Wait staff was vert prompt and can walk you through ordering stuff you mayhave never heard of. A side note, their lunch specials are only available weekdays. Besides the restaurant they have a small market area which sells all the pierogies as most of the rest of the menu. Its very popular and they have some great snacks and even deli meat and fish. I have been coming to this spot for years, and it is my all-time favorite sashimi spot in the Phoenix area. I have only gone to the original South Scottsdale location as I lived just down the road for over a decade. They now have several locations, including in San Diego. My go-to dish is the house sashimi platter. They offer it in 2 different sizes. I usually go with the larger one but the small one will fill up most people or me when I’m not super hungry. No need to order sides with this as it comes with rice, veggies, a small salad. The original location is in a very nondescript, unassuming strip mall. Most people probably drive by and never know this place is tucked in there. So it is a treasure trove for locals. There are many more touristy spots in Scottsdale. But not sure you will find better sashimi. They serve it on bamboo leaves in a silver tray packed with ice. So fresh and delicious. The salmon, tuna - all are equally tasty. They also have a small counter with fresh fish and sushi kits available for purchase. They also sell stuff like gumbo and larger meals if you are ever hosting. I also dig their small retail offerings - particular the “Shuck Boy” t-shirt. This is one of the 1st stops for me when I am in town. A treat every time. I hope this place will always be there.

Service was slow because it was evident they only had one person waiting for the entire restaurant (11 tables to 1 person) which was not fair on them. The new menu is fairly simple and lacks excitement. We tried the Jalapeno Hummus as an appetizer which completely lacked flavor. The Cowboy Chicken Flatbread was decently tasting, so was the Carne Asada Huarache Flatbread although both were served a bit too cold. The Southwestern Cobb Salad was simply "meh." Lastly, they had a football game playing on the TV and had a random person yelling at the bar whenever their team scored which made the dining experience more like a sports bar. Again, I was excited to try this place but extremely disappointed in the new menu and the lack of flavor. I hope management is able to make sure they support their staff so they don't have 1 person serving almost every table.

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves, the menu was surprising. We tend to go for the whole experience, so it wasn't cheap. We had 3 people, an appetizer, salad, 3 entrees, a dessert and 7 drinks....our bill was $350 including our tip. The food was all prepared and presented well. Our server was attentive and made great suggestions. My only complaint was that they didn't separate restaurant and establish its own vibe. So it's off the lobby and feels like a hotel restaurant. Adding my own coconut milk at home (luckily I had some) made it edible but not enjoyable. The chicken bites were pretty good, but other wise this place is the McDonalds of Thai food. This is a crime because you really have to try to make truley bad Thai food with it's amazing ingredients, and even microwaveable options are better than this place.
