We booked directly from their website and received a 5% discount. The hotel is pet friendly. We stayed in suite 2 which is above the restaurant. This hotel is not handicap accessible due to very steep staircase. There's free parking in the back of the restaurant. The suite is very spacious. There is a full kitchen with range, microwave and refrigerator. There are pots, pans, plates, mugs and cutlery if you plan to cook. The drip coffee maker was broken and unfortunately we found out the hard way when the coffee was not dripping into the coffee carafe. We also encountered an issue with the wall outlet in the kitchen. We could not reset the fuse. There are 2 tvs one 50 inch in the main room and a small 32 inch in the separate bedroom. There's a pull out sofabed for additional sleeping space. The decor in the room is more rustic and farmhouse feel. There's portable air conditioner that keeps the suite cool. We tried the restaurant downstairs. The fish n chips were inconsistent. Some of my guests said the fish was not fried properly. I didn't notice any issue with mine. They use basa instead of haddock or halibut. The calamari was ok. The crab rangoon was good. My nephew ordered the steak special of the day. He cleaned the plate so I guess it was good. The Mongolian beef bowl was better than expected for a pub restaurant. Overall, our stay was comfortable and we liked the location right by the canal and beautiful views of cruise ships crossing the canal. It was a Thursday around 7:30pm and the place was nearly empty. Our waitress was obviously new, but tried hard and was very sweet. We were told immediately that all pizza and pasta were not available (we had planned to try the pizza, wings and broasted chicken, so disappointing) We ordered garlic bread with cheese as an app, which was a small serving but exceptionally delicious and served quickly. We asked for the regular wings, broasted wings, and broasted chicken to be well done (we hate rubbery chicken). We waited an extremely long time for all the chicken, but man was it worth the wait!!! The broasted chicken was especially great. We started with a bruschetta bread appetizer. Somehow, the toast was soggy yet the feta was burnt. Then, we had a broasted chicken meal, a chicken souvlaki dinner, and a hot turkey sandwich. The broasted chicken and hot turkey both came with brown gravy, which was an odd flavour combination. The turkey itself and the broasted chicken were both juicy and well cooked though. The mashed potatoes were very bland as well - no butter or salt at all - and our side of “fresh” vegetables, turned out to be frozen peas. The chicken souvlaki dinner had great sides, but the chicken was slightly undercooked. The food had its problems, but was mostly salvageable. The service however, was not. Texture and flavor was more like tenderized beef than veal and the tomato sauce did nothing to help. We should have complained, especially our friend who ordered all white meat for her chicken (and paid extra) then got 2 pieces of dark instead, but after they dropped the food we didn't see the waitress again until I chased her down to pay. The place was actually bigger than it looks when you first walk in. It was a popular place and there was a bit of a lineup, but it moved quickly. We sat and waited 45 minutes for our food when a gentleman came over and asked our group if anyone had ordered a pizza under a specific name. When we answered yes he told us it was at the end of the bar and it had been sitting there for a while. The pizza was barely warm, and it was overcooked and dry, my daughter ate 1 piece and didn’t want anymore from the large pizza we ordered. We waited longer for our apps and decided to cancel the rest of our order as it was taking forever. While we were cancelling the order our chicken wings were boxed and ready to go. I tried locally at different A&W locations and none of the other franchises would help and corporate headquarters seems to be hiding (no obvious phone number for customers). Upon calling this location, the franchise owner Asif answered and was a breath of fresh air. He keenly listened, apologized and enthusiastically offered to send me a defect-free mug which I received today. Asif is a high-integrity franchise owner, a step above his peers and is very customer focused. Highly recommend him because he runs his business very well.
