We didn't know that we should make reservations, it was that busy. Though we didn't have to wait too long for a table. The wood oven pizzas were absolutely amazing, along with the rest of the food. The cheesecake is probably one of the best i have ever had. Our server Allie was very attentive and informative. The atmosphere was stunning with great vibes throughout. Our server Deanna was so wonderful, she allowed us to take our time looking over the drinks and the food menu, it my first time and I was had a hard time figuring out what I was wanted. My date had the Calabrese Pizza, super savoury, definitely recommend if you want to try a new flavour with your pizza. Everything came out super fast as well, we did not have to wait too long. The atmosphere is extremely enjoyable, wasn’t too loud and there wasn’t overpowering music either. We ended the evening the tiramisu, and as someone who isn’t personally the biggest fan of chocolate (i don’t eat it at all) this was delicious and I’ve never went home and craved something so much in my life…I’ll be back mainly for the tiramisu and Linguine Romantina, Deanna was telling me it’s one of her favourites!

Food was very flavourful and our meat entrees were cooked perfectly to our request. We love the dedication to local on the menu. Service was excellent and our server was very friendly. We made a reservation in advance but were initially seated at what was probably the worst table in the house, located right beside a large window looking out to the hostess desk and front entry area. Happily, when we asked for a different table they accommodated us without hesitation. My wife and I were very excited as this is a place where we first started to date and frequented. Had to hunt down staff after waiting ten minutes to get seated. Once seated the waitress was wonderful and very personable. We ordered our food despite them changing the menu and removing a lot of the staples like sweet potato fries. I got the great lakes pickerel and the wife ordered a taco salad, app was the cheese dip. The cheese dip didn't have the caramelized onions on it like advertised and the salad had cold chicken that resembled precooked chicken you get at the grocery store. The cheese on it also looked like it was just poured out of a bag, disappointing for an all local menu. The pickerel was good but I feel the oil temperature was off as the inside was very pasty and undercooked for the batter. The fries were also fishy suggesting they were fried in the same vat as the fish and they were soft not crunchy. When a meal with tip is over a hundred dollars it makes me very hesitant to go back when there are so many other local great options.

The menu is interesting and certainly reads well, not your usual fare which is a nice change. We had the beef cheeks which were nice and a pan roasted chicken which was a bit dry. Atmosphere was comfortable, but around the table, we were all quite disappointed. For starters, my food wasn’t even hot. My risotto came out at what was almost room temperature – returning it would mean having to wait for it to come back and eating after my family so I opted not to. To top it off, it was ultimately flavourless. The barley was just barely cooked and even still hard. The menu said there was roasted sweet potato, sweet potato purée, pesto, maple gastrique. The pesto just looked and tasted like green oil, there was no hint of maple, and the supposed roasted sweet potato instead looked and tasted like it had just been boiled… and to the point where the flavour had almost been boiled out of it. I also did not taste any sweet potato purée. Those around me tried it and were glad they had different meals…. I felt like I was eating plain boiled risotto. One of us also had a squash soup side - it was watery and had no puréed squash texture. As well, I don’t really care so much about this one, but I think it’s appreciated to be told when a side sauce is offered and has an up charge as that’s not always the case in all restaurants. The only thing enjoyed was their housemaid ginger ale. Chicken burgers were fine, fish and chips were said to be okay. I understand it’s the quality of ingredients that is key here, but with tax and tip, everything was $160 for 5 people and unfortunately, I feel bad to say, but the food was subpar at best.

