We enjoyed this place very much during our trip to Ocracoke. I had the salad with fried oysters, my husband had the Smax Burger and we split an order of onion rings. Everything was good and we enjoyed sitting by the marina. The service was great. We did have to wait about 15-20 minutes for a seat.

I’ve been coming to SmacNally’s for years back when I used to live in Ocracoke for the summer, this was always my go-to lunch spot. The best part? Nothing has changed the food is just as amazing now as it was then. The service is always friendly, and those burgers and fries are still 10/10, my absolute favorite meal here.
There can be a little bit of a wait, but that’s only because everyone wants a piece of SmacNally’s (and trust me, it’s worth it). On this visit, we grabbed some calamari to start so good! We also ordered mimosas, which were decent, though I wish they were a bit better. But honestly, once those burgers and fries hit the table, I couldn’t stop smiling.
If you’re in Ocracoke, this spot is a must. Consistent, delicious, and never disappointing.

It was a unique outdoor dockside dining experience. Very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, people these days are not very considerate and tend to be loud and obnoxious. There's always one person who has to be the center of attention. So that made us rush through our meal so we could leave. I think there's too much seating, making things too tight for a quiet dinner. But hey, if you don't mind rude people, it's a nice spot for lunch. Oh, and as you walk around Okracoke, grab a ripe fig off a tree. They're all over the place.

We had the fried green tomato and crab empanadas as appetizers. Both were flavorful and fresh. We then ordered a house salad with blackened shrimp and fig balsamic vinaigrette dressing to split as a main course. It too was excellent. The only negative were the margaritas which were exceptionally tart and had no tequila flavor. The owner was lovely to speak with. We would return.

Nice vibe, with a balance of indoor and outdoor seating. Great service and good food. The menu was not as clearly marked for gluten as I would like, but our server was knowledgeable and thorough with double checking with the kitchen. I safely enjoyed some fish tacos with tasty rice and beans. I would highly recommend and go back if I get to make it to the island again :)
If you have a car on the island parking is limited but there’s plenty of parking that’s not a far walk from the restaurant. We were there end of May so I’m not sure if that changes in peak tourist season.

This place was so good we went twice!! But dinner is where it's AT!!!!!! We went during lunch one day and had the crab cake burger which was just okay. The consistency was more of tuna fish to me. That was a little pan seared. But we had Matt as our waiter and he was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Omgosh, he had us ROLLIN!!!!!!! So we went back for dinner on a different day and had some of the best food on the island!!
Had the following: fried green tomatoes with bacon jam (AMAZING - GET THESE), crab empanadas with a green chutney (REALLY GOOD FLAVOR), Seared scallops in a corn like soup (scallops were so fresh and tender), blackened shrimp, cheesy grits (these are stone grits), collard/carrots mixture and key lime pie. The pie was a bit soft as if it had not jellied well enough together, but it was very tasty. Lime flavor was through and through and crust was house made.
Atmosphere: I absolutely loved the music choice!!! It was a combination of house/chillhop. My vibe ALLLLL day. We sat inside, real candle lit on the table, white linens.
BEST FOOD ON THE ISLAND!!!!!!
But you'll drop about $100 for 2 with desserts, entrees and apps. But worth every penny!!!

Dajio is superb! We are so happy that we decided to go here. The atmosphere is super warm and inviting and the food is delicious. Not cheap, but flavorful, high-quality and generous portion sizes. First time visit. We sat outside on the patio with our pup. I can not say enough about how enjoyable of a dining experience it was. Ordered two blue plates (Drum and Mahi) and finished with the banana bread dessert. The fans kept the breeze going and didn't feel sticky on a 90-degree day. Our waiter was fantastic. We showed up 15 minutes before closing time, yet they were very welcoming and never rushed us. Our server was so gracious and kind to everyone, he really made us feel at home. Back Porch offers a good selection of seafood and other dishes. We tried several but found the consistency to be hit and miss. The wagu burger, excellent with a toasted sesame bun. Shrimp and scallop pasta on the other hand was served cool in the sauce lacked a flavor punch. One in our party felt their dish was undersized for the price. On the island, service is a little slower, that's to be expected. But sadly our service didn't meet expectations. Drinks went empty, an order was incorrect (but quickly fix - thank you) and request for other items slow. We enjoyed the atmosphere and people were friendly. We'll give them another shot and hope they just had an off night.

