The lookout is stunning and definitely worth the climb. You can see glacier rock from the main highway going north out of Cairns and from on top this peak, you get wonderful views of the ocean, the city and the surrounding mountain ranges (Mt Williams to the south, Mt whitfield between there and the city, and red peak to the north).

Nice walk up and down for a view from Stoney Creek Trailhead parking lot. Quite steep, but (when dry at least) good footing. I've seen this described as a hard trail but would call it medium. Only a couple of view points along the way as you are in the lush bush most of the time.

We got dropped off at Speewah trailhead and walked to the Glacier rock. It's an awesome walk, very overgrown but the track is well defined. The rainforest is unreal. Heaps of small creek crossings. Going on further we Followed the Douglas track it led us to Surprise creek. Great place for a well deserved swim. So take a towel. The track is very steep. We then walked to Karanda via a couple more lookouts. The Douglas track follows the power lines for a bit. You need to be fit for this walk and have good hiking shoes. It took us around 4-5 hrs to do the walk. Total length was around 10k's

And not just the lookout, I did a big loop: From Stoney Creek go up the Douglas Track, to the Glacier Rock Lookout, continue back on the Track to the west, then the Gandal wandun Track until you get to Smiths Track. Follow it to the gorgeous Stoney Creek Falls and continue until you get back to Stoney Creek Road. I highly recommend this Route, you can enjoy a stunning view from Glacier Rock Lookout, stand at the upper edge of the Stoney Creek Falls and enjoy a beautiful walk through the rainforest. I was lucky enough to see a grown cassowary with his pup😍

Been in the region for years, but sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate what’s in your own backyard.
Lovely 1.2 klm walk each way to the viewing platform.
Slight incline; wheelchair friendly the whole way.

Great place to get into freshwater. Also the rain forest is beautiful.I feel this place is under rated as there are no commercial outlets around. You get to see nature at its best in this place. Must visit for all tourists. Also the water was crystal clear. There are public toilets at the car park. There is no place close by to buy food, it would be better to carry food if you are spending time by getting into water. This place might get slippery when it rains. White Rock Peak offers a moderately challenging hike with rewarding views. Starting at around 500m in elevation, the trail provides stunning vistas without requiring too much climbing. However, it does have steep sections, especially the final 150m leading to the White Rock lookout. The trail begins at Copperlode Dam Road and offers panoramic views of Mt. Sheridan and White Rock suburbs. This visually appealing and mentally inspiring hike is definitely worth it for the breathtaking view.

Starting on the Acacia trail with 15min walking pace switchback climb - dirt, leaves, steps and occasional roots and stones.
If missing the Earl Hill lookout, transfer straight from Acacia to Bombax walks.
Across the Bombax saddle walk (900m) the views are mainly inland/south at the housing estate.
The second lookout - Trinity Beach - is short 50m extra, and looks seaward/east with a seat provided.
Downhill on the Corymbia segment (700m) with views seaward, planes on final approach overhead, frequent steps, walk ends on a sandy beach - Half Moon Bay.

I love this walk and do it every morning when I visit my family in Cairns. I vary it some days and walk over to Half Moon Bay for a swim instead of summiting but both are peaceful, well shaded walks if you go early enough. I'm usually starting by 6am.... things are very busy by 7.
I'm 65 and definitely feel slower on the uphill than when I started doing it some years ago but love it and the speedy downhill feels fabulous too. It's an easy walk in terms of underfoot ie. Not huge rocks and roots to trip you up and lovely steps on the front side but the backside is good too as it offers more shade. Downhill on the backside is good but just requires a little more attention for foot placement as it has no constructed steps. Enjoy 💖

The blue arrow is one of the 4 official arrow tracks in Mt Whitfield conservation park. It’s a circuit track that starts at the yellow arrow summit and runs between the yellow arrow summit and lumley hill lookout. The lower section is more difficult than the upper section. It's done in conjunction with either the red or yellow arrow or to a lesser extent the unofficial black arrow (the track from duplock park to lumley hill lookout) However you can can turn it into a linear track by using either the green or black arrow, either the upper or lower section of the blue arrow and either the red or yellow arrow. It’s mostly well defined but there are a few spots on the lower section that may need a pause to identify the track, this track is far less used than the red, yellow and black arrows. Shortly after starting from the yellow arrow you'll see a sign saying lookout 70m. This lookout no longer exists due to vegitation regrowth.

The Blue Arrow is beautiful, and by far my favourite walk of the four arrow trails, but it badly needs maintenance. The first half, crossing lower through the mountain is mostly fine, but the second, higher up half is filled with steep edges, and confusing pathing. Often you could easily wonder off the path going in a random direction because sometimes animal tracks are equally as clear as the actual path, other times the path is practically hidden, and the only way to know is a small blue arrow, nailed to a tree and covered in moss.
If you're up for a few hours of carefully walking thought the trail, it's one of the most beautiful, rewarding tracks in Cairns, in my opinion. Just bring plenty of water, and don't bring kids.

