L'Houstalet is cavernous, comfortable space with eclectic decor and cool art. The interior gives a very cozy, almost Bistro-like vibe with dim lighting and dark wood rafters inside. The covered outdoor area is the most popular place to sit and is often the busiest. The furniture adds to the vibe and looks to be the same furniture since when the restaurant opened. From what I understand, the owner still runs the place and greets guests with a friendly "Bonsoir" as they enter the restaurant. If you are lucky and order the right items you will be treated to dinner with a show with flaming prawns, as well as other menu items. We enjoyed our meals, although the seafood menu was extensive, the beef fillet with potatoes was just what we wanted. The potato gratin was creamy and delicious and the steak was cooked exactly how I wanted. Overall a wonderful setting for a nice dinner in Port Vila.

Chill is located within the Central market area above seaview restaurant, they are open all day from 11am to 9pm Mondays to Fridays. Judging by the location I was not expecting such a marvellous and enticing restaurant. The interior had a white theme decorated with her plants, a pretty big bar and painting and photographs from before Vanuatu gained it's independence. The owner greeted us very warmly and we felt very comfortable and settled in nicely to the air-conditioned room. The menu consists of lunch special options, which came with a drink. There was also main course meals mainly for dinner service and a variety of drink options. For meals collectively we ordered three dishes. We got the pasta of the day, steak dish and a fried local fish dish. I enjoyed the pasta, it was similar to a chicken Alfredo but to my liking. The other two dishes were also decent in quality, the coleslaw on the side was tasting abit old however. We had a round of hit beverages which were ok abit diluted as it was made with an automatic machine which is still very cool to see however. Lastly we ended with dessert, the restaurants signature chocolate soufflé. We decided to try it out, they did warn us it was going to be 20 minutes of wait but we had time to spare. When it arrived I was abit disappointed as the soufflé collapsed when I scooped it. There was nothing in the soufflé which explains the extra sauce on the side. The pastry was also a tad bit undercook as I could still taste the tangy raw egg flavour. However overall the experience with the food was good. The thing that really impressed me however is the restaurant itself. Magnificent interior design and layout. The theme suites it's location. The view out into the bay and iririki island was just breathtaking, we could have stayed there till dusk. The music form the market area below was a tad bit irritating but that wasn't a big problem for us. Overall great experience at Chill Restaurant. Some adjustments to the food would make my experience alot better. I still recommend coming here for lunch as the lunch special offer is a pretty good deal. The view and atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing and would be a good pace to come a a relaxing afternoon.

Situated right on the waters edge with its own little beach it is in an absolute stunning location, with breathtaking views and a laid back atmosphere, cold drinks at good prices (cheaper than other bars/restaurants we visited) The staff are very friendly and the amenities were clean. We went there around lunchtime on a monday and mid afternoon on a tues so it wasnt busy on either visit, there was a constant flow of customer the whole time and we were told by the bar staff that whiles it's quite during the week it gets extremely busy friday evening and on the weekends. We ordered a hawian pizza while there and it was delicious! Food service was quick and the price was reasonable. Highly recommend visiting Banyan Beach Bar if you are in Vanuatu.

We knew it would be a bit expensive but we loved it. As their name suggest they are situated right on the waterfront so the view of the harbour and sunset is amazing. The staff were very attentive and really friendly, service was fantastic, the drinks albeit on the slightly pricey side were cold and delicious. This is not somewhere to go if looking for a cheap meal but rather for something a little special and just that little bit extra. Our meal was incredible, so much food and all delicious. There was live musice when we went, a local singer with a beautiful voice playing lovely background mucis making the atmosphere that much nicer. The amenities were clean however they are up a small flight of stair so not wheelchair accessible. Would recommend for a special occasion or if you want to spoil yourself. We loved it and for what we paid vs what we got we think it was worth it.

This French owned restaurant sits atop a hill overlooking the bay and is a perfect spot for an amazing dinner. We both ordered the surf and turf scotch fillet with prawns and chose the champagne sauce - Amazing!! Each meal comes with 2 side, I has a chips and mash sweet potato. My parter had chips and salad which was fresh and delicious. Our cuts of meat were perfect and did not dissapoint. We chose to compliment our meal with a bottle of 555 shiraz wich was delicious and not over priced. For desert we went with a traditional affogato, again amazing. And our meal was topped off with a complimentary caramel liqueur. We did not have a reservation, however we went in early, around 4.30pm, so we were accommodated, but I do highly recommend booking as the restaurant filled up very quickly as the evening progressed. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful with very attentive staff who made our evening very enjoyable. It was a perfect way to end our day. I highly recommend a visit if you are in Vanuatu.