Four stars instead of five due to they were completely out of any kind of bread. No garlic bread for spaghetti, no rolls, no table bread at all. Having said that, the Spanish mackerel, seasonal veggies (squash, green beans, and carrots), and jasmine rice we're delicious! We sat in the screened in area on the deck. Beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress was excellent. Coconut cake was so good! I loved the Russian blue cat that obviously lives there. He's good PR.

If you are a local or a visitor, Howard’s Pub is a must place! Anytime of the week. Kind friendly! The night we stopped in, there was a kid’s princess birthday party. They were separated from the rest of the guests to not interrupt. The atmosphere is friendly and cheerful!
Friendly and cheerful staff! Good Food! We got the Oysters and a Bloody Mary. A tad harsh on the pocket book, BUT worth it for a celebration! (Was my birthday!)

Great place on the Island! We came over on the ferry from Hatteras so we could see the Ocracoke lighthouse. Ate at Howard’s because it was Sunday night (and that’s about the only place open past 4p on a Sunday) but it did not disappoint. I had the local fish sandwich and a unicycle beer. I had the lightly blackened red drum - probably the best piece of fish in I’ve had dining out. Others in our party had similar compliments for their food. Overall, an excellent experience.

Howard's Pub was excellent, we ended up eating their four times on our vacation to Ocracoke. As a vegetarian I was thrilled to find the most delicious Impossible BBQ Burger, topped with pineapple and onion ring and all the extras. Our waiter Peter was incredibly kind and very attentive. Great food cleverly disguised as a beach dive bar. Can get ridiculously busy early in day as everyone comes off the ferry and this is literally the first place to eat. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Even in July, we were able to walk in past lots of people waiting for a table and sit at the bar. Had the blackened mahi sandwich with hush puppies. Tartar sauce is obviously homemade and completed the sandwich and then some. Mrs got the shrimp basket with a side of cole slaw that is again obviously homemade. Great food and portions as well great selection of mixed drinks and craft brews. Lunch and drinks little over $60 and no disappointment. As long as I'm in Ocracoke, will be stopping at Howard's.

My friends and I had a fantastic time at this seafood restaurant/bar. The tuna bites were absolutely delicious—perfectly seared and seasoned. The fish of the day was fresh and flavorful. Found ourselves craving fresh seafood and decided to grab lunch at Jason’s. Despite the place being quite busy, we were seated within about five minutes—a promising start!

We were visiting the island and this was our first stop, it was close to our B&B (Pam's Pelican highly recommended it) and the service was great! A little nice place, nothing fancy, but efficient. I would not recommend that place. Some of their menu items is "market" price which is very common with seafood places so that's not the issue. Usually there is a board or something with prices. This place didn't have one so you have to ask the server. The issue is the server didn't know those prices, she was guessing 27, 28 etc. I guess I got lucky another server overhead this and gave the right price, which was 30 for crab cakes. It almost feels like they could tell you pretty much any random price. I didn't like that but it gets worse
Said crab cakes were a tasteless mush. Definitely not worth the "guessed" price. On top of that we came as a group but they didn't have tables big enough for us so we were split on different tables with different servers and different checks (not even adjacent or close by) which is ok however they still went ahead and charged the 18% gratuity based on 5 or more. Not only most places charge this based on 6 or more but the way we were split we were no more than 4 people per table so this is iffy at best. On top of that automatic gratuity they have the nerve to add ANOTHER "add a tip" on the final receipt. All that for nasty tasteless mush of crab cake.

I arrived on a 10:00 ferry and rushed to get to Pony island before it closed at 11:00. I was there before 10:30.
The food was good but not notable, just basic, bacon, eggs and pancakes. The coffee WAS notable, it was excellent.
Unfortunately, the staff had already started cleaning, sweeping around me while I was eating and trying to enjoy a little peace with my breakfast and coffee.
The staff kept checking on me ostensibly to make sure my meal was good but I got the feeling they were checking on me to see if they could clear my dishes and to see how far along I was with my meal.
The restaurant was clean, well decorated and the staff was polite. It isn’t McDonald’s however and the rush to get me out of there so they could clean up was a meal killer.
I was out by 11:00 and my bill was $34. (The price wasn’t the issue had the meal been pleasant)
I’m sure my experience would have been better had I arrived earlier. If your open til 11:00 then be open. Don’t try to clean up and close up while people are still dining before your closing time.
$34 is high for breakfast but I understand, Ocracoke is remote and this restaurant is pretty much a monopoly, at least for breakfast. The experience should be commensurate however with the price. Nice place but disappointing experience.

