We would be driving through town at dinner time so we gave it a shot. Great menu with lots of variety and interesting nods to foods I imagine you WOULD find in Australia. One of the owners spend a good chunk of his life there, so I feel it's gotta be authentic. I opted for the Vegimite cheese Sanga, and my husband dove right into the kangaroo burger. Both were good choices, although I wouldn't recommend that sandwhich if you have trouble with salt. It was pretty salty. The salad was the best choice to counteract that. The burger was delicious, and you could tell it wasn't beef, in a good way. The staff were very friendly and assured us they were going to have even more on the menu in the future which I thought was amazing considering it was already pretty extensive. They also had a wide variety of drink options including many locally produced beers. (We stuck with water. But the other options were endless.)

Super cute live moss art. Great outdoor seating year round with heaters. The entire menu is gluten free which is outstanding and unexpected as there is a lot of pub fare. The atmosphere to start with is so relaxing, calms and welcoming with nice music and place settings. We were welcomed by Keanna who was a joy. She made some fabulous drinks and was very attentive. I had a great coffee education from the lovely barista who is studying to be an environmentalist (from the Tofino Ucluelet area of course). I had no idea that for instance: the beans in the grinder have to be full before grinding them as the displaced weight causes the grind to be different. Or that the humidity and temperature affect the coffee and the grind needs to be constantly recalibrated as the day goes on. An ideal expresso is sussposed to take between 28 (I forget) and 32 seconds. Any longer and the grind is too fine and less it is too thick. As my Mother knows, who often says I must have been a Queen in a past life, I LOVE beauty and decadence... no not hedonistic decadence: elegance... that combination of someone who prefers beauty and quality over the ugly feeling that comes from putting money and economics over life.  That is knowing that someone has actually put their divine essence into something, their soul, their spirituality that puts their creative God presence into what they love, and that is the blessing for all of humanity. I love the 1% of the best of the best of the best. The most intangible and exquisite of items.  This place caters to all of those desires: natural beauty and garden of beautifully designed raised beds to view which is full of fennel, lavender, blooming chives, cabbage, radishes, mint and rosemary. The coffee is also beautiful to look at with the very aromatic Drumroaster coffee in happy, colorful mugs ( which makes everything taste better). When you get thirsty there is delicious clear water that tasted glacially fresh pouring from a natural looking installed water spout, smooth, elegant wood benches and chairs inside and out, with a covered pergola. There is an incredible selection of pastries and food with their own pastry chef! The best part is that it is on a main street with so little traffic that you are not choking on gas fumes. I love how busy and quiet it is here. Everyone is peaceful. It doesn't have the vibe of frantic Vancouverites looking for their latest hit or the anxiety of tourists with their demanding needs that seem to suck the life out of everything they see as they go along in their journey of constant imbuements. Wildflower cafe is in a decidedly Canadian town to me. Possibly the last one left in BC, or at least the island. Old cars, lots of heritage slightly run down buildings with lots of beautiful old churches. Big, wide roads and lots of forests. God, I hope the developers never find out about this place. They will destroy it in 2.5 seconds flat as they’ve destroyed every last community in BC. This place is perfect, a mix of Indigenous, colonizers, artists, farmers, workers, people flowing in and out as they pass through to get to Tofino and LOTS of surfers moving here to carve out their life as they have been displaced from what should still be there home: tofino.

I discovered this amazing mexican restaurant a couple years back. I am finally back in town for work today and had the best tacos with the best service by Tina ! Ate my food on the patio with a cold mexican beer. What ab amazing lunch !!

Self proclaimed. We got 6 chicken tacos and 2 margaritas with tip which was 120 bucks. So we’re going to critique like a 120 dollar taco should be critiqued. The thing with chicken tacos, you need a tender juicy well seasoned meat, a deliciously made slaw with sweet sauce to make you melt, pickled onions and of course hot sauces available. Big sauce guy. The meat was good, not dry at all, and had fair amount of flavour. The slaw sauce was quite nice, sweet enough to notice but not over powering. The pickled onions could use a bit more tang and overall flavour. “Hot” sauce wasn’t super hot, but my tolerance is reaper level high. All in all a well rounded good tasting taco not leaving you wanting more. They are 6 inch rounds and definitely full of fillings.