Ended up getting 4 cocktails and some food after being told that cocktails were 20% off during happy hour. They ended up adding 2 pizzas to our order that were not ours and gave no discount for happy hour. The chicken and bacon quesadilla was good, aside from not having enough or maybe real ranch. The burger was great, it just needed some more seasoning. The smoothies were not very good. Alas, this wasn't reflected when I paid and despite having quite a 'show down' with staff, they refused to reduce the bill. I just left without paying the extra making quite a scene. The bar area is loud and smoky since you can smoke indoors. the garden area is a bit unwelcoming. The menu looked great but we were highly disappointed. Food looked good. Buffalo wings were hot and decent but the BBQ beef ribs were boiled. I have never had barbeque where the meat was boiled - the whole point is to barbeque the meat. Then the BBQ sauce was slapped on at the end. As a person who grew up in barbeque country in the US, I have never had anything like this but would not recommend. What I can say, is the Lime juice is still as good as it was years ago! We dripped by earlier in the day for some fresh juices (Lime juice 300VT, fresh Pineapple juice 400VT) before setting out for the day. After returning from a day tour, we stopped by for a late lunch. We ordered the organic beef cheeseburger with side of fries, a steak sandwich, a Lime juice and fresh Pineapple juice. The food came out rather quickly and tasted delicious and fresh. We went for an early dinner so the place was not overly crowded when we went but was filling up by the time we were leaving. I am allergic to chili and they were very accommodating to ensure I had a chili free meal that was just as amazing as everything else. I chose the southern fried chicken quesadillas and my parter had 4 tacos. The food was amazing. Presentation was beautiful and it tasted incredible. The service was great, staff were very attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and feel of the whole place. The pizza was ok, except it wasn't as described on menu, with many toppings missing. The base was also a bit too doughy for my taste. The iced coffees were made by different people, and all tasted very different, but overall nice. The breakfast was the same every day, cereals, pancakes, coffee, juice and fruit, with egg dishes sold separately (which I didn't try). Based on previous reviews we were really excited to visit this only Italian restaurant on the island, but the overall experience was just disappointing and underwhelming. I made a booking for the dinner in person early in the morning asking for a specific booth table. Upon arrival the staff was confused and couldn’t find the reservation and left us unattended for 5 minutes trying to decide if we should be sited at table we requested or not. It took another good 5 minutes before we got our menus despite not many other customers in restaurant. Vegetarian and vegan options are almost non existent, we had to ask few times and eventually got orders placed after waiter going back and forth to kitchen. Unfortunately delivery of the food took forever, almost an hour and we didn’t even get the starter we have ordered. I blame it on chef who was busy sucking up to some couple next to us, who arrived way after us and got their food personally delivered by chef before everyone else. It’s not how you treat your customers. It’s clear there is no order and mess in kitchen. Waiter was polite and apologetic, but the experience is ruined. I found in general staff being like lazy flies, they however around being very slow and not too attentive, takes forever to get water refilled or they attention to order or ask a question. What is even worse the food was really terrible. Vegetarian pasta was undercooked and not tasty and pizza was not authentic, just some shop purchased base and too cheesy, tasking like a cardboard. It was supposed to be vegetarian pizza , but there were hardly any vegetables. Bruschetta starter we ordered which never arrived as starter, only with main dish, which is another disappointment, was equally tasteless. Unfortunately you have to pay a lot for this terrible experience. Save your money and get some authentic and fresh food somewhere else.

