The venue is in the heart of woodstock and located (obviously) within the woodstock inn. The inn itself is massive and beautiful. The interior is stunning to look at and simply enjoy on its own. The Red Rooster was equally as pleasant. We were greeted by friendly staff and treated well throughout our dinner. We began with rolls and maple butter. These are incredible and would happily order again. We each tried a soup, myself the clam chowder and my wife the apple butternut. We both agreed we could have simply had these for dinner. We both then got salads. I tried the kale ceasar with salmon and my wife the rooster salad with steak. Excellent, no complaints. All was prepared well. Despite minimal room, we couldnt resist the maple cake with pecan ice cream. Portion is very large but flavor is outstanding. All and all an absolutely great dinner. We would happily recommend. Its not a cheap stop but its worth it in our opinion!

Parking is hard to find when it's busy and it surely does get busy on the weekends! Make sure you call and make a reservation if it's a weekend. When you walk in, check with the host to confirm reservation and s/he will provide your table number (outdoor patio is nice, if you can request to sit out there). Then you proceed to place an order (limited menu is on the wall) before finding your assigned table. Self serve tap water station is around the corner from the order counter/bar. We ate as a group of 6 and there were some mixed opinions on the burgers and chicken sandwich. We all loved the Clam Chowder and the Nachos, so yum. Our waitress was wonderful and inside the restaurant was very cozy. The phone number on their website doesn't work, but the Google number is correct. But we were able to make reservations despite being last minute because we kept calling the number on their website. Anyhow, Our food was very good... we both took advantage of the fixed menu. I had prime rib, salad with bleu and ramp pasta. My companion had prime rib, salad with bleu cheese and poached pears with fried goat cheese with a wine reduction. First off our prime ribs were drastically different. Mine was cut much thicker where my husband's was A LOT thinner. I ordered mine cooked to medium he ordered medium rare. I would say they were both on the rarer side. The horseradish sauce and auju both fabulous. Rib was a little too fatty, but made the dog happy! Lol. Salads were both very good, fresh and ample cheesed. Pasta was good but not hugely ramp flavored. All this said the goat cheese and poached pear with wine sauce was AMAZING (see pics) The cheese was perfectly cooked with a light crispy outside. The pears and sauce perfectly complimented the cheese. If its on the menu, don't miss this wonderful appetizer. Also ordered a maple berry mule (it was not in the traditional copper). The food was mediocre at best. So were the drinks. We had the veil ravioli and cheese board for starters. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is attentive and the food and cocktails are equal parts inventive and delicious. Each member of the small team is passionate about the ingredients and dishes on the menu and the chef himself often brings plates to the table. I have eaten there twice now, the first time I had a wonderful heirloom tomato and burrata salad, a crudo with a fish the chef had specifically brought in that week, and seared scallops with charred vegetables. But the tavern was extremely disappointing. My friends were apprehensive as it looks like it’s in a rundown warehouse - but it’s anything but that. When I discovered that my chain of choice was neither close by nor affordable, I opted for the Sleep Woodstock Motel which was both. My expectations were extremely low but after getting into my room (by keypad lock - there is no formal check-in process), I was extremely pleasantly surprised at both the cleanliness and quaintness of the room. Make no mistake, the rooms at the Sleep Woodstock are no-frills (and pet friendly), but all I needed was a clean room and comfortable bed. My room had a nice shower (plenty of hot water) as well as a very cool, retro-looking mini fridge. There was a wall full of tasteful original and reproduction art, and the TV had plenty of channels to satisfy most travelers. Lisa in the motel office could not have been more pleasant. I gave 4 stars for service not because she wasn't a delight, but because this is a no frills property. It's only 9 minutes from downtown Woodstock and if I find myself in the area again, I won't hesitate to book again at the Sleep Woodstock Motel.

I can honestly say that the owner or manager cares very much that the place is welcoming and charming. The room was beautifully put together, clean, comfortable. After asking to talk to a manager the server that sat us said very controversially with what was wrong with the service “when expressing we felt “ underwhelmed with the service” he defensively stated they are very busy. We then were informed that Dave that served us was the general manager. We then dismissed ourselves wanting to avoid further confrontation, we the approached the front desk to ask to talk to another manager. Then we were approached outside the restaurant with aggregation by both Dave and the server pressing us to argue with them. Then Dave aggressively threw our tip at us and stated he didn’t want our tip, it was honestly embarrassing and left us without words. We swiftly left to avoid any further escalation. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our appetizer came out in only a few minutes and was ice cold in the center. Our entrees were equally as disappointing. Server checked in on us immediately after our food had been delivered and was nowhere to be seen the rest of the night giving us little chance to raise our concerns.
