The level of noise from the music was genuinely frustrating for us and distracted from the food & ambience. Service was quite pushy as well. I ended up finishing my glass of wine standing at the front of the restaurant. They gave us shots of mezcal for the trouble. The food was good but not INCREDIBLE. We had an inventive ceviche in a fermented pineapple sauce, the famous prawns, octopus entree & whole roasted catch of the day. It was tasty but nothing to write home about. When I ordered white wine they served it in a STEMLESS GLASS ?? In the hot climate of Tulum I couldn’t believe it. Nothing ruins the experience of drinking wine like a stemless glass - something I would expect at a dive bar maybe but certainly not a restaurant like this. Also, the candle right inside the bathroom door fell over on my boyfriend when he walked in & it burned his arm with candle wax. I took my wife here for our 5 year anniversary. We got seated immediately by a very friendly staff member that greeted us outside and sat us at our table. We got our drinks, our bread & were shown our selection of meats by the staff. Our waiter was very informative to let us know about everything we were ordering so we knew exactly what we were getting before we confirmed that’s what we wanted. Once our appetizers came(crab cake & salad) things started to slowly go downhill from there. While the appetizers were delicious and the portions were HUGE, Our waiter began to start hovering over us every few minutes trying to make sure anything we needed was perfect which made us feel a bit on edge. Then our dinner entrees came. My wife had ordered the Petit Fillet(filet mignon) cooked medium and I had ordered the 28 day dry aged ribeye cooked medium rare(pointing out the cook of the steaks is important and I’ll get to that soon). My wifes steak came out as the wrong steak(NY Strip) and my steak came out rare. When the waiter asked if our food was cooked properly, my wife did not complain even though her steak was not the cut she had ordered, I let him know that my steak was undercooked for my preference. This is where the night went sour for my wife and I. The waiter suggested the best course of action was to offer me a hot plate so that I could continue cooking the steak myself to my preferred doneness. Well, I’m not a chef and don’t know how to cook a specialty steak like that so I ended up mistakenly overcooking the steak to medium well. Overall the food was fine but the staff is what we mostly had problems with. The music was a bit too loud when we got there but since we were the only ones at the restaurant(downside of coming in the off season) they accommodated us by turning it down. It was very expensive for us to have the experience we had. We also got charged an included 15% gratuity for a party of 2 people that goes to the entire staff which brought up our bill an additional $900MXN/$45US. I don’t know that I would come back to this place for the experience and price. My wife and I had gone to BAK a few nights prior and had a much better experience there for less money and far better service

The service was also really good. Unfortunately that's where the fun ends. The food was really mediocre. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but the fish tacos were the least appealing we have had in Mexico and the fish and chips were not very tasty. Another hit is that they only take cash or American Express but don't tell you until after you eat. I had to break a US bill it being the only way I could pay and they gave me the change in pesos at 5 pesos below the exchange rate. So basically I paid 20% more for an already overpriced and unsatisfying meal. We will not be returning.

Every person in the staff is attentive and polite, from the GM to any waiter to the busboy (who will actually get orders in instead of going to get a waiter). The mezcalitas are great if you want something sweet and refreshing to drink and their mezcal selection is not vast but it’s all top notch. The food is brought quick and tastes just as you would expect, every taco in the menu just knocks it out of the park and their triple chocolate dessert is unreal. I doubt there’s any other place in a long Tulum restaurant list that can get this level of cost/benefit, the prices are too reasonable for the quality of service and food you’ll receive! I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and my partner had the Tuna Poke Bowl. Both were very well made and delicious, tho the ramen noodles were not quite at the same level as the broth.
