Afterwards, I wanted to find a pie bakery to try other than Birdie's. I quickly did some research and found Rocket Bakery was just 5 mins away from where we were. My friend got a slice of the Lemon Tart and a chocolate chip cookie. The young employee helping us was really nice, but I think she felt overwhelmed by the line of people started to form. Towards the end of putting our order together, another employee came to help. I also felt we were kinda rushed out of there. So much so, that after we were handed our food, out the door, and almost to the car-- an employee came running out with a box in her hand. She forgot to give us one of our slices. The berry scone was pretty good. It was dense, moist, and cooked perfectly. I was excited to try the rhubarb custard pie, but unfortunately it fell short for me. The rhubarb wasn't tart at all, giving it a real subtle taste. Possibly could have used too much sugar to cut the tartness. The custard and crust part wasn't bad. I could taste the nutmeg and cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. The blueberry cheesecake tart had great flavor. It wasn't too cheesy nor sugary. Preferably, I wished it had a bit more blueberry topping. The crust was interesting--it was good and I think it had nuts, oatmeal, and coconut mixed into it. My friend said his lemon tart was really good but that the winner was the chocolate chip cookie. He said it was on the softer side and filled with mini sweet chocolate chips that he really enjoyed. For now, I'll continue my quest in search of yummy pies in CDA and Spokane.

The atmosphere is fun and colorful. I’ve came in and ordered a few times. Each and everytime was a completely different experience. The “new” girl working the counter needs an exponential amount of more training, she’s clueless and I can tell she gets on her coworkers nerves. She needs more customer service training, more shop knowledge, and just a better attitude all together. She gives the impression of the owners daughter that can’t get fired. Lol The couple of times I went in and the girls “kind of” knew what they were doing were the best, my donuts and drinks came out how they are advertised. They are cooked and made to order; so it does take time that they don’t care to tell you about (about 10-30mins). I’ve order the same type of drink and it came out looking and tasted differently every visit. I’ve paid for various sizes and received the drink in the same cup. Overall, the food IS delicious but there is zero consistency between visits. Most were disappointing, knowing the capabilities that this shop has. With the newest addition to our family, my wife and I took advantage of the Bank of America Museum days offer and ventured to the latest showcase. It was just so beautifully done and incredibly unique learning about the indigenous origin stories of a First Nations group in British Columbia. The art was superb and story telling very involved and thoughtfully showcased. It's a peaceful museum that regularly has exhibits suitable for the family. We toured the Campbell House while we were at it and love how well they have restored and preserved the history of Spokane and it's architecture. It's certainly worth a visit any day any time of the year and we'll continue to come for years.

We visited earlier in 2025 and the basement of the Campbell House was closed for repair and they were in the middle of redoing one of the main exhibits in the museum. We were offered a rain check to come back for the Campbell House but not the main museum. Word of warning-the rain checks are printed on receipt paper and are heat sensitive. I kept it in the car so we would have it when we returned but after hot Spokane summers, the paper had just turned black. Also, the Campbell House doesn’t open at the same time as the museum so if you want to see both, check the hours ahead of time. We did go back this past weekend and were able to see everything we missed the first time around. They do a great job of showcasing everything.

There was a notice on the tables that certain items were no longer available due to rising cost of food, but NOTHING was mentioned that the cost of items was NOT accurate on the menu. When we asked the server about the upcharge, he referred me to the signs on the tables. But again, they made NO mention of menu prices not being correct, but only that certain items would no longer be available. He told me many times that he "understood my frustration", but never asked how to make it right. In the end we paid $15 more than expected, which was the cost of another meal! The economy is hard on customers pocket books, too. I understand that food costs are high, but they need to be honest with their customers and not shock them with higher prices upon check out. And if they can't afford new menus, it's not hard to cross out the price of things and hand write in the correct amount. Honesty is always the best policy.
