This is 3 story building, where a lot of exhibits and artefacts are placed. Even though they are telling that there are 45,000 items inside the museum, most of them are same. Even if it was announced as a premium AC package, the facilities provided were totally disappointing. The amount that was charged for this package was from Rs. 34,000 to 50,000, depending the class. THE TRAIN: The tour was originated from Trivandrum and majority of the passengers were from Kerala; the food served was of cheap Tamil style. People were really tired of the same menu every day; sweet sambar and rasam with cheapest rice available in the market. The given food was rubbish; prepared in extremely unhygeinic conditions. The catering staff including the food handlers looked like street beggars. It seems they didnt change their clothes or took a bath for the entire tour period. The kitchen was extremely unhygenic and never cleaned. Food remains mixed with stagnant water was all over the kitchen floor during entire period of the trip. Toilet cleaning staff and even the security personnel were assigned to serve food! Toilets were extremely unhygeinic and were not cleaned during the trip. Bathrooms were broken and there was no water in it. I think IRCTC believes we, the Keralities too, do not take baths like their staff!! No bedroll change. We used the same bedrolls for 12 consecutive days! The train was ignored and held up in several stations/outers for hours during the entire trip. This train had the least priority in all stations. The train journey was really boring. THE HOTEL: The hotel they provided in Srinagar was really pathetic. It was a cheap hotel. Water that was running in the bathroom taps and showers was black and has a drainage smell. I am sure that the IRCTC staff used the same water for cooking the food for the group. Rooms and toilets were not clean. They never cleaned the rooms/toilets or changed the sheets or towels during our stay there. MCBs and ELCBs were tripping frequently. No hot water in the bathrooms and we had to request the room boy for a bucket of hot water. Most of the people including myself left the hotel with an upset stomach and were vomiting during the entire bus trip to Katra. Four days stay in this hotel was a nightmare. The so called "tour guides" was a disaster. They were not visible at all and were sleeping in their cabins/rooms most of the time. They didnt give the passengers any information. I strongly sugest IRCTC to stop these conducted tours if they dont know how to manage it properly and give their customers a "value for money" service. Most of the members of the group was of the opinion that they will never ever go for a tour with IRCTC again.
