Perfectly cooked with such a unique flavor unlike most steaks I’ve had. The potato gratin was also delicious. Everything was amazing all the way down to the ice-cream. Upon arrival in Geneva, we picked up a taxi to Café du Soleil, where we had made online reservations for lunch. We were early on that beautiful morning, which gave us time to stroll and relax in the very pretty Place du Petit-Saconnex. An historical church there delighted us with its bells at noon and at 12:30! Café du Soleil is a truly charming restaurant just across the street from the church. As Geneva's oldest bistro, its history "spoke" to us during our planning, months prior. We sat on the terrace because the day was so nice and savored the lusciously rich fondue, renowned as "the best fondue in Geneva." We also enjoyed the "Valaisan plate with dried meat, cured ham, salami, smoked bacon & cheese and a delightful bottle of Cornalin 2023. Unbelievably, we ate and drank every last bit of everything we ordered! Our server, Allan, was friendly and attentive, even during the height of the Café’s lunchtime busyness. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Cottage Café in Geneva. When I reached the restaurant before going in, I thought a bit whether I wanted indeed to go in or not. The place does not make you want to go in as it is nor fancy or seems appealing to be honest. Once I had my burger and tasted it, all previous concerns went away. This is a really tasty burger and I definitely did not regret going in. I wouldn’t mind a few options for starter courses though which seemed really poor on the menu. It is worth a visit if you want a tasty burger on a very good price considering the prices in Geneva but be prepared that you are visiting only for the good burger, which at the end of the day that’s what it is about.