The drinks and patio were pretty solid. The tropic thunder cocktail was quite good ($18). Mango Pico salsa was nice ($9) but the “House made tortilla chips” were not fresh. As for the tacos, the Birria Tacos were good (3 for $26.50) but very small. Doesn’t even come with the side. I would stay away from the Spicy Shrimp tacos (3 for $23). They were covered in Morita Mayo and it just over powered the taco. For all the bad reviews about the service ours was good. Not a crazy wait and she gave us recommendations. I typically just get a souvlakis dinner from Greek places but this one has a lot of interesting items on the menu. I ordered the chicken Karyai which was incredible. It's marinated chicken with a layer of marinara, topped with roasted red pepper and then feta and baked. Served with a side of fresh vegetables and a Fettuccini in marinara. Overall was incredible. Our server was very pleasant and welcoming, brought us a warm sliced bread with freshly made hummus and whipped egg roe thing I don't remember the name of. I’ve gone on deal night, their wings are mediocre at best, the fried chicken is done well for $2/pc deal. The burger and fries above par but also cost more than most places. It is DIVINE. we were just recently back for my birthday and it was wonderful, as always! The atmosphere is wonderful. They wwre trying out a new fall menu, and its just as good if not better than their standard one. I would highly recommend this place! It feels like you are transported back in time to a more simpler time. The music soundtrack that plays through the dinner are all the 60 and 70's classics. The servers are always friendly and efficient, and the food is absolutely amazing. You got your classic breakfast eggs and bacon, you got some fancy salmon on bagels, but if you come during their breakfast menu, I highly recommend the chicken tenders on waffles. The chicken tenders are fresh, hand coated in a light batter and then fried to a crispy, non oily perfection. Then paired with their fresh waffles and topped with syrup is amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. I would try to avoid the weekend morning rush if possible but, definitely worth a visit if you are in the Guelph area.

The chicken salad sandwich was chicken curry and delicious. I asked to change the cranberry and orange scone for their regular scone which was no problem and the scone was warm, soft and fabulous, especially with the cream they provide. The cranberry brie bite was a delicious little tart. My favourite sandwich was the pesto cream cheese and cucumber - delicious. They came by quickly to provide a refill of boiled water for my tea and were very attentive to ensure we had what we needed. My daughter got the cream tea [scone with cream and jam and a pot of tea], she opted for the cranberry and orange scone and loved it. My husband isn't a tea fan, he got the tuna sandwich and soup. The sandwich was huge, filled with good quality tuna. I would highly recommend the Boathouse Tea Room - their prices are very reasonable and the food was great.

Online booking was hassle free. There weren’t many people at the time of our visit so the food was ready in 15 mins. We have ordered bhuna ghost with naan and garlic naan. Bhuna ghost had a combination of tangy and sweet taste. I liked it but could be improved. Naans were good. The only thing I didn’t like is the sweet lassi which is literally like running water. It was already one of our favourite restaurants in Guelph but this put it to the top of our list. Puja worked so hard with me to accomdate the dietary preferences and allergies of our guests beforehand and create a menu that everyone loved. It was extremely good value for quality delicious food and we got so many complements on the dishes. The food was delivered properly and on time and Puja went above and beyond when our rental company forgot to deliver the trays for our warming ovens, and solved the problem without me even knowing about it. The menu is really creative, with lots of mix and match options for mains and sides. The two “sliders” are more like two full burgers and my husband and I could only get through one slider each. The prices are very reasonable. A quaint old house, a wonderful server and the “experimental” aspect of the menu was fun. However, the food really wasn’t that great. I ordered the enchiladas and they were dry and had a very strange flavour. My Caesar salad was so garlicky I could barely eat it - and I love garlic! My husband ordered the burger and it was “forgettable” according to him. The experimental drink was a fun touch. The peanut butter cheesecake for dessert was delicious and the best part of our meal. I would definitely give it another shot in the summer to experience the patio, order an experimental drink and eat that cheesecake again though!

The service is always quick, and the staff are super polite and accommodating, even when its super busy! That being said, it does get very busy very quick. They have one larger table inside that is better for accessibility purposes, and is very nice by the window and can seat quite a few people. Its quite cozy! But if that isnt of concern there is also the bar style seating. It is rather limited though. So id say definitely try and get there before the dinner or lunch rush! The patio seating during the summer is my favourite though, but even then they fill up quickly! Definitely one of my favourite local places and I will continue to recommend it!