I love this circuit for a good walkout.
Over the years our amazing Cairns City Council has upgraded the Yellow arrow to easily join the Red arrow and makes it a good hours workout.
Generally the track is in good condition but please be mindful that the tarmac walkways (see photos) can be a little slippery in wet weather.
The track is popular with walkers and runners so please be on the listen out for foot traffic.

One of the conservation parks 4 official tracks. The red arrow is a short but steep loop. It’s very well maintained, wide and fully bituminised with many, many well built stairs. It’s mainly used for exercise and is very busy most of the time. You’ll be taken through a variety of vegetation from rainforest, although not high quality on the western side, to more open sclerophyll and exotic species including a bamboo on the east. If you’re looking forward to views after all the steps you’ll be sorely disappointed, over the years the vegetation has grown and you now only get very ordinary broken views through the vegetation. If you want a good view you’ll need to walk up another short but steep connecting track to the summit of the yellow arrow where you’ll get almost 180’ views over the airport and trinity Bay. For an exercise only perspective, it’s a magic place, 5stars. For a scenic walk, 3stars is being generous.

One of many great lookouts dotted around Cairns, what I like about this one is that it’s within the city limits no hire car or tour buses required. You can easily walk there from the city central or ride or take the local public bus transportation to the botanical gardens. Beautiful spot with a lovely view of the falls. We visited in the Dry season, so there wasn’t as much water as we’ve seen during the Wet season, but it’s still worth stopping by. Unfortunately, Queensland Rail was doing track maintenance on the day of our visit, so we couldn’t walk down to the lower platform for a closer look.
Be aware that the toilets are long drops and quite smelly – in the Qld summer heat they’ll likely be worse! 🤢🤭😂 Still, a lovely site to take in the scenery when in the area.

A pretty cool lookout with a view over Cairns and to the south, but apart from that I would not really recommend the track. First time me and my wife went for a walk in this trail highly recommended by Cairns Regional Council. We started on the Ellis Close Entrance and it was really a challenge. There's a quite a lot of stairs, some of them are uneven steps and when you got into the higher part of the trail there is a resting bench wherein the trail branches out, going to the Toogood Road entrance and going uphill.
The going uphill track will get your heart pumping. Its a steep climb wherein you need to hold on to branches of trees and need to look where your stepping into since you are aiming for the roots of the trees to step into aside for loose leaves that making it slippery. I went for a go but needed to stop in middle of the climb since my wife would not be able to climb this steep.
The trail going to Toogood Entrance is quite enjoyable since it now going down and some of the scenes are breath taking. We need to stop for a couple of times to have som selfies and shots.
When you exited to the Toogood Entrance, there is a carpark opposite of the road, however if you went for the Ellis Close entrance, there will be a long walk going back.
Not recommended for a trail walker if you are not experienced and need to have a buddy since there is chance you might be on a wrong trail.
Still good 1 hour walk, and if you tried yellow arrrow track, this is much harder.

The green arrow hiking trail is definitely a hiking trail. It is at it is advertised, steep with lots of tree roots and steps. It doesn’t have as many steps as the red arrow. The bush is beautiful if you take the time to stop and look around, which we did while trying to get our breath back. Just a word of warning; the signs say it is 3km long which it is. But once you get to the end you are on top of a mountain at an elevation of 364 metres. So you then either have to turn around and walk the 3 kms back to the start or you join the blue arrow for 2kms and then the red arrow for about 1.5kms. It is also 900m from your car to the beginning of the track and that 900m is up. This walk took us 4 hours. A tough walk but worth it.

We did the red arrow and blue arrow hikes. The red arrow was paved and had defined steps which is good if you’re going to jog along it.
The blue arrow trail is more technical and took us about 3 hours to complete. Recommend having good hiking boots to do it as it was muddy/slippery in a number of places and a lot of the trail involved walking over/on tree roots.
Don’t start it too late in the day as it gets darker earlier when under the tree canopy.

We enjoyed our full day tour to Fitzroy Island, the staff was really friendly, my Husband and 7yo son had an amazing time at the snorkeling Safary, they learn lots and also found nemo...the island is beautiful, the hike to Nudy beach although a bit tricky in so parts, was totally enjoyed by my 4yo, lots of fish to see snorkeling close by. We hired kayaks on the island and had the best experience with the sea turtles popping up close to our kayak. The picnic lunch offered was generous and fresh with a chicken wrap, ham and cheese Sandwich, apple, nut bar and a bottle water. We were comfortable and fresh on the bottom inside cabin, but people seem to enjoyed the open upper deck. The boat trip can be a bit bumpy depending the conditions but was 45 mins. Really recommended the tour.

