At this stage everyone in the room was looking...I explained the bill was pre-paid including breakfast. The waiters response was "oh". I went to reception to tell them we are early but if the rooms come available it would be great and very helpful if we could check in early or at least 1 room. However the receptionist did not even want to listen to my questions and abruptly stated check in is at 3pm. It was a full house last night so nothing we can do. I knew she did not want to entertain this idea as she did not even ask our names or what rooms we had booked to try and see if any had been cleaned or could request a cleaner maybe go in those rooms next. I decided there was no point trying again and said we will sit in one of the sofa rooms and wait. She did then say you can try at 2.30pm. So we sat and waited had some lunch. When 2.30pm arrived, I went to the desk. The same lady looked at me knowing why I had came back but just said, can I help you, I mentioned you said maybe come back at 2.30pm. Then I was abruptly told no rooms are available and all rooms will be ready at 3pm. Again did not ask what rooms and seemed the answer was computer says no! We sat back down then as soon as that receptionist left of shift the other receptionist came straight in at 2.50pm and said our rooms were ready, Please do not tell me the cleaners finish all rooms dead on 3pm, however unfortunately this receptionist did not want to go that extra mile for us or my ill mother. We spent over £650 on rooms and food for 1 night so felt a little disappointed that the receptionist did not want to even try and help us and made that quite clear!. The hotel has amazing rooms and food it was just a shame for the experience we had at check in.

We liked the starter and sharer options too. It makes a change to go Greek. However, we felt really rushed. As soon as the cutlery hit the plate, they were there clearing away. I’m so glad we did! Family of 3, with a toddler. They are so versed with gluten free and dairy free (I have allergies) I was so comfortable eating here. They gave me separate bread and oil, made sure I was okay and ensured all my food was free from. I enjoyed a Kleftiko and my husband had Gyros and pitta. The children’s meal looked delicious too and my son enjoyed it all. The best bit was: GLUTEN FREE AND VEGAN CHEESECAKE! Best to say I had a lovely meal here and would visit again if we came back to GY!

We ordered a main, I had the Chicken Gyro and we had desserts, I had Fudge Cake. We both had 2x drinks (cokes) as well. All very lovely and tasty. There was plenty of food on the plates, so for the price, I didn't feel too bad about it. The staff were friendly enough, but didn't go above and beyond. The view from the table was pleasant, we had a nice circular, floor-to-ceiling window. But it was nighttime so really only saw car lights as they pulled up outside. There is on-site parking outside the restaurant and plenty around the area if you can't get a space. There is also a wheelchair accessible entrance and disabled parking slots outside. The tables are set nicely away from people, so you don't feel cramped and the decor of the restaurant was pleasing. We had a nice time and would visit again. I have added photos of where we sat, the menu and the food and drink we received. I would say this place would be smart-casual attire wanted. They accept card and cash and also have seating on the roof for those summer days (which we will try another time). There was a drinks bar onsite as well and they also take birthday bookings (as there was a birthday party group in the entrance side of the restaurant when we arrived).

The gentleman who runs the place is so lovely and friendly and the other staff are also wonderful. We have been for breakfast and lunch and always return as the food is so fresh and delicious. Service was very good. My mum and I had lunch from the 3 courses for £12 menu. We both had ribs which were amazing. Mum had seabass and she liked hers. It's quite modern looking and has a good sized car park. Normally, we would try to book, but our plans changed last minute, and we found the restaurant by chance. We arrived at 9.30am, and paid for our breakfasts and drinks, waitresses were friendly. Then a member of staff was bustling about behind us and then mumbled "table of 10 ready". We made our way to the table, having booked the previous day a quieter area by the bar rather than restaurant due to a member of our family having terminal cancer and suffering with low immune system. The table was fine, behind us was our own waterfall where the rain was leaking through and had pots and pans catching every drip. The chairs were all ripped and some were dirty, which we moved around and got different ones. Well as we got to the counter all the top of the hot lamps were completely filthy, smeared with greasiness , cobwebs, little spiders and a few random bits of food. Onto the food.... Unfortunately the poor offering was made worse by the heat of the food, barely warm.. particularly the beans and hash browns. The best bit of the breakfast offering were the sausages, a new batch had just came out and were hot, crisp and tasty! After our breakfast we played a game with the children whilst adults talked , as we had came together for first time in 6 months (due to chemotherapy keeping us apart). Nobody came to clear the plates at all. The manager came just behind one of our tables and tried reaching into a cupboard for something, knocking walking stick over, we suggested we move out of way whilst she could use it.. only for a grunt to be offered out. At the end one of our party went off to complain to the manager, only for this to be met with "WHERE" being shouted out in response to the dirt and grime above the food. So we took her over to see, she was furious... But not apologetic to us again all, in fact no apology every escaped her lips. Was actually quite accusatory towards us demanding "we should have said something earlier". (And spoil our family get together?) The manager then stormed off was heard shouting out the back (not far from our table) and returned with a chef who was shown the dirt too. Again no apology for the state of the place, the service, the hygiene practices.. or lack of! We were refunded our meals and made to feel almost ashamed that we had to have made a complaint. By which time the manager was nowhere to be seen, had stormed off, leaving her waiting staff struggling to issue refunds. This was our first breakfast experience at this Toby carvery, and will definitely be out last, despite some of us just living around the corner! The manager needs some training in customer service for sure, as well on talking with her staff, who looked visibly scared!

