We had a great experience working with Gideon on the architectural design to increase living space in our property, and later on during the building process. Gideon is easy to work with, listens to your priorities and has an incredible work-ethic. We highly recommend his services! Details on our experience working with Gideon are provided below for context on the basis for our recommendation.
Gideon first helped us determine how to best address our family needs by working through multiple concepts ranging from a casita to different ways to add to the existing house. He was deliberate in taking into consideration our near and long term needs. He ultimately helped us arrive to the right solution for our family; a solution that addressed our needs without getting carried away as this was important to us. The final design incorporated 1000 sqft of living space to our property including a second master suite, bonus room and re-imagined large covered patio. Gideon was thoughtful in incorporating the design in a way that fits our preferred design aesthetics, but was also effective at harmonizing what I'd describe as a more modern design with the existing house which was built in the 1970's. We were very pleased with our experience during the design phase and loved the final design, but decided to hold-off on building it. When we reached out to Gideon a couple of years later to let him know we were moving forward with the project, he immediately made himself available to help us. We have most been impressed with Gideon's work ethic during the building phase of our project. We have reached out to him in multiple occasions with different inquiries. He has been very responsive and through every time, a confirmation that we made the right choice.

Gideon designed a bathroom for us. The result was a total transformation from a dark awkward space to one that is bright, functional, and stylish. It’s beautiful but it’s barely a church. It’s a museum and tour stop basically. I was grieving and went here for solace and prayer. My prayers were interrupted by a tour guide who saw me praying but stood just feet away with a tour group in matching Jesus t-shirts and drowned out my prayers with his spiel. Intruding on my grief and communion with the divine. This is not a house of prayer. If you want to view statues dispassionately it’s the place to go. If you’re looking for God, he’s not at home.

I am visiting Tucson for the first time and our hotel was near the Cathedral so I went to Mass. I grew up Catholic, attended Catholic schools; although my attendance to weekly masses have been spotty over the years. So in the Communion today, the priest didn’t say “Body of Christ”. I was confused about that. I seriously doubt that has changed!
I also felt that the sermon was a bit political. Ugh. Too early for me for that kind of talk.

I really wanted to like this spot more than I did. There is ample parking, plenty of tables, booths and counter stools, so even though my visit was on a busy Sunday morning, we were sat immediately at the counter. The atmosphere is bright, plenty of windows and their recent renovation kept many of Chaffin's architectural features and original fixtures. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Coffee came out right away and it was hot and tasty, but that was where the rest of the experience broke down. A twenty minute wait for the food to arrive and it was just average. Plating was also sparse and unimaginative.
My search for a decent, accessible, not too long of a wait, Tucson breakfast spot continues....

Good food and a great place to go for a quick home style dinner. The venue is unique and definitely welcoming. We came in for dinner on our last night in Tucson. It was a wonderful way to end our trip. Everything on the menu looked great and when we asked for advice pretty much everything on the far right hand side of the menu is recommended. I’m not a huge fan of tomato but the fried green tomato sandwich sounded delicious and it was. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection, the service was excellent, and the decor and seats were very comfortable. I think it’s a nice touch that they provide postcards and mail them for you. If we are ever back in town we will definitely come here and highly recommend it.

Anyway, I loved that they kept the old Chaffins exterior and made subtle changes to the interior. Upon walking in you see sky blue booths and bar stools, unique candles and an alcoholic bar (see pics for details). The walls are white with a few simple framed pictures including the 2 hilariously odd ones outside of the restrooms. You can see the kitchen that it's situated behind the bar seating.
The service: Our service was great. There were 2 people that waited on a row of booths & from my observations there was never anyone waiting.
The food: Their menu is unique in that it offers breakfast and lunch, non-alcoholic, alcoholic (beer, wine and liquor/cocktails). I describe the food as slightly Cajun inspired.
My dad & I ordered a Welcome Breakfast (2 eggs, hashbrowns & a delucious homemade biscuit). I added two thick pieces of bacon and my dad added andouille. Andouille is a cajun inspired smoked sausage with a slight kick to it but nothing too overpowering. Needless to say, our meals were great. Water was serviced in a mason jar & was ice cold.
Parking: It is located just East of downtown of Broadway, off of Euclid. It has am ample free parking lot with spots in the shade.

My dad and I went to see Live From Laurel Canyon Presents Lennon & Nilsson, Songs from the Lost Weekend, for my dad's 70th birthday. We had never been to Fox Theater before, so didn't know what to expect, but we really enjoyed it! It's a beautiful old venue with very friendly staff and clean facilities.
A security guard checked my bag on the way in and actually let me bring in the water bottle that I had. There were also concessions, which were surprisingly affordable. Popcorn was $4 with $1 refills, soda was $2, candy was $4, etc. The staff members were really helpful in helping us find our seats. (I will say, the seats are not the most comfortable, especially for me with chronic pain. They're typical old movie theater seats. My dad did think they were comfortable though 🤷🏽♀️)
We had second row seats so we got to see the band up close and personal! It was a great time and Otto, the singer, sounded just like John Lennon, but also did an amazing Harry Nilsson! We thought it was really cool that they had video playing on the screen behind the band too. And we got to meet some of the band members after the show!
It was definitely a good birthday present for my dad but I also loved it. I'd go to Fox Theater again; it's not a gigantic venue, but it's charming and the employees are so welcoming.

This is an older theatre that has it's own unique charm (not my type of charm). It holds a faif amount of people. We sat in the balcony and although it was far from the stage, their were no obstructions to block our view. The decor, imo, is supposed to be of native american flair but I found it to be distracting. The sound was good and we were able to hear everything clearly. The handrail for the stairs felt like it was mounted way to low making it difficult to use. Once you reach the landing for balcony seating, you turn to enter the atea. The floor slopes up without warning and with the carpet design, you cannot tell that it slopes up. I nearly fell because of this. The stairs in the balcony seating do not have lighting making it difficult for older people to navigate nor do they have handrails. The staff I would rate more around 2.5 stars. While some were friendly and helpful, others were downright unpleasant. One of the ladies who was with me had purchased a bottle of water at the theatre and upon exiting the building, a staff member told her she had to throw out her water before leaving the building! Of course, she did not. All in all it was a decent experience.

Our experience with Robinette Architects was excellent. Ron is very knowledgeable and had consistently great advice. Robinette architects designed our home from the very beginning when it was just a patch of dirt. My wife and I came to Marc Soloway because we had seen his designs and knew they were beyond creative and truly exceptional. We have modern taste and unfortunately had a pretty firm budget with which to work. Once we went over the requirements, we literally said, "Marc design us the coolest house you can within our budget." Marc came back with a stunning design with curved walls, asymmetrical angles and the most amazing 600 square foot covered space in our backyard. Our builder who has been exclusively building custom homes in Tucson for 30+ years continuously tells me how impressed he is with the amount of "thought Marc put into his decisions." My husband and I wanted to retire to the Grand Junction, CO area and enjoy all the outdoor activities the area offers. We knew what we wanted for our dream home and thought we could design it ourselves. Our builder introduced us to Marc Soloway and Soloway Designs, however, and it was the best investment we made in building our incredible new home. We had the perfect lot with 360 degree views.