After reading the reviews this was our first stop after getting off the ferry. And, honestly, I would have loved to give this place a five star rating but…. I ordered the morning special of a crab and Swiss omelette. There were so many shells I had to spit out every other bite. We were here visiting from Ohio, and this restaurant felt just like visiting our local family restaurant back home! Except the decor was ocean-themed and we were surrounded by other tourists instead of farmers. The food was great - try the hash browns and the biscuits! After a week of eating rich food around the island, I was in the mood for something a little lighter for breakfast and wasn’t convinced the Pony Island Restaurant would have something to fit that bill. They did, though - I got an egg white scramble with spinach and tomatoes, which was perfect. The husband let me try a bite of his hotcake, which was fluffy and delicious.
Everyone on staff was very kind and helpful, and they made sure you always had a full cup of steaming hot coffee. Very reasonable prices, too! This was the perfect place to end our vacation, and we’ll be back next time we find ourselves back on Ocracoke!

The absolute best, freshest oysters we’ve ever had! Server said they’re from Cedar Island. Plump, salty, briney sweet, juicy and clean with no shell fragments, crabs or sand. Service was great. Our first time coming and it was amazing. We started with the guacamole, which was unbelievable. Definitely get it! Then had one of the specials the crab stuffed flounder which was so good. Also had the tuna steak sandwich which was cooked to perfection. Our server definitely made the visit. They had local music which was awesome.

This restaurant is located inside the 1718 Brewery and it's a great pair for the brewery. We talked with some of the people there eating and they all expressed how good the food was and a great service. We were there for one reason. We kept hearing about Pretzels stuff with Crab meat and we could not pass this intriguing dish and OH BOY it was DELICIOUS!!! They do an amazing job with that dish, the pretzel is baked perfectly, then they stuff it with a bunch of fresh Crab meat and the results will blow your mind. This should be a tourist attraction/must do when you go to visit the island! I can't wait to go back and eat it again!!! I Highly Recommend it🔥🔥🔥

Terrible, size terrible price! So not worth it, search somewhere else unless you like throwing your money for miserable small amounts of food but a bunch a money plus the flavor was not good either. This amazing little place is attached to 1718 Brewing. Menu has a nice selection of items that are so much more than the standard "bar food". I had pork bbq tacos and my s.o. had the "pick 3" sliders. The flavors were AMAZING! We took our food to the bar and got a couple of flights to go with our meal for the perfect late lunch before we caught the ferry back to Hatteras. It was so good I ate it all (except for the chips) before I could get a picture. Not that the chips weren't good too. They were very good, but it was a lot of food so I couldn't quite eat all of it. We shared the Drunken Chicken Nachos. My husband got a Philly Cheese Steak and said it was great. It was good quality meat and it wasn't soggy. I got three sliders: beef slider with blue cheese and caramelized onions on brioche bun, Hawaiian slider with cheddar cheese and pineapple red pepper chutney on brioche bun, and Chicken slider beer-braised chicken with 1718 beer with house made beer cheese and fried chicken skins on pretzel roll. My parents have been to Ocracoke twice and brought my husband, brother and sister in law this year. We were recommended this place by everyone - from nurses (don’t ask) in Nags Heads to the fisherman working the seafood shops in Hatteras where we’re staying. When we looked it up on IG and Google we saw this will be their last summer so this is a review, a thank you and a good bye. If you make it this season, you are among the luckiest of humans to experience this lovely place. Thank you Eduardo and Karen for working as hard as you do to bring your food which so evidently holds a piece of your heart and soul in every dish you serve, to tourists and locals alike. As people sit on your picnic tables and congregate around tacos and burritos (available on gluten free tortillas!) we get we to share an experience and meet each other… which I suspect has been the goal all along. Food and bev is a tough lifestyle and you have given so much to this beautiful slice of heaven we humans call Ocracoke, please know how much every Red Drum taco and Chilaquiles you have served has meant to us all. Breakfast & lunch will not be the same without you guys but you can end this season knowing the impression you have made on us all will live on forever. 🏝️ This was our first trip back to Ocracoke in 6 years and Eduardo’s is always a must and did not disappoint. We were so sad to hear that this will be his last season and also surprised to see it in a new location that accommodates more seating. My favorite taco is the cheesy pork tacos with pineapple. Also make sure you differentiate between pork and carnita tacos. They are not the same. At lunch time, expect 20 minutes wait for food! They are BUSY! Advice: Don’t get your drink out of the cooler until you have your food!
They also have a water bowl for your pets for you to borrow while you are waiting! This is the epitome of patron friendly outdoor dining!