Absolutely stunning island. We cancelled our reef tour and came here twice as we researched it was the best place to see turtles whilst snorkelling. Loved that we could just get the ferry over and were able to do things at our own pace. The snorkelling was out of this world. It was a pretty nice first experience to travel to an island with a reef. The staff on our boat were very friendly and helpful, and were very clear and concise when it came to delivering instructions and information about our day on the island. We had also booked the beginner’s tour for snorkelling as it was our first time. Although we weren’t very accustomed to snorkelling yet, our guide was very informative and supportive of us, and had helped us stay afloat whilst giving us a very detailed tour off the coast above the coral reef. Very challenging at times with some very steep climbs up rock faces. The first time I tried to do it I got lost following the orange tags and ended up on the side of a cliff.
So the second time I just followed the creek right up and I reached the falls.

4 stars is not justified, probably because not everyone actually ends up at the waterfalls. It’s not behana gorge but that close to town and only a 5min walk it’s a better option than cascades and fairy falls.
The falls are about 3min up to the left when you get to the water but it’s a very obvious path.
Great spots to chill in the water on every level up there.

Beautiful falls. It was not very difficult to get Fairy falls unless going the wrong way. You should use your ear to catch water sounds & it's only 300m without steep climbing. When you meet a fork, take the riverside. If you are on a steep path, it means wrong way.
It was good short exercise even if I went the wrong way. Less than 600m to the upper falls with a steep & slippery path. The upper one wasn't as good as the lower one, but beautiful also. The wrong way continues to somewhere, but I couldn't follow it after about 700m and turned around.

It is not a famous waterfall and not many people go this way. There is a notice that there are stinging trees, so be careful.
I started my walk late at dusk. You need to go thorough bushes and walk / climb through tree roots. After a while you will have a steep incline to the rocky mountain. I read another website which says not to take the ride up hill but walk in the creek. But it was too dark and there were fallen trees on the creek so I gave the walk up and returned.
Hope this will help someone else to reach the waterfall. My advise is to start early with good shoes but be prepared to take them off or walk in water with them if needs to. It might not be safe for young children as well.

One of the conservation parks 4 official tracks the Yellow Arrow is a linear track that runs from Aeroglen drive to an open lookout area with good 180’ views over the airport and trinity bay, providing possibly the best view point on all the tracks. At this point you can connect with the red and blue arrow tracks. This track is very popular for exercise, lots of joggers and walkers so is very well defined, it’s unformed with a few roots and rocks to negotiate but reasonably well maintained with steps built in some spots. It’s not overly steep as it uses a series of switchbacks to ascend. Being on the eastern side of the mountain it’s mainly open sclerophyll and exotic species with some small patches of rainforest, but still provides plenty of shade.

Honestly great and smooth experience for me. I was supposed to pick the car up at 10am but got delayed and got there at 3pm, and it was no problem. You have to walk up to the Hertz counter which is right by baggage claim. I reckon the two companies are connected. I do not recommend this company at all. We flew in the June long weekend and provided arrival details on booking. We did not receive any correspondence to advise that they would be closed by the time we arrived. I called numerous times and was directed to a Hertz counter who said we had to pick it up the next morning as they had closed. Our accommodation was booked in Port Douglas so we required a car that day and everyone was booked out due to the big race. Thankfully the kind man at Hertz went out of his way to source a vehicle for us and told us this happens all the time. We contacted the company about a refund and were told to contact Economy. After much follow up, we received no help from either end and no refund.

I would never recommend a car rental company like Ace Car Rentals.
1.) They accepted our booking with flight details to arrive in Cairns before 3pm. Flight was delayed, and didn’t land til 3:30pm. Turns out Ace Car rentals closes at 3pm.
2.) They do not mention on websites/ booking process that they close at 3pm.
3.) Nobody made contact with us to advise they had closed.
4.) Tried calling helpline, which directs through to Hertz. Hertz deny any involvement with Ace Car Rentals.
5.) We did not speak with any Ace Car Rentals representative.
6.) We were without a car for our trip to Port Douglas that afternoon, have to pay few hundred dollars in Uber.
7.) Still no contact the next day + no way for us to contact someone for assistance.
8.) When returning vehicle, the address for 147 Lake St is incorrect.
9.) Helpline, which was again a Hertz representative, said vehicle had to be returned to airport. Which was also incorrect.

The instructions of what to do and where to go were very unclear. After walking around the airport for 15 minutes and not seeing any signage, we were told by a security guard to go wait at a shuttle bus shelter, and book at shuttle bus to ace rental cars, which is actually based in Cairns CBD. After waiting for another 25 minutes the shuttle bus finally arrived, and didn’t fit everyone inside, so others had to wait again. The Ace office was inside of a Blue Thrifty Car Rental office and there was already about 15 people waiting there, who said they’d all been waiting for over 30 minutes too.
After an hour wait, we finally were able to talk to the office people. It took a further 25 minutes to sort out our details. We had to pay $200 instead of $100 for a security bond since booking.com is a third party, even though it stated it was only $100.
To top it off, we had already been in Cairns for 4 days and were staying just across the street from the car rental office. Even though we were told to go back to the airport to get the hire car. So it took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to go from Cairns CBD, to the Cairns Airport, then back to Cairns CBD, when we could have just walked 5 minutes from where we originally started, all due to poor communication and bad service.