I hate complaining and making a big deal about it, but it was alarming to be shut down like that. Despite the refried beans (which I still didn't enjoy) the nachos were still absolutely incredible. Just make sure you are doubly clear when you order if you need substitutions or exclusions.

They ran out of mussels so I was unable to get the original dish I wanted that we drove to Port Alberni for which was the mussel and clam bucket. Our server was great, and the food was amazing. I had the seafood platter for 1 and my partner had the teriyaki burger with yam fries. The burger was amazing and I highly suggest it. The fish bowl drink that I can't remember the name of was really good. Very sweet which I loved. The salad that came with my seafood dish was a little weird. The cheesecake was not even Mildly sweet and very crumbly and dry. The chocolate gnache helped balance it but once it was gone it left a chunk of ricotta. The atmosphere is great if not a little loud but that's to do with the consistent crowd and table top games. The drinks were great, we got the margarita and the Radler. Bother were well made and fresh. We got the small Maui Wowee and it came out crispy, hot and delicious. Would love to try different flavors. We have to start by giving a huge thank you to the staff. We only gave them a short heads-up before our arrival, and they were incredibly accommodating and handled our large group with ease and a smile. The food was exceptional. Everything was fresh, delicious, and served hot. There was a big variety of dishes to choose from. I just heated up my delicious poutine leftovers that I garnered from our 1st visit here and sat down to write this review. The price is crazy for the bountiful amounts! Delicious cheese curds, gravy and a sauce that just took it over the top, and the fries were tasty all by themselves. This is not the case. The classic Granny's Chicken tasted like I bought them from a grocery store, the "largest portions in town" were very small when you look at the Butter Chicken combo. This particular location is not held in clean regard. And the burger was completely underwhelming as they used bread slices as the bun and BigMac rip-off sauce with cheese. I tried the Chicken Yaki Udon and it was very tasty. The service was great, very polite. Overall the place was tidy and clean, dirty tables were cleaned up as soon as the customer had left, so very efficient. There were a few orders before mine but I felt that considering that my order was out on my table in the appropriate amount of time. It was definitely hot and I had asked for two ingredients to be left out of the dish. It was made exactly as I had wanted so kudos to both the server and the chef. Laura and Jason, the owners of this coffee shop are the kindest, most generous humans. I love that they have the same nerdiness that I and many others possess 😃! We just ran an event from the Card Corner and Games for a Warhammer 40K tournament this afternoon and my goodness, they were the most accommodating and easy going business owners ever to work with !!!!! Even allowing our store to come in the night before to set up and making sure that we had everything this morning and throughout the day with no fuss no muss! I feel that we are so lucky to have a business like this in our community which makes Port Alberni that much more special to live in. I recommend going to eat there. Bombers Cafe have amazing crêpes and delicious hot and cold drinks along with assorted baked goods and snacks, PLUS they have other awesome events that are hosted there weekly such as Dungeons and Dragons, Chess, and or like Catan day(s). The environment is chill but warm, the staff and owners are so wonderful and the overall experience when you go there is just top-notch!!!! 😊❤️ So please check them out!! McKenna’s customer service was top notch and beyond our expectations. She was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The chicken was really good, nice crispy batter with good flavour. The fries were crisped perfectly. The tacos were extra delicious, with the baja sauce they were a great change from the norm. They're a little on the small side and fairly messy but worth it. The price of everything was about on par with what you'd expect, a little pricier than I'd like but decent overall. The staff was pleasant. Atmosphere was nice, we enjoyed the decor. A little chilly in there for a mid-November day but overall a good place to eat.

We always used to go to the mags 99 in Squamish when we lived in Vancouver so this was a really pleasant surprise! The mexi fries were fully loaded with sauce and beef so they were a bit of a hot mess but delicious. The chicken was good - no complaints, but would definitely recommend the ancho pork!! Even unesecarily apologetic about a slightly longer than quoted wait time as we were happy to wait and even more happy to see a local independent business doing great & so busy! Was still awesome they acknowledged the wait time and even offered drinks or another addition to our order at NC which we thanked them for but declined because at days end that's just more money from thier bottom line. We are from out of town and when asked about lunch that the whole family would get down on your business was the first mentioned. With no KFC ( believe me we are all the better off with that "loss" ) you guys are in good shape to fill that void! Keep killing it and best of luck!
