The first day's trail was a tad forgiving but the boulder face on the 2nd day had our knees shaking... Literally! But our determination to make it to the summit remained unwavering. Anyone who attempts to reach the summit thru sta Cruz trail should prepare mentally and physically! Boulder face is no joke. It nearly drained the life out of us.. and it was only 6 in the morning! 😂 Also, prepare for unpredictable weather conditions. Tinikaran campsite and camp Reyes can both get really cold it'll make you shiver at night especially when it rains. But with the right gears, you'll be fine :) The guides were extra helpful and considerate especially to beginners. Took an extra mile by sharing with us their drinking water. Water source to the summit from the campsite is so scarce so that's one thing one should prepare. We were also happy to turn the climb into a learning experience for our son about the forest with its flora and fauna. Overall, the entire experience was rewarding and worthwhile. We sincerely hope we can summit again in the future.

We took a detour (Layag peak) before taking this one but this is our main objective and we didn't took the green and windy Grassland path. Still, the peak is like on Layag's but more manageable and its better to take some sunblock on this one especially when youre ETA is already around 8 for there is no shade on the path to the peak. It has a place where yall can take snapshots like the Vandal area, the signages or just take a moment of relief by viewing and taking some photos on its breathtaking peak. You can also see the house from the Grassland over here. Yall can also order and eat a meal, drink coffee or take a rest, socialize and take some moment and enjoy the place.
