The bread pudding souffle is a must. Remember to order it at the beginning of your meal. While I did see comments about becoming too touristy and spotty service issues, we experienced none of the issues and all of the charm. This was the one place my father in-law said "we must do", so not going wasn't an option. Just getting a reservation in and of it's self was a task because it's so iconic. My wife called months in advance to try and book, but due to the Halloween festivities it was almost impossible. A huge THANK YOU to Caroline Oliver. She was so nice, communicative, and accommodating working with us. We arrived early for our 11:30am reservations, but not to worry because their bar was already open. We passed through the dinning room as the service staff was in a lineup getting prepared for the day's service. Even though it was all business one server acknowledge us and made us feel immediately welcomed. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar which we thought would be dead, but it was alive and well. We knew that this was going to be an extra special experience based on the elaborate costumes people were wearing for Halloween. We were promptly seated and the ambience was already at a rolling bubble, ready to boil. As fate would have it the same server who greeted us in the staff lineup was also our server to the day, and I'm so thankful she was! Candace Dickey or "Ace" absolutely made our experience! She immediately made us feel at home and took control of our dinning cadence, allowing us relax and enjoy our day. She was maestro to our bacchanalia. The food was spot on: hot, fresh, classic, and full of the flavor's of New Orleans that stay with you a lifetime. The entire staff was on point all around, it felt like we were at a party not a restaurant. We even got to compliment the chef! We came for lunch - hubby had the Surf & Turf and I had the half & half seafood po'boys, both dressed. The sandwiches we ample sized. The Surf & Turf was loaded with roast beef and fried shrimp. It was delicious! The seafood po'boy comes only in the large size with your choice of 2 types of seafood. I opted for the fried shrimp and fried oysters. Rather than mixing the two, half the po'boy was shrimp and other half oysters. Both sides were absolutely divine. The seafood was cooked perfectly as there was a nice crunch with a succulent, satisfying plumpness to the shrimp and the oysters. The fries were also crispy with tender potato-ey centers. Domilise's is a NOLA staple, so don't pass it up! We had beat the rush and were able to get a table. Be prepared for the wait!

There are a couple of two top tables, some counter space, and a few outdoor seats if you want to stay and eat. The kitchen is right in front of you, so while you wait you can watch the team prepping sandwiches and slicing up those famous 8 foot loaves of French bread. We ordered one large shrimp and one large oyster po boy, both fully dressed with lettuce, tomato, and remoulade for the full experience. Both sandwiches were outstanding and lived up to every bit of the hype. The bread had that perfect balance of being crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. The shrimp and oysters were fried perfectly with a flavorful batter that complemented the tangy remoulade beautifully. Every bite was loaded with generous portions of seafood. My partner had the chicken sandwhich our first visit and said it was a 10/10 too. The vibe here is great, super cute interior and the location is so close to where you’re probably gonna be on bourbon street so easy to pop in and I highly reccomend you do. I also want to comment on the service from the staff as I did see quite a few comments talking this down - both times we went we had a diffeeent server and they were both really lovely and attentive. They were friendly, Made sure we had everything we needed and seemed to genuinely care about delivering good service which wasn’t the case everywhere we went in the French quarter. 10/10, you gotta go here at least once but more likely, you’ll end up back twice.

Similar to other tasting menus, you are asked to pay upfront upon your reservation. Saint Germain offers 10 courses for $175 p/p. Generally everything was very good. We were seated at a bar for the first four courses-it started with a delicious Parmesan broth and ended with a wagyu and potato dish. We were then moved to a dining room where we received three more savory courses and three desserts. The service was good although felt impersonal. We had many servers over the night and no one introduced themselves. The food was delicious but the portions were disappointing. I understand they are giving quite a few courses but I left saying “when are we going to eat though?” Almost every course could be described as an amuse bouche. At least the bread they gave us was two bites instead of one. The cheese soufflé was the most impressive and was the largest course. We were also upsold a white truffle add on to a crab course (I think). While it was fun and amazing to try white truffle, it can feel weird to pay a lot of money to come somewhere and then feel like you aren’t getting the dish as intended unless you spend an additional $200. We spent a similar amount of cash at Emeril’s for lunch and I would recommend that experience over Saint Germain to my friends and family.

However, I'm deducting one star for inconsistency. Tip: Call in your order 30 minutes before you pick it up. On our most recent visit, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, around 3:30-4 PM, we waited 40 minutes for two chicken breasts and sides. Fried chicken usually takes 20 minutes when cooked to order, and they were busy with customers waiting. Despite some of the other reviews, we've always found the service to be friendly. This time, our chicken had a hint of fried fish. The mashed potatoes, although homemade, were too salty. The dirty rice was pretty good, and the red beans and rice were great.