Went here to celebrate our kids 1st anniversary in October of 2025. We had a mix of the fresh fish flounder & drum specials with burre blanc sauce that were absolutely delicious. Then we decided to split the desserts - a strawberry cheesecake, chocolate torte & coffee creme brulee. Holy cow! We all agreed this was one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant in a long time!!

Food was ok, thai shimp appetizer was delicious but you could tell the hot strimp sat on the cold slaw too long by time it hit the table.
Drinks were great, and server was super nice. Order was input incorrectly, then was charged full price for the wrong dish. Not what I would expect from a customer service perspective.

Absolutely phenomenal food, fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. As a vegetarian, I was especially impressed with the beet salad (I added extra goat cheese), which was incredibly flavorful. The peach panzanella was bursting with fresh summer flavors. Their desserts were perfectly balanced and not too sweet. We ate here twice during our vacation and will definitely be back the next time we visit Ocracoke.

These egg rolls were so deliciously fresh and crunchy. Every bite was full of minced pork, shredded carrots, cabbage and vermicelli. Dipped with their homemade sweet chili sauce, just divine!
SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS
Rice paper rolled with vermicelli, fresh greens, carrots, cilantro, and shrimp. Dip into the housemate peanut sauce for the best bite. Every bite was so crunchy and fresh, just delicious. The rolls were rolled nice and tight, zero spillage. Very impressed with how stuffed these were. So yummy.
DRUNKEN NOODLES
We got a medium heat and Thai level hot. Oh my lord these were tasty! We chose chicken for our protein. I love drunken noodles and Thai Moon’s style is veggie and flavor heavy, just how I like it. Chewy, flat rice noodles, onions, tomatoes, chilis, garlic and fresh basil leaves; every bite was just an explosion of saucy flavors and textures. In hindsight, we should’ve just gotten medium because the Thai level one had us SWEATING and chugging our drinks. Delicious nonetheless, but note to self stick with medium if you like spicy, but want to enjoy your meal.
Portions are generous, so you'll have enough for leftovers to enjoy the next day. Love the Thai food here, highly recommend!

The food is always fantastic, I’ve been coming to Ocracoke my whole life, and the owner is an absolute gem! It’s such a pleasure coming back to an establishment that had amazing food when I was a kid, and it still holds up to the highest quality even though it’s been over 15 years since I first went. Please take the one star reviews with a grain of salt. This is a ONE PERSON operation and the owner is obviously doing her best (and serving absolutely delicious food). The ordering protocol that you see in these reviews are because she is once again ONE PERSON and according to the sign up in her shop explaining the protocol, close to retirement. The fam and I got a variety of dishes for carry-out. Around 5:30 on a Wednesday the wait was still around 30 min, so definitely recommend calling in; then you can just roll up and the pick up is really quick. Big bummer is that it’s cash-only, but worth the inconvenience.
The shop smells so so good and carries a variety of Thai groceries (Maesri is legit) and clothing. People working there were super nice and were able to offer some suggestions on things to order. We got the green curry (mild still has quite a kick, but super flavorful), chicken ka pow (VERY authentic Thai spice level), pad Thai, egg rolls, chicken with veggies, and chicken with broccoli. Can’t speak for the others, but green curry and ka pow were super authentic. Really like how you can specify sizes- the small is definitely good enough for one to two portions (large is gigantic, see pics), which makes it an excellent deal.
I’ve had a lot of really good Thai so this isn’t the best out of all of them, but it def ranks up there. Really nice unexpected surprise.

Pro-tip… plan your Ocracoke trip around Helios’ Hideaway hours because you definitely need their fresh pita and hummus at minimum for your beach snacks, but we recommend getting a little bit of everything to share as it was all delish… our favorites… figgy pizza (seasonal special), Siren Pizza, hummus with harissa (hot but so good), hummus with pesto (seriously the best pesto!), any of the pita wraps, falafel, couscous salad sides, and baklava! We loved it all so much we made a second visit on our departure day to take some home with us! Will absolutely be back every trip to Ocracoke from now on! We were from out of town, but we love Mediterranean food! So when we found Helios' we had to try it! It was great! Food tasty, quick and the service was top notch! Just visiting the island and we saw they sold pizza. So we stopped and ordered the Popeye and added sausage. It was Amazing!!!!! Now it didn't have much of a "backbone" aka stiffness because of all the toppings, but this combination was a great orchestra together! We spent like $20ish for a medium and we each had 3 slices. Two people and still had 2 slices left over. I highly recommend this place if you like pizza. Also, the crust is not thick, which I highly appreciated ☺️ 🍕