The inside looked clean enough although the exterior could use a little attention but it is winter after all. After a time the drinks order was taken. As we were all having the carvery we were told to go to the deck when we were ready. The cold plates felt textured, it wasn't until later that I realised that they had food residue on them. The gammon was very fatty, and very 'bitty', so much so my Daughter gave up trying to eat hers. The Yorkshire puddings were incredibly greasy, I had about a tablespoon of oil inside mine, I tried to eat it but it was unpleasant. The food didn't seem that hot, the peas were undercooked, like little bullets, the roast potatoes were greasy and weird tasting, quite insipid, brown but not crispy. The parsnips were overcooked. The carrots and cauliflower were fine. The drinks arrived when we were half way through the meal. Maybe they were short staffed, I don't know, maybe we were too quick going to the deck. We all chose a pudding, my chosen pudding wasn't available so I didn't have one in the end, the rest of the table said their puddings were good and were the best part of the meal. I am all for supporting restaurants, but I'm not sure we will hurry back to this one sadly. Maybe we should have complained whilst there, but we didn't want to cause a scene or have any unpleasantness as we were there to catch up with friends and it would have put a damper on things.

The menu has been noticeably reduced and prices have gone up. Staff didn’t seem fully trained, they were chatting among themselves and not attentive to the dining area. Foodwise: We had the burger and the cod. The burger was alright but not like it used to be, the patties are smaller and have less flavour than before (previous visits felt more like handmade patties with more character and flavour). The cod’s batter looked nice and crispy on the outside, but it was soggy on the inside; mushy peas were fine. The chips were the biggest disappointment, they were soggy and seemingly undercooked for both dishes, lacking the crispness they had on past visits. Atmosphere was the best part - pleasant dining area and a nice sea-side feel when the front doors were open, although staff closed them later because of the wind. We live out of county (travelled up for holiday from Essex) and always fancy some lovely and wholesome fresh seafood. Lovely little restaurant with super attentive and friendly waiting staff. Good atmosphere, but it does get busy, especially during peak season and peak times, so be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment. In 2023, we had my mom over from South Africa, and we had a summer break in Norfolk, so I booked with Chicos, and we all had very tasty and filling meals. It was well worth it. In October 2024, again, we visited the local area (Hopton - a few miles down the coast from Yarmouth) for half-term and booked at Chicos again. This time, we felt the service was not up to their usual very high standards, as we waited longer than we normally would to get our food, and my son was absolutely ravenous, so it was a bit disappointing. We noted that they were busy that evening, so maybe that's why. When the food arrived, the portions were generous, but my son's fish was a bit overcooked and dry, and the batter was too thick and crispy for his liking. Tbf we got seated straight away and as for first impressions, it looks good with an open kitchen, chef shouting orders out and restaurant full. On to the food. we had starters which were the chicken wings and breaded mushrooms. Half way through the 4 wings you get, I had to stop as one was froze still in the middle, immediately i sent them back, they did offer to change but i said no as its put me off. My wife said mushrooms wasn't too bad though but luke warm. Mains came and I had the mixed grill and wife had fish and chips. The chips we cold on both meals and so were the eggs on the mixed grill. Oh and if you like grey skin on the mini fish, they serve it here. It looked a small mini fish even though the picture and cost say different, not sure i could eat it tbh. considering all the noise from a nice looking kitchen the food was quite poor. The staff also look like they haven't been doing the job for long either as no one had the plates taken away, they never ask how food is or even smile. The next morning we went for breakfast as we had paid for this on booking, and oh dear even this was poor. Coffee machine broken and limited choice on continental and It says unlimited breakfast on the cooked so you can ask for what you want, so I asked for 3 bacon, 3 sausage, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms and a hash brown. They got this wrong as It came with 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, raw mushrooms and the rest. Omg how can you get my order wrong and not cook mushrooms? I Won't ever go back here again and wouldnt advise anyone to try it either. It's been a long time since I've been to a place this bad.

Unfortunately there were no blueberry muffins both days, and no pancakes on the first day despite these being listed as being available on the menu. I don't think it was a case of they had some out but had ran out by the time we had breakfast (which was 9am, which is not late considering breakfast is available until 10.30am) I don't think there had been any available the entire time because there were no empty trays for them. Even if there had been some out earlier and they had all gone, then more should have been replenished. I don't think this is very good for the price you are paying to have 2 items just not on the buffet and nothing up to say why or offer apologies. The cooked breakfast was barely hot. Booking was easy over the phone, they were v helpful when I asked about parking but as weather so was nice, we walked instead. They were fairly busy but our waitress, Sarah, was attentive. I visited today for lunch and was very disappointed. The place has gone down hill considerably. The food was barely heated and bland. I had a burger. It tasted like cardboard. It's was absolutely lovely, the cats just chillin, the eighties and nineties memorabilia, and the very friendly and helpful staff, made our first experience of a cat cafe an amazing one. We were informed the cafe was dog friendly so could sit outside or inside. You have to order at the counter, but food is served to you.
