Unfortunately they were "out" of a majority of their appetizers on their menu - but we were offered brussel sprouts off menu and those were well cooked and seasoned. By our third night we knew there was only one place worth going back to, and that was The Dolphin. Once again Ānuʻu and Storm made it special. At that point we had tried nearly every roll on the menu and not one of them disappointed. The crudo was phenomenal, the nigiri melted in your mouth, and everything was packed with flavor. On our last night in Kaua‘i we decided the only way to end the trip was to come back to The Dolphin one more time. It turned out to be even more memorable than the first two visits. The place was packed with locals celebrating Megan, who I believe was the manager, on her final night after 18 years. The atmosphere was full of love and energy, and once again Ānuʻu and Storm recognized us right away and treated us like family. By then we had probably tried three quarters of the menu, and not a single bite fell short. I’ve eaten at some of the most well-known sushi spots across the country, including Uchi and Nobu, and The Dolphin holds its own without question. The servers hustle harder than anywhere I’ve ever seen, the sushi chefs never stop moving, and the quality is consistently top tier. Any complaints about “slow service” are simply from people who don’t understand the amount of care and effort it takes to serve this level of food in such a busy and high-demand place. The Dolphin is five stars in every sense. It was by far the best restaurant we ate at on the entire island, north or south, and it became the staple of our trip. Ānuʻu and Storm in particular made our honeymoon unforgettable. This is the kind of restaurant you remember long after you’ve left. If you’re in Hanalei, don’t waste your time or money anywhere else. The ambiance was perfectly casual and was great for our family of 6. I really liked the local beer and everyone was happy with their food. We had the Greek salad, burgers chicken tenders and fries and all were good. The wait staff was also very welcoming which added to our visit. The food also came out quickly which was great since we were grabbing a flight later in the evening. It was a really nice last dinner of the trip to Kauai.

The food presentation and quality is beautiful however the taste is just plain water down sweetness. The lady who took down my order didn't care to tell me they don't make papaya mild spicy nor spicy. We end up tossing it away and we had to look for their trashcan because they don't have a shared trashcan and they hid their trashcan in the back of their food truck. We only knew it belong to them because it was label " thai food" . I honestly wouldn't recommend this food truck to anyone who wants Thai food and is visiting Kauai. Its a waste of money. They were greedy with utensils and napkins. Instead please support the food truck that is across from them. He's a gentleman who was handing out samples with a wonderful customer service. The sunset view, depending on where you sit will be the golden hour! Let’s not get things mixed up - my review is heavily weighted on the bar and service, less so on food side. It’s a popular place and gets busy, so grabbing a spot at the bar can be a challenge. They accept reservations for the dining room and I recommend you do it if you are going at a busy time. One of the best and most surprising things we had from the food menu was the Teriyaki fries or as I call them the ‘naughty fries’ - they get 5 stars for the ingenuity of the concoction and flavors. Dim 'N' Dem Sum customized a simple menu to be what we envisioned but better (poke and musubi with choice of Hawaiian macaroni salad side), they helped with the permit process, and when we were unable to schedule a dessert vendor (due to permit limitations), they suggested another Hawaiian sweet treat, did the research and communication on their own and effectively helped me out by removing that as another worry and task on my already overflowing bride plate, and provided those for us even though it wasn't something they usually offer. Before they left, they made sure we were satisfied, helped tidy up, and left us with extra food that hadn't been eaten. When I had a moment to really connect with them, they offered some tips about local beaches and eateries and I really appreciated that.
