady behind the till doing it single handed while there like 2/3 people on the floor!
Calvary ran out of meat, food was about 45 mins wait and same for puddings! All the adults got there puddings before the kids did was meant to be frozen yogurt fruit but was frozen bellies as whole!
The food was nice but they need more staff as soft play had no one in there supervising most of the time and there it a bit chaos😌
Only positive thing I have to say is the two girls one with blonde and one with Brown hair made it good!
Even paid for a semifreddo that wasn’t even even served but still paid!

I had both of my daughters combined birthday party in Drove Brewers Fayre. It was a fantastic experience. We booked private venue. I was a bit concerned because these environments tend to be cold first thing in the morning. However, we arrived shortly before 10am- music was on, it was nice and warm, seating area nicely decorated. Host was ready and very flexible. And food was fantastic! All our guests was well impressed. Once the softplay opened to general public, we were not rushed away. I was well impressed and the price was way lower than elsewhere for similar set up. If you want a private, affordable and not huge setting for your little ones party, I highly recommend Drove Brewers Fayre in Newhaven.

Came for breakfast yesterday on a busy Saturday morning. The food was constantly being topped up, hot, fresh and cooked perfectly. Nowhere seems to be able to cook eggs on buffet breakfasts, but the eggs put out yesterday were runny as they should be. The girl serving was really nice, even under the pressure of serving the whole restaurant on her own, and I could see the chef running back and forth to make sure the breakfast buffet was constantly full. Credit to these two. Will be returning and recommending to friends and family.

I am writing to raise a complaint about my recent experience while trying to organise a birthday party at Drove Brewers Fayre.
Throughout October, I repeatedly attempted to contact the restaurant by phone and email, but received no answer or response. I have tried calling around 50 times with no success. I eventually visited the restaurant in person, only to be sent away and told that the manager would contact me. It has now been a full week, and I still have not received any follow-up.
Additionally, the lady at the front desk was not very friendly or helpful during my visit, which made the experience even more disappointing.
I understand that businesses can get busy, but the complete lack of communication and customer care has been extremely frustrating. I had hoped to celebrate an important occasion at your venue, but this service has made it impossible to plan anything.

Starters where so poor, the wings roulette had no sauce and was nothing roulette about it as they had tear drops of bbq sauce here and there the flavours were plain plain and slightly very slightly bbq. They were cold also and about as crispy as used tissue
My dad had the crispy prawns which was again embarrassing.
How the chef can send it out with no shame is beyond me.

I would like to thank Chris, Lauren, Millie and all the staff who were working at The Hope Inn the afternoon we held our Mothers “Dignified Get Together “ following her final journey.
We booked the afternoon before Chris and Lauren took over the pub. They happily honoured our booking although they’d only been in a few weeks before our event.
They were amazing. They couldn’t do enough for us.
Regular communication, listened to our food requests and did a very reasonably priced buffet.
Supplied requested drinks, even the sherry( Mums favourite).
They made a very emotional day very dignified and beautiful.
Thank you again all of you. We will be visiting again very soon soon.

Great Atmosphere and Friendly Staff!
I had a fantastic time at The Hope Inn. Last week.
The pub has a really warm, welcoming vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the service was quick. The food was delicious. Prices are fair. Definitely one of the best pubs in the area — I’ll be coming back soon. When I’m in the area visiting family will be defo stopping back in.

I am captivated that Newhaven has finally been given the opportunity, to host a beautiful al fresco venue, such as this.
I can only hope that more people are ready to invest, in a lovely, local, summer, evening here, to enjoy, truly authentic, fresh, made to order, Neopolitan, Italian, food and enjoy the dolcite tones of the vintage music, coming from within.
The vegetarian aubergines and mozzarella dish, with the house salad, was perfectly proportioned and not too overfilling, or too heavy. The house red was mindblowing aromatic bottle, full bodied with fruity bursts, with hints of blackberries.
Rustico Newhaven, is a hidden gem in Newhavens Harbour, totally affordable and will not break the bank either.
Perfect for families of all ages and romantic dinner dates, or a lovely space to relax on your own. The al fresco area is also dog friendly, for well behaved pets.
A perfect evening and a little slice of heaven in the heart of the East Sussex coastline. Thankyou so much.

