I can't say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere and service were as good as it gets. Now for the food, locally sourced beef, vegetables, fruit and essentially the entire menu. The steak that my wife and I had and we have been to so many restaurants all over was arguably the best steak at a restaurant we've ever had. My partner, young child (slightly over 18months), and I visited in late July 2025 for an early dinner. On entering we found the venue well laid out and clean, and were greeted with a genuine and friendly welcome. A high chair, children’s cutlery, and menus were provided swiftly (the children’s menu has a colouring in sheet on the back - crayons were provided). Orders were taken quickly, but not rushed, with the drinks subsequently arriving very shortly after. Our child’s main arrived first (portion was a good size, and just as good quality as the adult mains that would follow.) We found this a very welcome change to most venues, as it allowed us to help with cutting up and allowing it to cool a bit before the adult meals arrived (we find it very inconvenient when the child’s portion arrives piping hot at the same time as adult portions). Adult mains followed shortly after and were absolutely excellent. Pudding was a similar affair. However, the main thing that ensures we’ll definitely be back was the service. We tried to feasting menu and got a good variety of the sharing small plates and main. The ray fish was the highlight of the meal for me — the sauce was divine and the fish was very juicy and tender. We found the sauce on the pork chop quite sharp at first — but then when we paired it with the side veggies and gooseberries it worked really well. I think this really shows the complexity flavour profile of the dishes and how each dish is so well thought out. The desserts were delightful as well! Brunch, we had hallumi, poached egg and corn fritter w/ Guacamole, poached eggs, chorizo and Chipotle mayo. Both fresh, delicious full of flavour and fulfilling. Also we had great coffees. We were there on a day trip on a blistering day in summer. We were in the mood for a seafood lunch and decided to go to Webbe's which had decent reviews. The plate was flavourful but a bit bland. The taste improved dramatically with the addition of some freshly ground pepper and salt. My friend had the Grilled Hake Fillet. The fish was perfectly grilled and was accompanied with bits of grilled Chorizo, Potatoes and Tomatoes in a Thyme Sauce. The dish was quite exceptional and we loved it! On the whole the meal was quite satisfying and Webbe's is worth a look-in if you ever visit this part of the world and are fond of seafood .

Having made a reservation at mid noon there weren’t too many people when we arrived, the seatings were comfortable being at good distance to each other too. Ordered 6 Maldon rock oysters to start with and they were really fresh, tender without being overly salty. For mains we had the grilled monkfish from the seasonal special menu, steamed panache with a good selection of seafood (very good value for money too!) and the Rye fish stew which was my favourite during my meal. The soup was filling and flavourful filled with mussels, shrimps, fish and potatoes - served with croutons, Parmesan cheese and rouille sauce. Battered sausage is okay and can be bought separately. The main standout would be the fresh cod. If you prefer you can sit in to eat your meal though it does not seem obvious. We tried pretty much everything from the mains and every single thing was horrid. Tartiflette had just some cream and cheese sprinkled on top which was burnt, and potatoes undercooked. It had become a clump of gooey mess and I barely touched it other than the veggies (which also weren’t grilled as described on the menu). We were staying in the Crow Nest room as it was the best room to accommodate a family of four and it was fabulous! We really enjoyed everything, the food the drinks the room. Food thrown together to mimic prawn cocktails was diabolical and tasted bland and looked terrible. From start to finish Lisa and the team took the stress out of our DIY wedding. A tasting was included, allowing us to be involved in the overall design of the boards - a really nice and personal touch! On the week of the wedding the team checked in and made sure we were happy and were so responsive and accommodating to any last minute questions or requests! On the day of the wedding the team arrived early, set up effortlessly and made the tables, welcome drinks table and whole venue look better than we could have dreamed. As for the food, the grazing boards looked INCREDIBLE on the day and they were so beautifully presented with such attention to detail. Not only that, but everything was DELICIOUS! All our guests were raving about the food & attentive staff. The service and food here is incredible. The owner can't do enough to help you, even dropping your takeaway order to us in a local pub. My partner is very particular with his curry and finally found the perfect chicken madras, along with everything else we tried (and trust me he's tried a lot of curry). Pleased to have supported such a great small restaurant we'll be back for sure when we're back down that way.

We stayed 2 nights and the rooms were perfect - comfortable beds, a lovely door on to a patio and the hotel garden; the bathroom was also perfect (very rare in my experience) - fabulous shampoo, showergel and lotion - a place to hang towels and an excellent shower tho being a short person I would like a lower shower head as well as the top one. The breakfast was incredible and plentiful. The food was delicious and the service incredible. I love the games provided and the seating in the lounge/bar area is so comfortable. Even had fresh local honeycomb at breakfast. 5* and superior in every way to Gallivant. Dinner Wheatsheaf Pub, cost about £170, fantastic sea bass, crispy skin, perfectly cooked wonderful service. The cooked breakfast was excellent and there was a decent selection for the continental style if that’s more your thing. Our room good for the price. It was big with welcoming decor. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was good if a little small in comparison to the room, with a ‘step in bath’ shower. There’s no elevator at the property but there are a few rooms on the ground floor if you have accessibility requirements. What they didn’t tell you is it’ll cost you £8/day to use the car park. You’d get a much better experience staying at a Travelodge. Unbelievably overpriced for what you actually get. Avoid!

It did not disappoint! We had chilli burger, plain burger and Stilton burger and a frankfurter. And a ton of chips! Be warned - while google says open til 8 pm (and it maybe on the weekend or in peak season) we turned up one evening at 6.40pm as it was closing…but we called the next night to make sure it would be open (nothing like the disappointment of very hungry children!) and the owner (assuming it was Frankie himself?!! But don’t quote me!) not only made sure that the kiosk was open but came down to see if we were happily served! Now that is customer service!
