Classic bento with black cod miso - the highlight of the bento was the prawn tempura which was a delightful bite of food. The black cod was slightly overdone so no longer melt in your mouth. I suspect that a smaller portion in a bento vs a main course makes it harder to control the cook but still I take a point off for a highly acclaimed item. The sashimi selection was great. Cape Grim ‘Grass Fed’ Rib Eye - perfectly medium rare in presentation and very flavorful, especially with the nicely roasted coat of truffle infused crumbs. Not sure if the mushroom was the right accompanying side. It could be the texture of this particular cut of beef but I was not blown away by this dish. Overall, it was a very delicious eat and I enjoyed it very much. It's perhaps not as refined in presentation as I had expected.

However due to my allergies to beef, I couldn't eat steak due to food allergies (I have written it on my reservation notes), so they replaced the steak with the gyoza dumplings. And I would think that one of the two people having a 6 meal course can have steak and the other can have gyoza dumplings instead but not apparently if one of the two people cannot have steak both people cannot have steak. I think this need some flexibility. Overall I still recommend the foods here but if you have a big appetite, you might not find the portion sufficient.

The atmosphere was very cozy and loved the japanese vibes. We had Sashimi platter and Karaage chicken. Sashimi literally melted in my mouth. After booking online a table in restaurant area we were asked to sit at a bar/share table and it took two other people to find our table. We were sat at the table and had to flag down a server to ask if we could start our banquet, they then had to go and check the booking again to confirm as no one knew what was going on. It took a long time to get our first drink. The food was then bought out very quickly one after the other and we had to ask each time what it was. Every time someone came to bring us food it was a different server, we weren’t asked if everything was ok once the entire sitting. We had to flag someone down to get our second and third drink and explain again that we were having a set menu which included the drinks. The last two drinks were brought out right at the end of the meal and the last dish took a very long time to come out. The whole customer service experience was a big let down. The dishes were ok but would only rate the sashimi and crispy rice bites. Had an email from the restaurant asking how was the service, sent this as the reply and didn’t receive a response. The place has a cosy atmosphere with warm lights and wooden furniture. Staff is friendly and attentive. Everything was so delicious, even the steamed rice was well cooked. The chicken is tender and juicy with crispy skin. Vegetables are soft and offer a complex flavour to your meal. While the side portions were a little small for the price and some dishes took a while to come, the food was all so good that these are barely relevant. The potato salad was undoubtably the best I’ve ever had. Miso soup was standard. Arancini balls paired with mentaiko and dill were tasty and fresh. Karaage chicken was tender, juicy and crispy, and the furikake on the rice in the ekiben was a nice touch. The pickles and salad were also nice. The eel in the hitsumabushi was tasty, and the dashi, too. 100% recommend and definitely coming back to try more!

Food tastes awesome. Also first time trying their gobo fries (burdock root), definitely must try this as it's like French fries but healthier and more chewy. Also ordered the pork shogayaki (ginger pork) donburi, karaage chicken Bento, teriyaki chicken Bento and agedashi tofu Bento. The onigiri rice in the Bento is different from the usual rice in don. The Bento also comes with potato salad, wakame salad, crispy green salad with sesame dressing. The quantity is definitely more than donburi. Fried stuff are not overwhelming and I'll definitely order the ginger pork again.