No draft beer or lager. Bottles only. Food was very tasty and large portions. A nice set 2 course menu available Monday to Thursday varied choice of starters and main. Decor, tables and chairs very basic but functional separate toilets men- women. Wheelchair accessible. Cash and contactless payment accepted. Parking is restricted a pay and park on private Road adjacent property. The restaurant will be under new ownership beginning of April 2025.

This is my absolutely favourite place to dine out in. I have never tasted food as great as this. I have quite a lot of allergies due to my MCAS and theyre always able to accommodate me. Every single dish we try is so delicious and the portion sizes are perfect! The service is always impeccable and the staff are always so happy which makes the experience even more awesome. Nothing is too much bother and even when its busy the waiting times are not long. Last night my partner and I had our anniversary meal here and our waitress lily was the sweetest and most helpful, she really made the evening feel special.

We called in out of the blue at lunch time today. Lily found us a table for two - even bringing us cushions for the chairs. Her customer service throughout our meal was absolute gold standard. Our food was delicious, flavoursome and wholesome - we were both really hungry as we had had a long walk over the downs. Flying fish is a charming spot with a lovely building and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual drink or a night out with friends, it has that classic pub feel that makes you want to stay a while.
The Guinness here is excellent—well-poured, smooth, and exactly what you’d hope for in a proper pint. It’s definitely a highlight and reason enough to visit.

We came for Sunday lunch after looking up on line for a day out .
I ordered a large Malbec but they only had enough for a medium, we ordered duck pate and Stilton mushrooms but they only had the mushrooms so my partner had prawn cocktail instead which was underwhelming. We both had pork asked for apple sauce but they had none . The food we had was well cooked medium portion.
The pub was empty which was a shame . The staff were helpful and attentive.

This is a little pub not too far from Seven Sisters Country Park. We visited for lunch and the service was very good.
The staff were very friendly especially the waiter, even though the pub is quite small and quiet it was still a very enjoyable experience. The chairs were comfortable with the tables being decent sized too.
There were a few times I questioned the hygiene of the glasses I was drinking out of, and considering that the restaurant has a 3 stat food hygiene rating at time of writing this. That could be a possible concern.
The menu is limited and prices are a bit high but considering it's a small pub that needs to make a living it can be understood. But the food itself was delicious. It took maybe 15 minutes for the food to be served after ordering it and considering we were the only ones in the restaurant, that wait could shoot up if there were many people or you had a bigger group.

Booked a table online for Sunday lunch and travelling for Burwash East Sussex to meet a good friend we arrived before the booking time at 1.55 pm to find it was closed now I had got an email confirmation that my booking was confirmed and a reminder. This is the second time we have been for food and not eaten there yet. Such a cute restaurant, reasonably priced and amazing meal out. Boyfriend and I were visiting the area and came for dinner. I had the seafood pasta and it was the BEST seafood pasta I have ever had (and I get it everywhere!). My boyfriend had the Calzone and again it was lovely. Had a fantastic meal out with friends last night at Padella D'oro Italian Restaurant. We did book ahead - best to do that to avoid disappointment.
One of my friends had Penne Filetto and the other Pollo Biancaneve with sauted potatoes, green beans and carrots, from the standard Menu. I had Pan Fried Dover Sole, Chips with Salad which was from the board.
How they managed to make my Dover Sole taste as wonderful as it did, I do not know. I think it had some sort of covering before it was pan-fried. I asked for the recipe but the waitress laughed and unfortunately I did not get the recipe. My chips were great. And the salad was so fresh and tasted gorgeous - you can measure a good salad by the taste of the tomatoes and they were excellent and sweet.
Both of my friends eat here regularly and finished off their dins with gusto. One of my friends had a glass of Rose and we had soft drinks.
Waitress (who I believe is the daughter of the owner) was wonderful and the restaurant was chock-a-block. The only reason I've downmarked from 5 star, is the ambience is slightly wrong - can't put my finger on it - I think it needs a little make-over, however, it certainly didn't detract from our enjoyment and excellent evening.