This new restaurant offers three disparate cuisines—Japanese, Chinese and Thai—from the hands of a Thai chef. The mishmash menu originated from the family’s personal dining preferences. The airy, elevated plantation house interior is pretty much the same as I remembered, just personalised with colourful red lanterns and wall-hangings. Dancing red fish, rising suns, erupting volcanoes and waves in the style of Hokusai compete with the fifty shades of green you can see though the wide open windows. It’s a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. We opted for sashimi set B (2600VT) purported to contain tuna, salmon and mahi mahi, though the latter has been switched out for raw scallops. The cutting is thick, not what it should be, but the fishes are fresh and the phoenix-like carrot garnish makes it a pretty 12-piece plate. The wasabi however is ballistic, handle with care. Sadly the sashimi arrived with our hot mains: spicy pork (1900VT) and egg fried rice (800VT). This is perhaps a consequence of the restaurant juggling three different cuisines. The resort gardens set a great introduction to the foreshore, with snorkeling and kayaking directly from their jetty. Villas are well appointed and able to be fully opened to experience the natural breeze. Resturant has a great selection and meals are V generous. There is an option to dine on the jetty, which was wonderful on a still night. Take advantage of the snorkeling here, as there is a large abundance of fish life, being a sanctuary. We stayed six nights and I felt completely safe and cared for, even when it was just me and my two kids for a couple of days while my partner sorted a passport issue. The staff are amazing. Elice even shared a piece of her birthday cake with us! With only five rooms, Vila Chaumieres is a great place for couples or small groups of adults only to relax and enjoy Port Vila. The grounds are amongst lush gardens and the resort does have a pool which was nice- when the owners came back from holidays they came to see us by the pool to say hello. The restaurant is over the lagoon which is lovely, you can see the fish during your peaceful breakfast of croissants and local fruit. You can order cooked breakfast if you wish, at additional cost. The restaurant is popular and lots of people come from cruise ships and the town to try the french cuisine. The portions are generous and dinner good quality, The rooms are spacious and clean and we had a lagoon view room with a balcony which was lovely, we could see out to the lagoon, gardens and restaurant. The property is close to an au bon marche supermarket and getting buses was easy which would take you wherever you went. Apart from that though the property was not walking distance to the town so just bear that in mind, but buses were really affordable. There was water in our room on arrival but I had expected it to be replenished daily, but additional water was at a cost, however we retained the bottles and refilled them with tap water and chilled it as the water is fine to drink. Overall a wonderful stay and holiday and we would definitely return!!!

The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and personally cared for. The on-site restaurant has good variety at reasonable resort prices. Getting anything delivered to your villa is free of charge so we made the most of the amazing views and personal plunge pool. The Manager, Fiona will work with you to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. Because of the location, there isnt much else close by. There is a free daily shuttle into town and pre arranged tours to local highlights available for a reasonable fee. Alternatively, they helped book a shuttle so I could make a seperate tour I booked. The only downside is the road out to the resort is very bumpy with pot holes. The drivers do the best they can but expect a few bumps. Wish we could have stayed longer!

The resort offers it all, the privacy for couples and the all inclusive stuff for big groups. It also has the most incredible sun set every night perfectly positioned as a backdrop to the main Beach. The staff are all SO friendly and definitely on Island time, things are well run and everything is spotless. Only improvements could be the breakfast as that was fairly basic and not as 5star as the rest of the resort. Traveling to and from the mainland was a breeze and the complimentary boat operates until midnight. Don't expect Vanuatu to be cheap, as the cost of most things anywhere you went were the same as Australia. In saying that, Happy hour at the resort was a hit. Definitely highly recommend this place if you want a relaxing tropical holiday.

Breakfast and Water sports were included. The staff were always friendly and helpful, becoming more like extended family the longer we stayed. Price wise, food was on par with Aussie prices but drinks were defo a lot cheaper. The included breakfast each morning was amazing and we were also very surprised with how good the wifi was on the island. The service, if I could give it 10 stars I would. We loved every interaction we had with the staff members and loved that we were surrounded by the locals, we learnt a lot from them about their country and culture and it really made us appreciate where we were. The room is quite nice but is run down in some things. The view is fantastic overlooking the lagoon. The pool are is really nice and has shade which is fantastic. The staff are amazing! The food was good, and the breakfasts were fantastic with lots to choose from. Our room had a switch missing on the main switch that gave my partner a nasty zap. The toilet seat needs replacing it is stained with this black mark which is quite unappealing. The bath has a crack in it and the taps don't work properly. The deck is rotting and feels quite unsafe to use. We were just careful near the edge and didn't lean on the rails. Unfortunately when wanting to keep the room cool you can not enjoy the view as it is all wooden louver doors and windows. It is also incredibly dark in the room (with all the lights on) which means reading a book is difficult. Even finding items in your suitcase is hard. Over all it was a nice stay but I won't be back unless there are some renovations done. I would say it is more like a 3 star than a 4 star resort.

We took the free ferry ride over to the island plus it’s free entry to the resort after 5pm. We headed to the poolside bar where we enjoyed cocktails while watching the sunset. Food is always really good. Burgers,pizza and my favourite the chicken schnitzel which comes in a variety of interesting toppings. It is a popular sports bar with the locals so something is always going on From darts comps to Wednesday trivia night , and the big screens have all the latest sports action.
