Went for my mothers birthday as we signed up for the Bistro rewards had a free bottle of wine. Had meals from the set all day menu which is 3 courses for £24. I had tomato and cheese arancini balls which were incredible. So neatly with crispy outside. The Camembert my mother had looked amazing too. We had fish cake. Steak frites (which came with an incredible garlic butter and goats cheese ratatouille but was not piping hot which was disappointing. So glad our Bristolian buddies took us here for lunch on Saturday. We went for the set 2 course lunch menu and it was AMAZING! We had pork belly bites while we waited and my mouth is watering even typing that - they were crispy and delicious. The menu choices were great and we chose Cumberland sausages with onion gravy and mash, it came with a Yorkshire pudding with crispy bits (onion) in it too. Hubby had ham, egg and chips. Tonight was one of those nights. Dave, Hannah and team with guest vintner put on a French inspired evening. This really is the best curry I've had in some time. So good, I had the Shahi Jal chicken tikka, special curry garden rice and garlic naan. Firstly it’s located a bit out of the way, good old google maps helped out. Secondly the food itself is nice big portions I went for the moby dick (giant cod and chips) and for the price I’d expected a little more maybe a drink included especially when your paying £18.95! There was a good buzz of atmosphere and the food was really good. The staff were friendly and very helpful but the order the food came out was a little strange and so some people had all their food while others had one portion and then had to wait and watch others eat. What a wonderful spot ! We sat at the outside bar bar looking over Weston beach and the Severn. Ordered food wife had sea bass friend had fish and chips and I was going to have lasagne but ran out. After a drink we then decided it was time to proceed to the restaurant which was our main purpose for our visit. We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who went through the menu with us. We decided to have Panko Whitebait and a Scotch Egg for our starters, both were massive portions and tasted perfectly. For our mains we had a Cider battered cod, pressed peas, curry sauce and chips and a Peri-Peri Chicken with salad and chips, again both portions were massive, and both dishes were perfect. Sadly, as all the portions were so large we didn’t have room for one of the tasty desserts on the menu. We returned to the bar area where we got chatting with both staff and a were made to feel really welcome. We would both highly recommend a visit to Captains Cabin, if not for the amazing food, for the amazing views from the outside sun terrace instead.

There are a few comments on here about difficulties getting food - especially on Sundays. So here is the number one tip....book a table in advance, and the earlier the better. Yes, they do run out of the Sunday Roast - if you haven't booked. I don't know of any decent quality places that you can just walk into and expect a Sunday lunch tbh. Possibly the only exception being a Toby Carvery - who don't let you book - so that one is pot luck anyway. I presume that they cook enough meats for the Sunday bookings to avoid waste. The Sunday lunches are popular. We booked for 12:30 and our meal arrived within 5-10 minutes. Piping hot. A super plate of roasted vegetables - clearly seasonal - including potatoes, celeriac, swede and a side dish of greens and carrots and a delicious piece of pork draft. Not sure why my partners meat was almost twice the size of mine mind! There is an offer on for a desert with a standard 'roast'. I had my desert to take out as I was full. Apart from Sunday Roasts, the evenings and daytime atmospheres are very good with a decent range of beers on draught, in very interesting surroundings. Surprising when they had the 'large table' booked in. Really, really disappointing experience here. Didn't see any sign of a large table and as we left another family were turned away. Can't help but think this was an excuse for an early finish. Have worked in hospitality for over 20 years and service wise, this was one of the worst. Clearly one of the few bad experiences according to reviews but disappointing all the same.

Staff were lovely from start yo finish. There was a 40 minute wait for food but im sure it came sooner. Food was excellent. Can't fault the price and then 40% off the mains. The pub surroundings are lovely. Tho the outside lamps were not working when we left so the carpark was a little dark. We were seated straight away, the place was spotless and the ambience was lovely. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu. Absolutely spoilt for choice. We had starters mum had prawn cocktail and I had garlic and cheese mushrooms. Both were fresh and tasty. For mains we had a lamb combo, it was piping hot and delicious. We waited a bit to order pudding. It was a chocolate dome melt, soooo delicious and indulgent (extremely naughty) but so tasty. Once the food arrived there was an issue with two of the orders of the same dish. Steve, the Manager went above and beyond to rectify the issue and really took the time to chat with us and explain why this may have happened. Not only that he took the two orders off the bill and provided our table with complimentary items. He was great all round, making something that could have been negative to a really enjoyable evening, where we all felt very looked after. His customer service skills are second to none which is hard to come by these days and we will all definitely be back. The food itself was also very tasty and well cooked. Steve is a great Manager, with a friendly helpful team of shift that night. We can't praise them enough.

A walk of no more than 5mins. A warm welcome,restaurant was very clean and tidy. We were treated as honoured guests,staff courteous and friendly. It was early evening and we had such a nice time. We ate inside, we had mainly the chicken burger which was juicy and really the best fries I have had in ages. The manageress served us and she was so pleasant and professional in her manner towards us and she made it seem that nothing was a problem (sorry I did not get her name) but I stayed and had a good chat with her after our delightful meal. The pricing was excellent for the five of us. It was my first visit to Weston Super Mare and I was very impressed with Weston. Lasseters restaurant impressed me even more. Very clean facilities too, toilet cubicles with wash basin in each and very clean indeed. There is a disabled lift to get to the first floor too. I recommend Lasseters highly.

I phoned up the day before to book a table and they were so polite and lovely on the phone and asked if anyone had any allergies, which my little boy has several so I explained which ones and this was no problem at all. We were lucky enough to meet the owners who were sampling new menu dishes. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were amazing and the food was out of this world. I have eaten in every Michelin starred restaurant in Birmingham and I love scallops and Scottys scallops in garlic butter were some of the best I have eaten. This one was different to be honest. We were greeted by a young gentleman who looked like he had been in a fight the night or a couple of nights ago. Not the best first impression but given that we were hungry and had three kids with us we ventured ahead. We were taken to our table and sat down and I had to go and get a child seat on my own as we weren't offered or given one. The waitress was friendly but it seemed that none of them were really in the ball or paying much attention. There were only a few guest in the restaurant but we watched a finished burger sit there on the counter for more than 5 minutes before one of the waiters decided to pick it up and take it to the table. They were busy grouped around the till or standing in the corner. The food was good and what you expected from a chain so not much to complain about. They did get one dish wrong as the brought us a child's menu instead of a junior but rather than wait again for them to bring the food we ordered a side and made up for the lack of food that way. To finish things off they got the bill wrong and charged us a different price for the drinks. All in all I wouldn't go there again to be honest and that not for the food but because of the abysmal service you receive and witness in the restaurant. I went for 3 stars but only because the food was ok but on service alone and overall attentiveness I would struggle to give more than 2 but would probably opt for 1. My advice would be that if you are hungry and don't want or expect good service and are happy to wait, chase and double check your bill then go ahead but otherwise give it a miss I would say.

All we wanted was fish and chips on the beach. The food was ordered in the cafe & cooked to order so fresh, hot fish with lovely crispy batter & juicy fat chips & just for good measure I ordered the mushy peas which were great mushy marrowfat peas, yum. We took ours as take out across the road & sat on the almost deserted sandy beach. Great service & lovely food, you could eat at the plentiful tables outside or inside if the weather not do great. What a great little find.