McDonald's, a well-established and enduring fast-food chain renowned for its hamburgers and fries, can easily be located at the retail park adjacent to the roundabout. Genuinely the worst McDonald’s I’ve been to. Food is always wrong, cold or completely forgotten about plus you are always waiting ages. Ordered on just eat and waited over 2hrs for the rider to turn up with our drinks side ways which of course resulted in all of the drinks spilling out…basically meaning we paid for a bunch of plastic cups to turn up to our door and whatever was left wasn’t even worth having. This also resulted in the food being soggy and horrible practically making anything left unpleasant. Not only that they also completely forgot one of quarter pounder meals and gave us no dips. We were so infuriated by this that we DROVE to the McDonald’s making ordering it completely pointless…and explained to the employee and manager that this was ridiculous and showed them photos and just wanted to get the order again and nothing more which would simply solve the problem. To then be told that it’s nothing to do with McDonald’s and they did their part but they “understand my frustration“ and to simply redeem it on the app meaning we spent £40+ to wait over 2hrs for a bag of inedible food with no drinks and wasted petrol going there.

I’ve visited here several times due to working in the area food is always alright however there is always a lot of staff.
However my van is too large to go in the drive through so I have to go in to the restaurant to order food.
I always find that it takes quite a while to get my food. I don’t order anything special just a double sausage and egg muffin or a quarter pounder with cheese. Really not quite sure why.
Lunchtimes can get extremely busy.
Have enclosed a video of an early morning breakfast took about 15mins to get my muffin and I was one of the only people in there.
Plus side loads of parking as it’s in a retail park.
I would visit again due to convenience.
Oh the hot chocolate has hardly any chocolate in it tastes like boiling water!!!!!

We have never had a good experience at this McDonald's (average 20 minute wait whether it's drive through or if you go inside). It is always incredibly slow and last time our order was just completely ignored even though we were one of the only people stood at the counter. It was so odd and terrible service. The food was okay but not as hot as it should be and we were not given any napkins or offered any sauces. Not professional or like the other McDonald's I have been to where it is actually fast food.

I always start with three stars and increase/decrease depending on experience. Firstly, a friendly welcome was appreciated and the cleanliness was A1. Obviously its a basic cafe so comfort is never priority but it was adequate and the food more than made up for any hard seating. Eggs cooked perfectly, sausages great quality and bacon expertly crisp!!! Staff were friendly, prices unbelievable for quality and setting was ok too.

Had breaky here this morning again (16th August 2025) and it's still as good as ever - photo now attached.
Myself and two friends had breakfast on the 20th May 2025. We all had full-english.
Oh my, what a fantastic breaky this was. Great sausage, lovely bacon, beans, mushrooms, fried egg and toast. Tea was also good - can't beat a great cup of tea in the morning.
Trust me a full-english can be dreadful or fantastic - this meal was fantastic.
Staff were friendly. Our order was taken within 2 minutes and the place was full. Our meals turned up around 9 - 10 minutes later. Sensible priced as well.

The burgers were great, the patty was seasoned perfectly, you can taste the quality of the ingredients.
Spoke to the owner Ben who was really friendly and passionate about his food.

The owner Ben cooks up great burgers for a great price.
I highly recommend anyone to try the peanut butter and jelly burger (unless you got nut allergy ) it sounds weird but taste really good.
They have plenty of indoor seating and if the weather is nice you can also have outdoor seating.
The burger and wings come in nice large cardboard boxes so if you can’t finish their massive burgers you can just take them away.
Ben also frequently changes the burger of the week so there is always something new to try.

