There’s a bit of construction / landscaping at the moment so the owner (?) showed us another entrance. I recommend booking. We had a nice view of the water. It has a small but mighty menu. For entree; we shared the beetroot, blue cheese tart with a few leaves $24. It was delicious and a great flavour combination. For mains, we ordered the pork belly $46 and the beef cheeks $49. Both pork belly and beef cheeks were well cooked and flavoursome. I would recommend both. Our child had the fish and chips with salad. A minor miscommunication on the kids meal was quickly rectified. We also had the basque cheese cake which was adequate but I must confess, I’ve been lucky in life to have experienced many basque cheesecakes so perhaps I’ve got cheesecake privilege. As the season has just started and this is a secluded town. the timing of your dinner may be impacted by delivery of wine/beer and be prepared to pay by card as bank access is restricted too. Once we walked through the mud and found the restaurant our table was nice and had a nice view. Tried to order oysters but they didn't have any, this was disappointing as it was only a small menu. Had the scallops instead which were really nice. My Spanish mackerel was tasty, my husbands pork belly had flavour but the skin wasn't crispy and the fat wasn't rendered, this meant the texture was very squishy. While Strahan is lovely (highly recommend), Risby Cove really did not meet our expectations. The hotel is currently undergoing considerable renovations. We stayed in a ground floor room, while the first floor was still being renovated and covered in tarps etc. Our room had delightful views of construction fencing. Unfortunately, the roof leaked on our second night when it rained. We were awake half the night collecting pools of water in bowls etc. Risby Cove promptly moved us to another room in the morning, however, there was no further attempt at compensation and minimal apologies. They suggested a small discount ~$100 which never arrived despite presenting our card for the refund when we checked out... We paid a premium to stay at Risby Cove. Although the location was nice, it was overall a very subpar experience.

Parma was edible, but tasted like it had canned sauce on top. Vegetables were described as pan seared in butter, when in fact they tasted microwaved and like rubber. When we told the staff about the feedback, they deflected saying they weren’t the chef. Asked to speak with chef and was told they were too busy. Over 40 minute wait for horrendous food.

A little disappointed to not see any of the Asian dishes we were expecting on the menu, it was mostly seafood. That was fine for most, but if you had seafood allergy, few other choices. The very best salt & pepper calamari I've ever had, anywhere. Scallops with garlic sauce, delicious. Hot crispy chips, fresh side salad.. Large portions. The garlic and rocket mash was outstanding. Huge plate of mixed veggies, but very undercooked, cold and crunchy, would have been great with a light dressing, like a pickled veg... Ocean trout was raw in the middle, actually cold, but they graciously apologised and brought a new one, cooked to perfection. Definitely will return, soon!

The food however was severely lacking. We ordered a garlic bread as entre, which wasn't bad, the pasta dishes (carbonara and pesto) were just bad. The carbonara sauce had separated and the food was obviously microwaved (after waiting an hour and a half for food) and the pasta itself was so undercooked some of it was crispy. We also ordered two burgers which were dry and and strangely used wedges of tomato instead of slices. The chips were also soggy, as if microwaved, but not cooked through.
