But between arriving at the time the Cocobay hotel (in which Sheer Rocks is located) was doing fogging, the time (we’d missed sunset), the roadway in (the drive is full of potholes) and the unhelpful attitude of the Cocobay staff - we aborted. It appears the relationship between the resort Cocobay and SR isn’t an overly great one and CB isn’t very helpful to outside resort guests arriving to the SR restaurant… HOWEVER Earl (the supervisor of Sheer Rocks restaurant) followed us out and asked that we given them another try… and we’re glad we did. Our second attempt was MUCH better. We arrived at 5 pm and Earl personally sat us at a table with a gorgeous view of sunset for drinks pre dinner before sitting down for dinner at 5:30 pm at a neighboring table. My husband and I enjoyed the two course meal each - the pea and ham risotto was delicious, as was the red snapper and lobster ravioli entrees (albeit VERY pricey…) - think $280 USD for two. In future should we return, we may sit at the bar and just enjoy the a la carte tapas. BIG thanks again to Earl and his team for making our visit so very enjoyable.

The resort rents property to the restaurant, otherwise they're unrelated and don't share kitchens or supplies (that we were told). Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly by the servers, got huge smiles, and shown to our table quickly. It had just rained and my dress was mostly damp. I was given some paper towels to help dry it and they offered to put a candle below our table to deter any insects. They also had big spray at the front if needed! Also - my husband cannot have bottled bbq due to Crohns, so he hadn't had any in 4 years, and he decided to give it a try... since it was truly handmade sauce, he had no issues - he really enjoyed it! The servers did a great job of answering menu and ingredient questions. The lobster was easy to eat, it was pulled out of the shell for me, with lemon on the side if wanted. The vegetables were perfectly cut and prepared. The fried plantains were crispy and had amazing flavor. I am a chef back home, so I was impressed with the presentation and the different sauces we got to sample. For dessert, I had a glass of red wine and we shared the chocolate torte. (I came home and made another because of it.) I spoke with the owner and complimented her on the design of the patio and the decor chosen. She explained how she discovered this building, and made the place into her dream to serve and welcome visitors. I have renovated two homes, and it's clear to me that she had worked very hard to make this restaurant what it is today. She takes a lot of pride in the food, service, and the atmosphere. I don't even leave reviews normally but this has me astounded. A short story - everything is good. We go to order, they didn't have half the menu items, but that's no big deal. I ordered gnocchi, pointed to it on the menu and the waitress said yes and wrote it down (remember that). 45 mins later only one of our meals come out, not the gnocchi - we wait 15 more mins. At this point we have to hunt someone down to ask if gnocchi will be out (since no one checked on us the whole time). They proceed to tell us then that they don't have the gnocchi. What... we waited about an hour and no one even bothered to tell us they don't have one of the meals we ordered!? The waitress blatantly lied and said she didn't hear me order that and thought we were sharing the lobster pasta (there was NO miscommunication here). We get the check and it's insanely overpriced, water is $15 USD and the bill is over $100 USD when we only ordered water, 3 drinks and 1 meal. I won't even mention how the drinks are straight syrup and the lobster pasta we got was extremely basic. There was no gratitude, nothing taken off the bill, nothing to amend the situation. This place is clearly poorly run and they do not care about customer loyalty or satisfaction. Sad because it had potential to be a good dining experience. TLDR; do not come here unless you want overpriced "Italian" food, bad service and dishonesty.

Undercooked, pasta noodles so hard it could crack your teeth, and i guess “freshly caught” really means it came directly from the ocean cause my food was freezing. Now that yall know how bad the food is, let’s get into the service. Lol where do I begin, truly some one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. My wife orders the gnocchi off of the menu after I order the third choice I had to make that I don’t really want (again, they didn’t have half the menu) and the waitress copies both of our orders and writes them down. My food comes and my wife’s never does… it’s a good thing I brought it up to the other waiter because this would have never been corrected had I not. When asked why are food still was not out after waiting 45 mins plus, we were told they “didn’t have that” and the waitress stupidly tells us “I didn’t hear you order that” like bro what are talking about. She straight up lies to us and continues to not take accountability for her mistake. Truly an embarrassment that this place is still in business when the service is this awful. So now, after waiting nearly an hour for food that is just no where to be found, we get the insanely overpriced bill. This bill covered our very mediocre drinks and the atrociously bad Lobster Pasta that I think I maybe took 3 bites out of cause I couldn’t stomach the taste of it. Please save yourself the time and effort and learn from my mistake and DO NOT COME HERE. They will overcharge you, they probably don’t have what you want to order, and what you do end up ordering will probably be cold and just the worst thing u can put in ur tastebuds. If google had the option to rate places with negative stars this would have -5. Truly worst dining experience I have ever had in my life and i want to reiterate again to NEVER COME HERE. The jerk chicken wrap was ok... the sauce was a little bit tangy and overpowering (wouldve been nice if I could taste the chicken and if it was a bit more spicy. Overall though, the staff were friendly and we enjoyed our visit.

The only problem with the food was that we ordered two dishes to share and received three (one entree and two main courses - exactly bthe same main course). We asked the waiter if the food was definitely ours, and she confirmed. At this stage, we thought maybe they had shared the main course on two plates as it was a bigger meal. Well, once the bill arrived, the surprise: they charged us for the drinks (2 rum punch and water, not a magnum of champagne) and two main courses. We were extremely disappointed with this, and thankfully a young lady (she was working at the bar?) assisted us and was very kind and understanding. On the other hand, our waitress was rude and lacked basic customer service skills, starting to say that we couldn't have our dinner for free, and things like that. We explained that we didn't want a free dinner; clearly, as paying customers (and the restaurant is overpriced considering portion sizes), we wanted to pay for the service received. Ah, guess what? This was the waitress was friend of the people who were sitting at our initial table. In all this, the owner did not check on us once. All in all, it was a bizarre and unpleasant experience that I would not recommend. It's a shame because the restaurant was recommended by locals and we were so excited, but it was the worst night in the last 10 days.