Seriously, with each bite you take - you can feel and taste the love and passion the chef is putting in each of his products. While we were there he came out to one of the costumers and built his burger to their tastes and favorite ingredients.
Our Burgers were juicy, tender and full of flavours, the piri piri chips were amazing and the chef made us an English version to the "Big Mac sauce" (which he calls "Big Ben sauce") to dip the chips in and it was great.
In the past 2 years of living and travelling in the UK and tasting local foods all around, this is by far the best Burger I have eaten.
Also to mention the sweet staff that took our orders and the overall cheerful atmosphere you all had.

I’m ashamed to say that at first I was put off by the look of this place from outside and inside as it looks very basic, but boy, I didn’t regret trying the food!
I had the blue cheese/bacon burger and halloumi chips, and my husband had the special burger of the week and chips with piri-piri spices. Oh my, both our burgers were soooo good!! Juicy, full of flavour, just perfect.
My husband and I both agreed this is the best burger we’ve tried in two years of living in the UK. And it’s a shame we live a bit far from this place, because I would love to be a regular there.

I was staying in Newhaven for the night and I knew I wanted a burger and searched for food on Google maps. Saw the usual places then found Hot Spot Burgers. Read the reviews and thought I would give it a try. I went there to collect and was met by a small cabin, that looked a bit neglected but I AM so glad I didn't turn around. Went in and was greeted with a warm welcome, chose what I wanted and the service was great, even checked I like hot sauce because the loaded fries I chose have very hot sauce. The chap making the burgers came out and was super friendly and again checked on the hot sauce. Service was quick and I got it take away. Couldn't wait to tuck in and WOW, what a burger. I had blue cheese and bacon and it was delicious as were the loaded fries, but I did sweat after the hot sauce, I was warned! Amazing food, definitely give Hot Spot a try if in the area, they deliver too. Thanks guys for the amazing food.

We came across it when waiting for a ferry at Newhaven with a car full of us all hungry and looking for some decent grub. It's literally a 3 min walk from the ferry terminal and their burgers are insanely good. Try them - you won't be disappointed. Great folks too - really helpful tips for tourists like us.

It's Christmas Eve and my husband and I ordered from here. We ordered at 5.30pm expecting a fair wait but was told 45 minutes. The food arrived just 5 minutes after that with an apology from the delivery guy, although we would easily have waited an hour or more. Every dish was piping hot and exactly as we would have liked. Went to the Newhaven Curry House for a take away order on the Monday the 27th. I had a Chicken Tikka and it was still piping hot when we arrived home and the curry was absolutely superb and very tasty and was thoroughly enjoyable. We ordered from here (change from Malonchos in Peacehaven) as we can get it delivered but never again will we change from what we know is good! The lady on the end of the phone was lovely and helpful but when our food arrived it was cold. The rice, from where it had cooled from being so over cooked, was stodgy and stayed in lumps! My mum asked for her curry to be medium rather than the advertised mild which I was told was fine but when it came it was milder than mild! The onion bajis were tasty but cold, the naan was cold and chewy! My butter chicken had little taste. I called to let them know rather than post online but when I was told “we send the same rice out to hundreds of others and they don’t complain” and dismissed I changed my mind! Do not recommend!

Stumbled upon this wonderful place when visiting Screwfix. It's primarily a deli which also makes a small variety of sandwiches to eat in or go. The food isn't bad and always arrives fairly quick but I have to say the prices are becoming a joke, seems like every time I place an order the prices have hiked again, been using this place for years but this is the last time. Will find somewhere else.

Again the prices have gone up, mixed kebab now £16.50 beyond a joke, completely taking advantage of people now for a bit of bread, salad and about £4 worth of meat.... Then to charge £3 for delivery. This was a few years ago the best place around. Biggest rip off going now.