So, so delicious! We arrived on Ocracoke at 10:15 and immediately came here for breakfast/lunch at 10:30. Outdoor seating was available, no wait, and the food was so outstanding we stopped again on our way off the island because our preschooler wanted "more quesadilla!" We had the carne asada burrito, the chorizo pollo tacos, the Ocracoke quesadilla, and the regular cheese quesadilla. Everything was delicious and quick. And reasonably priced. While visiting the Island, decided to get a burrito. Got the Carne Asada. It was fresh, with a lot of heft to it. When I cut it in half, it also looked plentiful and rich. However, the amount of steak was minuscule. All in all about 12-13 tiny pieces of steak on a burrito that came in over a lb. I was hungry and I ate it, but will try something else next time. This felt more like a veggie burrito , to be honest.
Also, the Iceberg lettuce was prevalent and chopped in large chunks. The rice was ok, not a lot of flavor, though.
The stand looks decent with nice white tables and it's off the beaten path a bit. I'd imagine that is a challenge to park when the island is busy.
Service was quick and courteous. Will stop by again.

Went to Taqueria 504 this evening. Can be easily missed since it is not on the main road. This food truck offers some great food. This is located between Silver lake and lighthouse road. I got the Ocracoke Burger. (I always got to get burger). Fries came with. My wife got the nachos supreme. The portion sizes are huge. The amount of nachos and fries given were generous. The burger was quite large as well. The burger tasted good but the meat seems somewhat of a little lower of quality than what I am used to. We both got mango sodas which we quite yummy. This was easily the best non seafood meal I had on all of Ocracoke. And it's from a Taqueria food truck. I would have to recommend any meat of your choice on the corn tortilla taco. The chicken is excellent, but the steak, was phenomenally marinated and perfectly prepared. The chimichanga is what I would suggest to anyone not in love with authentic Mexican cuisine, and the torta, was perfect. The crema and both green and red salsas are all delicious, get them all. Please don't write this place off because it's busy, or because it's not the local favorite (yet) Eduardo's. It is so so so good. Immediately after finishing our meal, I ordered the exact same thing for my family to take home and have for dinner later that night. Go here!

I really wanted to like this place, but can't fully commit to give it more than 2 stars for a few reasons.
Pros, super cute area in town, across from the "grocery store," outdoor seating, and large portions of food. Price is resonable.
Cons, the wait is very long. we went at a time were it wasn't crowded and ordered the "lunch special." Our 3 person meal took over 45 minutes to get to us (I timed it). And although the portions were large, food was flavorless! The meat was low quality, fatty, tough and Chewy and absolutely no taste at all.
The parking lot is small and dirt, so just be prepared to wait for a spot. And wait for your food.

Great breakfasts and coffee from adjoining Deja Brew. Can't beat the location. My wife and I both ordered items that we would not normally order, namely the cheddar cheese grits and chilled overnight oats. Both were absolutely fabulous and I would highly suggest trying them, especially if this is also not your normal go-to. We were traveling in our RV and took a ferry ride over to Ocracoke Island. Saw a flyer about this place on the ferry. So glad we stopped! The gourmet hotdogs were delicious! As were the loaded fries. As a bonus all the prices in their little shop were fantastic! Handmade earrings were so cute and only seven dollars each. Canned 20 ounce bears were only four or five dollars. They had cute clothes. Nice souvenirs. The owner was so fun to talk to!
I wish we were staying for more days, there are so many more items on the menu we would love to try.

What I did see was a great breakfast buffet for a reasonable price, drinks included.
I'm talkin' sausage patties, bacon, 🥓, (both Canadian & conventional) scrambled eggs, jalapenos, home fries, tater tots, fruit, grits, French toast, pancakes, and the best GD waffles I ever had... Try them first before slathering them with the maple syrup. You'll thank me.

Whatever you do, do NOT ask them for any recommendations or opinions. The lady taking orders is as unhelpful as she can be. We have been to Ocracoke many times but usually frequent Fig Tree Deli. It was closed today, so we went to this truck to order lunch for our family of six. Big mistake. A simple question of whether she would choose the lettuce + tomato on the fish sandwich or the slaw led to her “informing” (you know, because I didn’t demonstrate that I already read the sign by asking her which she would choose) me that I am supposed to choose my own toppings & let her know. Then, even after I told her I would take all three, I ended up with a fish sandwich without any of them.
